Chapter 236 After Everything Settles Down

The rumbling in the valley lasted for a long time before finally quieting down.

Armored Titan Giants stood in the small square at the edge of the camp, with boys and girls standing on the giants' shoulders, arms, and heads, gazing at the incredible transformations in the distance. The daylight shone upon them, carrying the warmth of waking from a dream.

Younger children gathered around the giants' feet, their eyes filled with wonder as they looked at the sky.

Clouds were spreading from afar — clouds that never existed in this valley, permeated with twilight glow.

Little Red Riding Hood and the Long-Haired Princess stood together on the shoulder of a Thunderbolt Titan. From this height, they could see very far.

They could even see the lush forest on the other side of the valley, which seemed to have sprouted up in the blink of an eye, replacing a large area of the original mountainous terrain.

The buzzing of drones came from high above. Little Red Riding Hood looked up and saw that the drone Dorothy had secretly released earlier was returning. Shortly after, another Titan Giant next to her raised its arm — Dorothy came running over from the "neighboring" giant's shoulder, her face glowing with excitement. "Hey! Red Hat! It's really your Black Forest! I saw the little house - but it seems the forest has some new features, like springs and flower fields, which make it look much more beautiful than before..."

"Yu Sheng told us not to get close to the places where changes are happening," Little Red Riding Hood frowned, reminding her instinctively, "He said it could be dangerous."

"Oh, I let the drone go; I didn't go there myself!" Dorothy laughed happily, "I'll send another one north to check out the tower later…"

"No need to look, it's definitely my tower. I'm so familiar with it," the Long-Haired Princess waved her hand, "But it looks much more pleasing now — at least there's no demonic aura coming out, and there aren't hellish worms spewing fire and burrowing through the windows."

"Ah, it's a pity that the drone's control distance is limited, and I don't have enough power — I originally wanted to see how big that forest is," Dorothy said regretfully, "Do you think if I dispatch a reconnaissance plane…"

"Don't create more trouble for Yu Sheng," Little Red Riding Hood sighed, "The valley has calmed down, he should be back soon."

No sooner had she finished speaking than a lively commotion was heard from the ground below.

The Long-Haired Princess turned her head, seeing an illusory door floating in the center of the camp, and a group of children excitedly gathering around it.

"Oh! Big Brother is back!" The Long-Haired Princess immediately smiled and jumped down from the Titan Giant's shoulder — her hair floated in the wind, glowing with golden light, weaving into a long slide in the blink of an eye, the end of which pointed directly at Yu Sheng, who was pushing the door open and walking out.

Yu Sheng had just opened the door and hadn't yet found his footing when he heard a sharp sound next to his ear, and the next second, he saw a golden-haired blur accelerating towards him along a track…

Quickly, Yu Sheng stepped aside in a flash, even leaving an afterimage in the air.

What could he do? His house was home to three puppets that could pounce on him and bite him at any moment and a Cyber Fox Deity who could headbutt him at supersonic speed. He had long been trained to dodge such things. Dodging Hu Li might still be a bit tough, but dodging other high-speed humanoid objects was almost a reflex engraved in his DNA. By the time he realized who was flying towards him, it was too late…

And then he watched that golden ball of fur fly past him and plunge straight into a dirt pile ten meters away.

But, as he thought, a super JK who could physically fight demons in the tower was nothing to worry about. Before he could feel concerned, the Long-Haired Princess "popped" herself out of the dirt pile, spitting out chunks of soil as she complained, "Big Brother, why did you dodge? I was just coming down to say hello…"

Yu Sheng opened his mouth, about to say something, when he heard Little Red Riding Hood's voice from behind, "Don't mind her, she gets excitable sometimes, especially now, she's very thrilled."

Yu Sheng turned around, seeing the familiar short-haired girl smiling softly in front of him.

In the nearby square, the Titan Giants were bending down one by one, extending their large arms toward the ground. Familiar figures jumped down from the giants and walked toward them, laughing and joking.

Younger children had already gathered around them.

A chubby tabby cat strutted out from the crowd, looked up at Yu Sheng with a serious expression, "Is everything over?"

Yu Sheng lowered his head, looking at this "King." After a long time, he slowly smiled, "Yes, it's all over."

The surroundings fell silent, as if the entire world had been put on pause.

