I think, at the very beginning, a girl who had been slapped by the Wolf Demon and had her tickets thrown away began to sob uncontrollably. She walked toward the direction where she had been abandoned in her memory. Seeing the faint outline of the girl's corpse, Su Xinghe rushed in and gently touched her body. Su Xinghe directly found her hand from her lifeless body. I tried several times but only managed a tiny bit. How can one ever pass through a girl's body forever? Now, it seems as if the girl had never truly existed.
"What exactly is happening? Why is it like this?"
The Wolf Demon slowly stomped one of his short legs behind him. Upon seeing the girl's state, the elderly man commented, "Perhaps she was harmed by the Demon sitting in this very spot! It seems like it's fading away!"
When I heard the small white dog speak, I turned to look into its green-bean-like eyes and said, "You're the one who wants to eat me, Wolf Demon. Why is it like this now? Is there no one with enough wisdom to make you a prototype?"
Unaware of what was coming, the authority explained to me. The Wolf Demon twitched his nose and said, "This seat is calculating! Now it has become a form."
I quickly crouched beside the Wolf Demon, asking anxiously, "Is there anything you can do to remedy this?"
The wolf licked his paw and said, "Yes, but I have conditions for you to agree upon. No, I won't tell you just yet."
I hurriedly said, "What's the situation?"
The wolf scratched the black collar on his neck with his paw and said, "Help me remove this thing from my neck, and I'll tell you how to save her."
I glanced at the black collar around his neck and slowly crawled toward him. Gently, I placed my hand on the clasp of his collar, but I couldn't quite make out what kind of collar it was. The collar still gleamed faintly and clasped his neck tightly, holding him in place.
Seeing that even I couldn't open his collar, the Wolf Demon grew furious, clawing at it incessantly with his two paws.
Glaring at the angry wolf, I said, "I've done everything you asked of me! Now it's your turn to help!"
The Wolf Demon stopped clawing, tilted his body slightly, and replied in a cold tone, "Your blood. I've just tasted your blood! You are Mr. Sunx's son—the cloudiest yet richest blood. Your blood can restore her to normal. But beware, foolish demon! In the eyes of ghosts, if you're careless, this demon girl will turn back to normal. And she will devour you. Mark my words and add your own strength."
Upon hearing this, I hesitated, saying nothing. He bit my index finger, releasing a warm stream of blood.
As thick blood began to flow, he greedily pointed his nose toward all the goblins. The blood of someone like me wasn't enough to satisfy him. Yet the goblin snorted and restrained himself, his eyes wavering as his cravings were subdued.
Silently, I watched my blood drip onto the girl's cherry-red lips. She greedily sucked it from her upper lip, finally closing her eyes and slowly inching toward my fingertip.
Then, the girl directly grabbed my hand and bit down hard. I could feel the blood within me slowly draining away.
The girl's body gradually regained its vitality, while my face grew pale due to the excessive blood loss. My head felt heavy, and my vision wavered as if I could faint at any moment.
The Wolf Demon's expression darkened; he leapt straight up, swiped away my last two tickets, and sent me crashing into a brick, knocking me unconscious.
When I woke again, I found myself at the edge of a cliff. Rubbing my head, the lingering effects of blood loss remained. It was already late. The sun had sunk in the west, leaving only an outline behind.
As I heard snoring at my feet, I struggled to look down, finding it hard to fall asleep amidst it all.
I shook my head. It was tough to rise right after waking. Carefully, I glanced around. When I woke up, the Werewolf stretched and yawned, saying, "You're awake! I thought you wouldn't wake up until tomorrow at least!"
I rubbed my head and said, "How did I end up here? This isn't the Bronze Hall! Who brought me out?"
The Wolf Demon retrieved a hairclip from his belly. I recognized it right away when I saw it in his claws. After taking it, I realized it was the hairclip I had brought back from the grave of ten thousand souls. Keeping track of it was harder than it seemed.
"You, where are you?"
"When I found it in your wallet, you were unconscious. A young girl had left the container behind, so I allowed it."
Feng Ming said discontentedly as he looked at me, "Look!" Even with a sigh beneath the fire, Feng Ming spat out a fireball from his mouth. Because of the summer fog on the grass, the fireball fell and was extinguished immediately. The flames hit the grass, and they vanished instantly as well.
I felt as though I had experienced a profound mixture of joy and sorrow. Seeing that the fire had gone out, I spoke to the wind beside me, "You've been sealed for over a thousand years. Have you grown foolish? How can you not know better than to spit fire onto dry grass! Where was the strength you showed against the power of God's hand back in the graveyard?"
Feng Ming appeared slightly at a loss for words at what I said. Growing annoyed, he leapt up and bit onto my hand. Though not injured, Feng Ming stubbornly clung to my hand.
I shook my hand furiously, but the phoenix wouldn't let go. All I could do was continue forward, as the phoenix clung on and purred contentedly.
I didn't know how long I walked. The snoring in my stomach grew louder. I reached into my pocket and felt the soft golden and silver coins placed there by my eldest daughter. If I had a choice now, I'd rather not eat all this wealth. Even a packet of instant noodles would do.
As I drifted into thought, my hairclip started emitting a layer of white smoke. I took it out from my pocket, only to find it surrounded by mist. Shortly afterward, the girl appeared in front of me.
The girl's face slowly emerged from the white mist, timidly standing before me. Once clad in a pure red dress, she now donned a white one, appearing as if aged decades.
I pushed Feng Ming aside from my hand and curiously pointed at the girl. "How did this happen? Why… who changed your clothes?"
Feng Ming glanced at the girl in mild confusion. Spitting water from his mouth, he said, "Perhaps it's because of your blood. Or maybe because she let go of her grudges. I don't know. I didn't turn into a ghost. Why ask me? Go ask her!"
"Fine!" I scratched my head, chuckling awkwardly. Gently, I approached the girl, as if drawn to the faint scent emanating from her. My face flushed crimson.
Glancing at the curious girl, I whispered softly, "What's your name?"
Upon noticing me speak, the girl tilted her head quizzically. She looked utterly adorable.
I thought perhaps she hadn't heard me. Reflecting on the situation, I sat down against a tree, staring thoughtfully as I asked, "Why can't she understand me?"
Feng Ming sneered from a nearby spot and said, "She doesn't understand what you're saying, and now you don't understand what she's saying either. Ghosts don't become the mighty lords of the dead; they speak with volume instead! Haven't you ever heard them speak? It's loud—every ghost says so. It means you have to yell to talk to her. Whispering doesn't cut it."
I nodded, recalling what was said about needing to yell to communicate with ghosts!
"Then how am I supposed to speak to her?"
"I have no idea. I'm a Demon, not human, so why would I know what ghosts say or do? The only thing for you now is to cultivate! Once your Cultivation reaches a certain level, you'll naturally be able to communicate with ghosts! Alternatively, if this girl's cultivation reaches a certain level, she might be able to find her voice. Both of you are novices! For you, reaching the foundation phase of Cultivation alone would require ten years minimum. This little ghost girl's time is even longer—probably a century if she doesn't get lucky to find a shortcut."
