Chapter 149: Seragon Caves XX

Rhys exhaled softly and loosened the strap of his pack. "Alright," he murmured, "come on out, everyone."

The air shimmered faintly as his tamed beasts responded to the call.

Puddle emerged first — not as a mass of rippling light, but as a little girl formed from it. Her body coalesced from translucent blue mana, the glow within her shifting like moonlit water. Strands of liquid silver framed her face, and when she blinked, her eyes shimmered softly — deep pools of white and gold.

"Puddle," Rhys greeted with a smile.

She beamed up at him, her voice light and echoing faintly, like the sound of water rippling over glass. "Master~!" Then she hopped down, bare feet touching the surface of the pool without sinking. Every step sent glowing rings outward, the water reacting to her presence as if welcoming its kin.

Moonbounce appeared next, descending in a veil of silver light. His glow filled the chamber like soft starlight, reflecting across the mirrored water. He landed gracefully at Puddle's side, wings folding neatly, his gaze warm and calm — as if the stillness of this place resonated with his very essence.

And then the air shifted — growing warmer, brighter.

Aurelius descended.

The divine sun bird unfurled from a burst of golden flame, his feathers refracting hues of sunlight and dawn. Where once his aura had been overwhelming, now it pulsed with tempered grace — a living sun held in balance. At Rhys's level, their mana harmonized perfectly, radiant yet serene.

Caria whistled low, eyes wide as she took in the scene before her — Puddle standing barefoot on the glowing water, Moonbounce gleaming like a fragment of the night sky, and Aurelius radiating sunlight even underground. "Wow," she said, blinking once. "I thought Moonbounce was your strongest, but… all three? You've been holding out on us, haven't you?"

Sophia's gaze lingered on each of them in turn, her usual composure giving way to quiet awe. "The mana signatures they give off… they're remarkable. Each one feels ancient — refined. I can't even gauge their cores properly."

Aria stepped closer, water swirling faintly around her knees as she studied the group. "Puddle alone feels like she's beyond Epic rank," she murmured. "And Aurelius… that aura's close to a divine threshold."

Caria gave a short laugh, shaking her head. "You've got three monsters that could each solo a dungeon floor. Remind me never to bet against you again."

Rhys just smiled faintly, his eyes soft as he looked toward his companions — Puddle giving a shy little wave, Moonbounce lowering his head in quiet pride, and Aurelius preening his wings with regal calm.

"I didn't find them," he said finally. "We found each other."

Aria tilted her head, her expression caught somewhere between admiration and curiosity. "Even so," she said quietly, "it takes more than power to earn loyalty like that. You didn't just tame them, Rhys — you connected with them."

Rhys's smile deepened slightly, the reflection of the glowing pool shimmering across his armor. "Guess we just… understood each other," he said.

Rhys took a slow breath, the soft hum of mana echoing through the chamber, and smiled. "Alright," he said quietly. "You've all earned this. Go on—enjoy yourselves."

Puddle's eyes lit up instantly. "Yay~!" she chimed, her voice echoing like a bell over water. She twirled once, her form shimmering with light, and then darted off across the glowing pool. Wherever her bare feet touched, ripples of blue and silver spread like living stars.

Aurelius ruffled his radiant feathers, the light around him deepening to a rich gold. "Finally, some calm," his voice resonated, smooth and resonant. He stepped into the shallows, each motion releasing a faint shimmer of warmth that danced across the mirrored surface. A low, melodic note left his beak — not a cry of power, but something older, peaceful. The light within the cavern shifted with it, gold and blue weaving together like breath and heart.

Then the water stirred.

From the edge of the pool, a slow, deliberate ripple moved outward — not from above, but below. Rhys's eyes softened, knowing the presence instantly.

Moonbounce emerged.

The water swelled upward, forming a vast, translucent shell before splitting open in light. From within rose the great celestial turtle — his shell gleaming with runes that pulsed like constellations. Along his back shimmered the very wings that had once been a gift of the heavens themselves — broad, silver, and luminous, unfolding with quiet grace. When he moved, the air itself seemed to hush, the mana streams aligning with his rhythm.

He blinked once, slowly, as starlight reflected from his ancient eyes. Then, with a deep, contented rumble, he lowered his head toward Rhys.

"You don't want to play?" Rhys asked.

Moonbounce gave a slow blink, then turned aside and settled comfortably at the edge of the pool, his shell gleaming faintly beneath the blue light. He let out a soft huff — almost like a sigh — and rested his head on the ground.

"You are one lazy guy," Rhys said with a quiet laugh.

Moonbounce responded by closing his eyes completely, clearly uninterested in moving another inch.

Caria, watching from the shallows, burst out laughing. "Even his turtle's got more attitude than half the guild!"

Sophia smirked, tucking her book away. "He's not lazy — he's dignified. There's a difference."

"Sure there is," Caria said, wading forward with a grin. "Let's see how dignified he stays when I do this." She scooped up a handful of glowing water and flung it playfully toward Puddle — who gasped in mock outrage as it splashed against her.

"Hey!" Puddle squealed, her golden eyes brightening. In an instant, she retaliated — summoning a small wave that splashed straight back at Caria, drenching her entirely.

Aria laughed aloud from where she stood. "Looks like you started a war."

"Worth it!" Caria yelled, flicking water in every direction.

Aurelius let out a bemused trill from above, hovering lazily over the glowing pool. "Children," he muttered, though there was warmth in his tone as faint sparks of golden light trailed from his wings.
