Steel and Mana

Chapter 508 - Relaxing

The Third Pass was currently a madhouse. No, that is not exactly precise; it was more like a disturbed anthill. So, amidst the chaos, there was a purpose and order present if you looked long enough.

There were at least a dozen shouting engineers at every given moment and about a thousand sweating workers, already erecting the very first wall within the Pass, in preparation for winter. We still had about three to four months... so they were working day and night, no pauses. Piles of timber were constantly prepared and consumed as the row of scaffolding was continually being expanded. At the same time, freshly mined stone was carried over, and the wall was slowly taking its initial shape, before it would grow into approximately forty meters tall. Steam and improved combustion engine tractors were coming and going as they dragged the raw materials into place, handling them like Lego pieces.

However, it also meant that I needed to constantly oversee it, including making adjustments where necessary, and monitoring it from Camelot, sometimes holding overnight talks with the team on the ground to discuss progress. Not once had our boring machines hit a cavern, finding underground rivers that were heading southward... Just the past week, we had three floods while mining the mountain for rocks. Luckily, no deaths or serious injuries occurred, but it took a day to remove the boring machine from the flooding cavern. However, today was a peculiar day, as I saw no issues arise, and no reports came of something unexpected, allowing us to finally make the desired progress and catch up to the initial plans, even if just a little. I rubbed at the corner of my eyes, trying to blink away the blur of exhaustion that I was feeling while leaving the bridge.

While walking, my mind wandered, dealing with more than just the construction here. Next to that, I had to keep up with the news coming from Horringar. So, the latest reports of Oleg and Lucca were tucked under one arm, detailing how the first monster herding campaign had gone without me present. I was aiming to make sure every ally we have would feel included... This meant that I had delegated the split-up army to their officers and the other rulers of the Union to gain their own accolades against the monsters. I didn't want them to think that only Avalon and Ishillia did anything, while also ignoring Khulman's contributions. This was my best idea to balance politics. At the same time, my head was full of numbers for supply routes, returning soldier tallies, and lists of rotating teams, all of which blurred together with the number of people I needed to manage. Everybody I took away from our engineer corps to keep the construction going was one less soul to keep maintenance going for my mechs on the front lines. But... the wall was more important.

"Leon."

The voice calling out to me was soft, warm, and patient in a way that immediately made me realize who came to check on me this time around.

"Hm?" I turned, looking at Mikan with a smile, "I thought you all went to sleep already."

"Yes, we did, but you weren't there. Again. You haven't slept properly in days." She pressed a hand to my cheek, tilting my face down so she could study the bags under my eyes, "Geez… Sasha was right, this is not good. You'll collapse before the walls ever stand if you keep this up!"

"Says who?" I chuckled, "Weren't you sleeping for days after going around day and night healing the injured? I can do that too. Maybe even topple your record!"

"That was then, and it was to save lives! I rested still..." She answered, looking at me, concerned.

"Are you, really?"

"Yes!" She answered forcefully, and to be honest, she did look recovered. I mean it, because after using all that magic to heal more than a thousand people, not to count the effort Morgan and Meyli put in, she slept twenty-eight hours straight. Yes... I counted. I even got a scare that her suppressed ancestor may find a way back, but no, nothing like that happened. "Leon?" She asked, noticing that I was zoning out and getting lost in my thoughts. Damn... I may actually be drained here.

"I'm fine." I tried to wave her off, holding my papers up to show her, "We're on a deadline here, Mikan. Winter doesn't wait for us, and I also need to keep myself up-to-date with what the rest of the world is doing. Especially with the Khulman stuff, because the last thing I need is some kind of rebellion or something similar. It is a delicate situation that hasn't been resolved completely, not until a new Khan is officially named."

"If you can give your troops time to rest, you can give time to yourself to do the same!" Her eyes narrowed in the kind of way that told me I was already outnumbered. This was not her alone; this was a ploy of all of them, wasn't it? "Yes," she continued, stomping her feet, "winter may not wait, but your body can't be rebuilt like stone can. You need rest... Coffee doesn't replace sleep!"

"But it may–" Before I could retort, opening my mouth to continue speaking, another voice chimed in from behind her... Ah. Of course. It was indeed a group effort, after all.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

"Operation Husband Maintenance, commencing!" Luna giggled, stepping forward, grabbing a hold of my hand, tearing the papers away, and stashing them into her maid outfit's front-facing pockets. "No excuses to slink away, Leon. Plus, I told Mikan I'd help..."

"Sasha?" I asked, looking at them, and Luna buckled first.

"And Sasha ordered it." She shrugged, "While she keeps Yuri busy, we are to make sure you relax. Otherwise, Yuri would try to exhaust you more with humping. She always does, so... Heh! Be happy for Sasha's noble sacrifice~!"

"What sacrifice?" I asked, looking at them with slanted eyes, my arms on my hips. "They are just fooling around."

