The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 159: Trashfangs

A week later, Saturday morning, in the Guild.

Inside a well-furnished room, Daniel dipped a biscuit into his tea, but it cracked, dropping the bottom half of the biscuit into his tea.

"Fuck… Shit, oh man."

He grudgingly retrieved the soggy biscuit from the tea, tried its taste, and didn't seem to enjoy it very much as he tossed it into the trash.

He was athletic-looking, wiry, and fast, with sun-tanned skin from being outdoors under the sun. He had brown hair tied back in a messy bun and had very alert hazel eyes.

"Yawn~"

James sat on a chair, balancing himself on the back legs of the chair, and he was only inches away from falling backwards.

He was a young man of lean build, wiry muscles, sharp green eyes, and tousled brown hair.

"By whisker and by tail, by moonlight and by floof, we gather in the sacred woof—paws to the earth, snouts to the stars, the great fluff shall guide us far."

Abbott recited a chant… a very strange chant… and had his sideways hand close to his mouth, whispering and mumbling the chant.

He was of average height, slightly stocky, with calloused hands. Dirty blond hair, a perpetual smudge of grease on his face, and round glasses that kept slipping down his nose.

"Sorry for keeping you all waiting!"

In that moment, a tall and poised woman with straight chestnut hair and calm hazel eyes entered the room.

She was quite pretty with an awkward smile, full lips, and round cheeks that made her look very innocent.

"Raquel, why have you invited us all here?"

James asked immediately.

"I finally have something that will help us to get the attention of the Guild's upper echelon. A mission."

Raquel said with a sweet smile, and she put down a mission pamphlet at the table in front of all of them.

"Trashfangs. I think I read about them in a newspaper yesterday. They've been robbing items worth thousands, and they have even targeted people of high status."

Daniel said.

"The Guild believes that it is the doing of Blessed Ones, as, from what the victims have reported, the thieves used black revolvers to threaten them.

"It's very frowned upon for Blessed Ones to rob or do anything harmful to ordinary people, so this is very important for the Guild to keep up the reputation.

"The higher class of Kornacis think highly of the Guild, but that can change if we don't do anything regarding the recent robberies."

Raquel said.

"…Black revolvers. So the doings of Outlaws."

James said with a troubled look as there was a white revolver dangling from his hip.

He was also an Outlaw and received a fair share of discrimination early on, and it had been difficult for him ever since he joined the Guild to be part of their investigation squad.

It was hard for the upper echelon to think good of him because of him being part of the Outlaw Pathway.

However, he had been working hard to change the opinion of Outlaws, but now this happened—a ring of Outlaw robbers.

It made James angry and disappointed that his efforts seemed to be in vain.

"That narrows it down. How many Outlaws with black revolvers are there over in Kornacis?"

Daniel asked.

"…That can be quite many. Black revolvers are the most common type of revolver that Outlaws get."

James said.

"…Wait."

At that moment, Abbott raised his hand, and everyone turned to look at him. With a deep frown, he said.

"You said a ring of thieves, so there are multiple ones of them. How many exactly?"

"The reports say that at least five so far. Five different descriptions have been given. It looks like Trashfangs are not all that interested in hiding their faces when they are committing crimes."

Raquel said.

"Do all of them use black revolvers? Honestly, how can that be possible? A ring of Outlaws, sure, that is possible, but for all of them to share the same-colored revolver?"

Abbott said.

In that moment, others also realized how odd that was. It was very odd.

"What are we thinking then?"

Daniel asked.

"…Are they using fake revolvers? They maybe crafted one from wood or something, painted it black, and are using fake revolvers to threaten their victims?

"The victims, of course, are completely unaware of this and believe they are in real danger. The revolvers are also a trademark of the Outlaws, who are known to be unstable and dangerous.

"They could be using the bad reputation of Outlaws as a weapon."

Raquel said, and then realized what she said, and turned to James with an apologetic look, whispering, "Sorry," but he didn't seem to mind it.

"They could also be borrowing a real Outlaws revolver. They, sure, can't use that revolver, but they can use the fear associated with it to their advantage."

Daniel said.

"…It could be that. So, what do we say? Are we going to catch these scum?"

Raquel asked with a smile.

"I am down."

James said, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Let's do it."

Daniel said with a smile.

"…Amitabha, I will also join you."

Abbott said.

"Excellent! We will start from Lowlife District. It is where all the robberies have taken place. There hasn't been a single day when Trashfangs haven't robbed someone there."

Raquel said with a smile, but then she dropped the smile and said with a serious look as she remembered something.

"Tension over in Lowlife District is pretty high now. The Guild is afraid that there might be a riot over there soon.

"The city has been for a long time now ignoring Lowlife District's issues, and it's only a matter of time before things boil over.

"Dirty streets, dilapidated buildings, and cracked roads. They have had enough, as they have waited long enough for those things to get fixed.

"What Trashfangs currently are doing is not helping. We must be very careful when we get there."
