Chapter 426: Nothing but Single-Second Attacks

“Elder, the Lady lost – she was even forced to drop her weapon.”

At the guest sitting area, a guard told an elder in Chinese attire as the girl left the arena.

“What did you say?” the elder said in disbelief. “Xiao Qiao was eliminated in the second round? What’s going on? Did she meet a fighter in the Heaven’s Strength Realm?”

He had initially thought that his daughter would be able to at least make it to the fourth or fifth round – he didn’t expect her to be eliminated in the second.

“It was a fighter in the intermediate stage of the True Energy Realm,” the guard reported. “Judging from his attire, he’s not a student of the Luosha Institution. His moves are crisp and precise. He grabbed ahold of the Lady just as she launched her attack.”

“Oh?” The elder was taken by surprise. “It looks like he’s from one of the clans. Watch him for me – let’s see how far he can go.”

The second round of the competition took slightly longer to conclude. It was long enough for the fighters to be able to battle for up to a few minutes. Before long, it ended.

Up next, Ye Mo met with fighters in the advanced stage of the True Energy Realm, the intermediate stage of the Heaven’s Gate Realm, and even some in the advanced stage of the Heaven’s Gate Realm. But none of them could best Ye Mo.

By the sixth round of the competition, Ye Mo had already squeezed into the top 500 rankings. As the number of remaining competitors decreased, Ye Mo could start to see who else was left clearly, most of them were students of the Luosha Institution.

It was no doubt the fighters who made their way into the sixth round weren’t necessarily extremely powerful – there was also an element of luck to the competition. Some fighters were able to make it to the fifth round just by being matched up against weaker opponents.

“Elder, he’s already made it to the sixth round,” the guard reported. “And, no matter who his opponent was, he’s always managed to break through their True Energy armor with a single spear strike.”

“Interesting,” the elder in Chinese attire nodded slightly. “Keep observing. I may end up meeting a promising talent in this year’s Fall Test. Even if he doesn’t end up with the Luosha Token, he’s someone special nonetheless.”

Ye Mo’s performance was indeed awe-inspiring. But with so many fighters more gifted than him among the nearly 500 remaining, Ye Mo was far from the center of attention.

The seventh round of the competition began, and Ye Mo faced a fighter in the advanced stage of the True Energy Realm.

“Haha, I, Jiang Tao, am in luck today.” His opponent laughed when he saw that he was matched with Ye Mo. “I’ve been matched with fighters weaker than me every single time. Looks like I’m destined to make it to the eighth round.”

No fighter in the advanced stage of the True Energy Realm had lasted all the way to the seventh round before.

“Oh? Are you so sure that you can defeat me?” Ye Mo looked at his opponent and smiled gently.

“Your luck’s not too bad either,” Jiang Tao said, “for a fighter in the intermediate stage of the True Energy Realm to last till the seventh round. With two lucky fighters matched against each other, it looks like we only have strength to compare. It’s a shame that I’m stronger than you, which means that I’m still luckier than you.” He smiled proudly. He had initially thought that he was going to be finished in this round. Little did he expect his luck to hold, matching him against a fighter in the intermediate stage of the True Energy Realm.

“Luck is commonly viewed as a strength on its own.” Ye Mo smiled gently. “It’s a shame that you are unfortunate enough to meet me.”

Without speaking further, Ye Mo’s body flashed and he vanished from where he was standing.

Seeing that, Jiang Tao’s eyes widened and he tensed up his nerves, channeling his True Energy Armor as he looked all around for a trace of Ye Mo.

“Behind you!”

Jiang Tao let out a shout as he channeled True Energy into the mortal gate of his right leg. Resembling a dragon’s tail, he sent his kick attack out, exploding the air. But he missed his target.

“Where is he?” Jiang Tao was shocked, only to see that Ye Mo hadn’t moved at all, he remained on the spot where he started.

Ye Mo responded with a palm strike of earth-shattering force.

Boom!

Jiang Tao was sent flying before he could react. Dropping onto the stage, he coughed out a mouthful of blood.

“Your strength?”

Jiang Tao could feel that Ye Mo’s hit was imbued with a frightening level of power, far beyond the True Energy Realm, and perhaps even the initial stage of the Heaven’s Gate Realm.

It only then did he realize that Ye Mo hadn’t relied on luck – he was just that good.

Since Ye Mo was matched against a fighter in the advanced stage of the True Energy Realm, winning with a single hit was widely dismissed as luck by most people, including the elders of the institution.

As the seventh round came to a close, there were only a little more than 200 people left in the competition. The eighth round of competition was the battle for the top 100.

Being able to make it into the top 100 would definitely allow Ye Mo to attract attention.

“Elder, that man has advanced to the next round again,” the guard said. “But he was just matched up against a fighter in the advanced stage of the True Energy Realm.”

Looking at the stage, the guard said, “Elder, the eighth round has begun. His opponent is Wang Tianxiao.”

“What? Wang Tianxiao?”

The Elder in Chinese attire was taken by surprise and shook his head. “Looks like this is the end of the Fall Test for him. Last year, Wang Tianxiao made it into the top 100. I’m afraid he’s gunning for the top 10 rankings this year.”

Ye Mo and Wang Tianxiao were transported to the same stage at the same time.

Both of them looked at each other, surprised.

“You were lucky to make it into the seventh round,” Wang Tianxiao said, the look in his eyes gradually becoming more threatening. “Looks like your luck’s run out, matching you up against me. Don’t even think about surrendering. I’ll kill you today and show you the consequences of offending me.”

“Haha, tough talk. Let’s see you follow through.” Ye Mo drew his Sky Blood Spear as he mocked Wang Tianxiao. He might be in the initial stage of the Heaven’s Strength Realm, but Ye Mo didn’t see him as a threat at all.

Buzz, buzz!

Wang Tianxiao reached out both hands before slowly separating them. The air in front of him started to twist and bend as a fiery red long sword, resembling the scorching hot sun, descended from the skies.

He pointed a finger and generated thousands of sword auras with dominant authority. They morphed into rays of yellow light that exploded in all directions and spiraled towards Ye Mo.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

Against the sword auras, Ye Mo showed his Sky Blood Spear techniques. With the Sky Blood Aura, he sent out hundreds of spear strikes, each spear strike sparkling in the air.

The spear blades and sword auras clashed repeatedly, causing explosive noises and shaking the foundations of the ground.

Ye Mo and Wang Tianxiao’s battle was at a frightening level, causing a huge commotion and attracting the attention of many. After overcoming all the previous challenges, it was only now that Ye Mo was really getting the attention of the Luosha Kingdom’s elites.

“Who is this man?” one of the elites of the Luosha Kingdom said. “To think that he can match Luosha Kingdom’s fifth strongest fighter, Wang Tianxiao. He’s unfortunate to be matched up against him.”

“Indeed, indeed. It’s impressive that he was even able to last until the eighth round. Too bad that he matched up against Wang Tianxiao.”

Seeing nearly all of his sword strikes being parried, Wang Tianxiao grabbed the fiery red long sword in the air with a single hand and unleashed a wild sword strike.

Whoosh!

A sword light blade ten meters in height was sent flying toward Ye Mo’s head, like a flash in the galaxy.

“Die, Burning Sword of Solitude!”