"You know how Yuri is." Luna shrugged, "I know full well how she gets when her flip switches! So they are having a girls' night while we take care of you. Sasha is keeping her energy in check, so you don't have to worry about it!"

"Luna—" I began, but she shot me down while Mikan held my arm, preventing me from escaping.

"Nope!" Luna giggled, "Mikan, we must initiate the battle plan!" She held onto my other arm, "Time to drag him to the tub!"

"Yes, yes…" Mikan nodded as they began dragging me towards our bedroom, which meant that Sasha and Yuri were somewhere else... huh. Maybe it's better if I don't know. "You should listen," she continued, "Even Luna knows you're pushing yourself too far."

Well... Coming from the laziest of them that didn't say much... Oh well! I gave up, because I knew that was it. The trap was closed, and I was caught between one of my wives with unyielding gentleness and between the other with suddenly very gleeful playfulness. Honestly? I didn't stand a chance.

"Fine," I sighed, letting them haul me towards the bath, "You win. What should I do, my two mistresses? Hm?"

"Nothing!" Luna giggled, looking at me, enjoying this probably the most, finding it to be a new experience from being usually the submissive one, "We are here to serve you, my Sovereign! That is the plan after all. You just rest, and we do the... um... the rest."

The moment we were in my bathroom aboard the Camelot, Luna had already invaded the space before they dragged me over. It was evident, as there were towels across the prepared chairs, scented candles burning while she hummed as she filled a basin with steaming water that had been preheated for my arrival. She will never be able to deny her origin of being a maid, hehe... While she was preparing that, Mikan shut the door behind us, locking it, then turned me toward her.

"Sit," she ordered, guiding me into one of the chairs as though I were a stubborn child.

"Yes, master." I hummed, making them look at me.

"Good boy," both of them answered in unison. "Let's start with the red crown on your head." Luna got back to me, her fingers undoing my hair, "You've got ink smudges in it somehow... How do you even manage that?"

"Skills. Pure skills." I answered proudly, "It's a personal gift of drawing and redrawing stuff. You get it to places you didn't even touch."

"Huh, good thing you wash your hands before touching us at more sensitive spaces." She ran her fingers through my hair with surprising gentleness despite her quippy mood, then dunked a cloth in the hot water and began scrubbing.

"..." While she was doing that, Mikan just knelt before me, untying my boots, getting them off, "You've been standing for hours without pause. You need a good massage..." Her hands were incredibly soft as she threw them away with my socks still in them, followed by getting my trousers down and beginning to massage warmth back into my calves. "Tell me if it hurts."

"Mhmh... No... it doesn't..." I exhaled slowly, closing my eyes. Damn them... They knew exactly how to corner me... Ah... this was so good...

Soon enough, they had me completely undressed, and after a good, long leg massage, I was soaking in the steaming tub. I briefly even lost my concentration and blacked out while being cared for, skipping a few minutes before recollecting myself. They were too good at this... And soaking, smelling the sweet fragrance of them and the bathwater... I just let my head lean back against the rim, eyes still closed as warmth seeped into all of my stiff muscles. It felt… the best thing ever. Exactly why I started all this nonsense. This was my initial goal from the start... haaaah... Finally. The finish line...

"Good, isn't it?" Mikan murmured behind me, her hands kneading slow circles into my shoulders. "Relax... Let it all go..."

"I'm relaxed," I murmured, and I wasn't lying, "Don't even stop..."

"No, you are stiff," Luna chimed in, "Big difference." She murmured, "You need to go FULLY limp... But don't worry, that's what we're here for." And before I could ask what it was, I just heard her take a deep breath and dunk her head into the water... Oh.

Oh... I see. Not that I opened my eyes, but I felt her lips envelop me. Cheeky little imp. But oh well... it felt incredible and honestly speaking, she only had to come up to air two times before I made her drink it all, her head remaining underwater after I was finished. After that, I was allowing my body and mind to bask in the afterglow, and I let myself sink even deeper into the water. I was no longer there, but just floating between being awake and asleep.

For the first time in probably weeks, I wasn't thinking about anything. At all. I was just... existing. I didn't even notice when Mikan began pulling me up, forcing me to somehow awake, making me realize the water had cooled already. Getting out, they dried me off, Mikan wrapping me in soft towels while Luna fussed over trimming my hair just enough to even the edges and get rid of some of the tangled mess. Then, another round came where oils were rubbed into my sore joints as I just lay on my bed, letting them handle me to their heart's desire.

"You don't know when to rest, hm?" Mikan muttered, and I barely listened, just lying my head in her lap. I am resting... what now?

"Yeah, he is stiff again." Luna shrugged, "Maybe we conditioned him too well? We usually have him do multiple rounds..."

"Then it is our responsibility." Mikan continued, and before I would try to comprehend what was happening, I felt her shift and a moment later her breast was pushed into my mouth, making me suckle it like a baby... Damn... This is life... Drinking milk while being milked...

Haaaah...

Having a spa day in Avalonian style was the best!
