Rebirth in Another World as the Undead Queen

Ch. 90

Bloodthirsty Banshees

The solid backs of the Skeleton Warriors gave Camilla an immense shock.

Her initial reaction was panic, as those before her were bloodthirsty undead—something a mere priest like herself could never withstand.

But after a moment's reflection, Camilla realized that these skeletons displayed no hostility. Instead, they were protecting her, just like a knight shielding a princess in a fairy tale, keeping her safely behind them.

For a moment, a faint stirring arose within Camilla's heart, yet the church's teachings warned her: all things representing darkness and death were filth undeserving of existence, and as a clergy member, it was her lifelong mission to purify such 'filth'.

But now, witnessing this scene for herself, Camilla, though she remembered the doctrine, simply couldn't equate the warriors defending her with the word 'filth'.

"Are these really undead..."

Camilla murmured to herself. The answer, undeniably, was yes—and that much was evident from Captain Marlow's trembling legs as he caught sight of those warriors.

But if even the always-brave Captain Marlow looked like that, why didn't she feel afraid at all...?

She pondered this question, just as another wave of undead arrived.

Seeing the team of Skeleton Warriors actually protecting the enemy, "Bondoni" shouted angrily.

"Idiots! Traitors! You will pay for such foolish betrayal!"

Up till now, "Bondoni" had yet to realize the seriousness of the situation.

In his mind, all the undead within the cemetery were his minions—only now, some of those minions had become "traitors"!

The undead charged. The first to rush in were the fodder skeletons, swinging their rusty iron swords like a raging tide.

As the saying went, a necromancer was never afraid of being outnumbered, but running into Serea—a "fake" necromancer—he seemed to run into some tactical issues...

*Crack, crack, crack!*

The skulls chattered their jaws, unable to make a sound, communicating their hostility in this manner as they approached the shield wall.

Could Little Black just let them go?

His bony tail stabbed out, skewering several undead through the shoulders before he snapped it back, pulling a few skeletons right up to him.

*Crack!*

They were reduced to a pile of bones, but a few fearless ones continued to charge.

Little Black decisively struck them down, reaping swathes of skeletons in his wake.

Soul Reaper!

With the skill's effect triggered, Little Black grew more and more courageous as he fought.

Facing these weak skeletons, Serea and her group entered the "everyone's showing off" phase.

Power Shot!

Piercing Shot!

Little White and Vina drew their bows and fired at leisure, relying on the shield wall of Skeleton Warriors for defense.

With such a favorable output environment, the two's kill count rivaled even that of Little Black.

By the time the skeletons reached the shield wall, only a few were left. The mage skeleton hurled a fireball at the stragglers, and then, with the help of other Skeleton Warriors using shield bashes for knockdowns and finishing moves, the skeletons were wiped out!

"You think this is over?!"

That voice echoed again. Then, a surge of deathly power spread over the ground, and as the "dead" skeletons absorbed this force, they wobbled back to their feet.

"Hahaha, my army long ago surpassed the limits of death, but let's see how long you can last?"

To this, Serea smiled faintly.

"Guess I have to get cheeky too..."

As she spoke, Serea raised her palm, expending five death crystals to unleash her own power of death.

"Sorry!"

I've got it too!

Dance of the Dead!

The skeletal corpses began to revive under "Bondoni's" death power—but suddenly, another, purer deathly force competed for possession of the bodies, reviving them even faster.

*Crack, crack, crack!*

"Obey the Queen's command!" x10

A chorus of voices echoed in her mind. The ordinary skeletons couldn't speak, so they could only send waves of loyalty to their master.

Watching the batch that revived first, "Bondoni" felt a dawning sense of dread—then...

*Snap!*

The skeletons picked up the nearby iron swords and hacked at their not-fully-revived 'companions'.

This squad was even stronger than before; ordinary skeletons simply couldn't withstand their blows.

In the awkward turn of events, "Bondoni's" undead legion died a second time before they could even finish reviving...

"Ahhh!"

That voice roared out, but it could do nothing to change the situation; it was as if that mysterious young woman had a natural counter to him.

No, wait!

There was still a chance. He still had elite Skeleton Warriors—those powerful nether undead had to be able to...

*Crash!*

Serea's skeleton minions, after clearing out the skeleton rabble, charged the Skeleton Warriors. Although these were nether undead, stronger than ordinary ones—

These Skeleton Warriors, unlike Serea's with an average level of 16, had only an average level of 11.

Pitted against Serea's average-12 skeletons, with various additional effects, the result was...

A complete rout!

*Crack, crack, crack!*

Serea's skeletons teamed up for the slaughter; two skeletons would overwhelm one Skeleton Warrior, smashing their jaws in excitement—clearly thrilled to be taking down higher-tier nether undead!

"No, impossible!"

Seeing Serea's revived skeletons utterly crush his Skeleton Warriors, "Bondoni" felt his very worldview shatter.

Yet this was his own fault; these Skeleton Warriors had slumbered for who knows how long, and after just awakening, hadn't returned to peak level.

Using them so hastily only invited disaster.

Skeletons and Skeleton Warriors wiped out, while Serea had only lost two regular skeletons.

"Very well—you've succeeded in enraging me. I'll show you the true meaning of terror!"

Ardis, using "Bondoni's" body, roared in fury. As his anger flared, Serea felt the ground begin to tremble lightly.

*Rumble!*The sound of stone colliding filled the chamber. Serea looked around and saw several dozen stone coffins set into the rounded, raised walls.

Eleven of them were slowly opening.

So basically, this was just like running a dungeon: clear the mobs, and here comes the mini-boss...

"You forced my hand. Awaken, my minions—let these ignorant mortals witness the power of Ardis's most fearsome assassination squad!"

*Boom!*

Upright stone coffins swung open, the stone doors crashing to the floor with a resonant boom. As they fell, vibrant cadavers were exposed to the air.

They were all female corpses—their skin was corpse-pale, their eyes blood-red, clad in black leather light armor. They were...

Bloodthirsty Banshees!

Those stats were too strong—certainly worthy of being called a special unit.

Remembering that the jewel in that ring was the blueprint for Bloodthirsty Banshees, Serea grew a little excited.

Her thought was: I want a squad of my own!

As the Bloodthirsty Banshees appeared, a chilling female voice rang out.

"Living ones, leave here at once!"