After a few seconds, someone hesitated and let out a brief cheer, then another person clapped. The children's reactions were unusually slow and hesitant, as if they had been waiting for this day since they understood things. But when the moment finally arrived, each of them seemed at a loss, not even knowing how to express their feelings.

In all their lessons and drills about fairy tales, this was the only experience they had never learned or practiced.

Until Yu Sheng raised his hand and broke the stillness: "Smile, start smiling—then celebrate, however you want to celebrate."

Sparse applause began, someone laughed, and finally, someone started cheering, first the youngest children, then the older children, and finally the "parents."

Everyone started cheering, making noise, shouting, and some even cried and laughed at the same time.

Yu Sheng laughed along with them, for a long time, and when the surroundings finally became slightly quieter, he saw the "King" approaching him once again.

"I'm very satisfied, meow," the cat nodded solemnly, and its furry face seemed to show a smile. "Then I appoint you as the Minister of Royal Belly Scratching, allowing you to scratch my belly at any time."

"This is the highest honor," Little Red Riding Hood immediately leaned over and whispered in Yu Sheng's ear, "It doesn't let me scratch it whenever I want."

The King glanced at her disdainfully: "That's because you always smell like a dog."

Little Red Riding Hood immediately glared: "Wolf! It's wolf!"

"Smells the same."

"You've lost your cat treats!"

"Meow?!!"

The girl and the cat started to bicker, and it didn't seem to be the first time they'd argued about this topic. None of the onlookers tried to intervene; instead, some even fanned the flames.

Yu Sheng laughed as he watched from the middle, enjoying all the noise at this moment—he suddenly thought, these children, whether big or small, every conversation, every quarrel they have from today onwards, even every breath, every moment of happiness and unhappiness, every step they take in life, seems to have become an extension of all his efforts these days, turning into the meaning of him standing here, turning into...

... a part of him rooting in this vast city.

He looked up, his eyes passing beyond the children, seeing many more figures standing farther away.

Adults—the employees sent by the Council, the engineers and security personnel sent by the Special Service Bureau, all standing far away, always watching over here.

"Afterwards, we're going to have a grand celebration," Yu Sheng said, "Everyone will participate."

"Will Teacher Su join?" A little boy curiously asked beside him.

Yu Sheng smiled and nodded: "Of course."

"Yay!!"

Yu Sheng reached out and patted the child's head, finally turning his gaze back to Little Red Riding Hood.

"But before that, let's talk about business first," he adjusted his expression slightly, "I need to talk to you about the current changes in the 'Fairy Tales' Exotic Realm, which involves your future arrangements, and the future of the 'Fairy Tale' Organization."

"Alright," Little Red Riding Hood, being the most seasoned "parent" in the Fairy Tale Organization, adjusted her demeanor almost instantly, nodding slightly with a serious expression, then quickly called out the parents' names, "Bai Xue, Long-haired, King... everyone come over, let's have a meeting. The others can disperse, do what you need to do."

"Where shall we talk?" Yu Sheng glanced at the circle of people around, curious.

"Where else? Of course at the 'castle' you built for us," the long-haired princess said, raising her hand to point with her thumb behind her at the end of the camp, "That place is indeed spacious enough. We've decided to use it as an activity center from now on; it's perfect for meetings."

Yu Sheng looked up and saw the large building with a Weng City layout that he had initially put all his effort into building for the orphanage children. He also noticed that colorful flags had been planted on the sloping roof of the building at some point, giving off a bit of a "castle" vibe.

A group of people passed through the camp and entered the castle—now equipped with water and electricity. Although the interior decoration had not been done, at least the large entrance hall had been laid with floor mats, so it was no longer a bare, hard stone floor. There were temporary electric lights on the walls and ceiling to illuminate the area, and Yu Sheng saw a large round table in the center of the hall with a dozen chairs around it. Simple, yet it looked decent.

"We originally planned to place a long table, but later the King suggested a round table, saying it would make it a 'Round Table Conference,'" Little Red Riding Hood turned on the hall's lights, pointing at the large round table, explaining to Yu Sheng, "Although I don't know what the purpose is, everyone seemed to think 'Round Table Conference' sounded good, so we went with a round table."

Yu Sheng nodded while walking over, then hesitated for a few seconds before he finally said, "It's like this, firstly, I think a 'Round Table Conference' might not need a large lazy Susan in the middle of the round table..."
