Hordes of Zombies
"Something's wrong! The corpses in the graveyard have come back to life!"
An elf ran toward the edge of the Blood Well, shouting. Hearing his words, Serea frowned.
"What did you say?"
She questioned the elf, who had already run up to her. Seeing Serea ask, he respectfully replied, "Queen, it's bad—those dead humans have all revived! They're rampaging through the elven village, causing destruction everywhere. Captain Doluka has already led a team over and sent me to report to you."
"Let's go, we're heading over as well."
Corpses reviving was no trivial matter. Serea wanted to hurry over, but as soon as she took a step—using too much force—the sharp pain in her leg muscles nearly sent her collapsing to the ground.
Seeing this, Celia quickly grabbed her.
"Damn it, Celia, get me over there quickly."
"Alright."
Celia agreed, supporting Serea. Though she was still somewhat weak, with help, Serea didn't find it too hard to walk.
The elven village was just ahead of the Blood Well, not too far away.
Little Black sprang into action first, darting into the village ahead. The Skeleton Warriors also formed up and dashed toward the elven village.
A bit behind, Serea advanced with Celia and Lola trailing her. Hearing that zombies had appeared in the village, the elves who had been around the Blood Well also hurried back.
As soon as they entered the village, Serea heard a series of strange roars.
"Ahhhh!"
Following the sound, Serea saw a somewhat decayed mummy running toward the Blood Well; seeing this, Little Black rushed up and struck with a bone claw.
Rip!
After cutting a zombie in half at the waist, Little Black leaped into the village.
At this moment, there were forty or fifty zombies crowding the elven village. Some were former slave traders, others were goblins or other races that had died there.
But they all had one thing in common: they were heading in the direction of the Blood Well—or rather, toward the depths of the forest beyond the Blood Well—and they would attack any creature that got in their way.
Someone is controlling these corpses!
As an expert in commanding undead, Serea instantly saw through the situation.
Role: Zombie (Undead)Level: 6Status: HungrySpirit: FStrength: BAgility: CEndurance: BConstitution: ECharisma: FLuck: ESkills: Bite, devour
Description: Zombie, in the process of turning into a skeleton. With no intelligence, they only know how to hunt the living. They are the weaklings of the undead. As former dead, they were resurrected after being unintentionally infected with the power of death. Beware—their bodies carry plague!
The stats were extremely poor, but with about thirty zombies rampaging in the elven village, they formed a significant threat.
"The enemy has no intelligence! Keep your distance and use our advantages to fight!"
Doluka commanded the elven warriors. About a dozen rangers and archers formed up, shooting arrows as they retreated. The sluggish zombies fell in groups under their barrage.
But the enemy were zombies—if their heads weren't destroyed, even after falling, they could stand back up.
However, as Little Black led the Skeleton Warrior unit into battle, the situation immediately changed.
"No one can challenge the Queen's majesty, not even the dead!"
Fear Roar!
After buffing the Skeleton Warriors with 'Fear Roar',
Little Black charged in first, swinging his bone claws and turning into a meat grinder on the battlefield.
Nice!
Going in for a massacre—that's very assassin-like!
"Form up!"
The Skeleton Archer, having evolved some basic intelligence, took over command from Little Black.
He had the Skeleton Warriors line up in front of the elves, raising their great shields—no one could break through their defense.
Seeing the Skeleton Warriors had come to their aid, Doluka expressed her gratitude.
"Thank you."
"All for the Queen!"
Triple Shot!
Thwip-thwip-thwip—three zombies were instantly shot in the head.
Witnessing this superb archery, Doluka glanced at the Skeleton Archer in shock.
Is this really a skeleton?Power Shot!
Whirr! The bowstring vibrated as a Power Shot sent an arrow piercing through three enemies, shattering their necks and brains at once.
"......"
Doluka was stunned. She knew the Queen's archer was powerful, but hadn't expected such skill.
For a moment, Doluka didn't know how to react.
Meanwhile, the zombies out front clashed with the Skeleton Warriors, but against their own kind, the Skeleton Warriors showed no mercy.
"For the Queen!"
"For Serea!"
The great shields surged forward, knocking several zombies to the ground, and the Skeleton Warriors swiftly finished them off.
Heads!
Once their heads were destroyed, zombies couldn't get up again.
As fellow undead, the Skeleton Warriors had mastered this technique for destroying their own kind.
Once most of the zombies were slain, the Skeleton Warriors abandoned their positions guarding the archers and charged in a tight formation to finish off the rest.
The zombies' claws and fangs were useless against steel armor and shields, but every headshot from the Skeleton Warriors was a fatal blow.
The battle ended like slicing melons and cutting vegetables—only one zombie remained on the battlefield.
Serea had intentionally left this one alive; she wanted to know why the nearby corpses had revived.
"Stop—restrain that zombie."
At Serea's command, the Skeleton Warriors instantly surrounded and subdued the zombie.
"Done."
Serea clapped her hands. With the zombies all dealt with, she set the Skeleton Warriors to start clearing away the bodies.
But as the clean-up began, Serea received several notifications...
System: Zombie slain. Extracting Death Power. Obtained Death Crystal*1.
System: ...
The power of death from about three zombies could be extracted to form one Death Crystal.
"Hm? I can get materials too? System, you never told me Death Crystals could be acquired this way."
System: The host never asked.
"You don't tell me unless I ask?"
System: Correct.
"......"
Serea fell silent.
"Damn..."
The Skeleton Warriors were carrying and disposing of corpses outside the village.
With the threat gone, the elves who had been hiding came out of their homes.
Doluka approached Serea. Seeing this, Lola asked,
"Report the battle losses."
"Three lightly wounded, no other casualties. But..."
Doluka glanced at the vine walls and wooden houses—the newly repaired village was damaged again.
"That's not important. As long as there are no deaths, it's fine. Have the wounded quickly drink from the Spring of Life, or it'll be hard to deal with any infection or plague."
"Yes."
Doluka left. Serea focused on the restrained zombie.
"Did Your Majesty notice anything unusual?"
"Not yet—I need to investigate further."
With that, Serea walked toward the controlled zombie. She needed to know what caused this small-scale outbreak of the dead.
