Facing such a situation, Zhang Che didn’t try to run at all. He understood very well that he couldn’t escape.

After all, the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s flying speed was a little slow. The middle-aged man’s mount was a five-star gold-quality beast! It could catch up to the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon in matter of seconds.

Let alone the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon, it was likely that even the Purple Jade Condor couldn’t shake off their enemy’s pursuit. Their strengths were on totally different levels!

After summoning the four subdued beasts and having them surround Zhang Che at a distance, the middle-aged man jumped off from about a dozen meters in the air, landing stably with only a slight bend of his knees. He looked at Zhang Che with a faint smile and asked, “This flood dragon of yours looks pretty good. How about selling it to me?”

As expected, the man came for the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon!

Zhang Che narrowed his eyes slightly, calculating. -How should I act to successfully escape from this man, without putting myself in too much danger?-

The middle-aged man didn’t mind that Zhang Che was looking at him warily without replying. He turned to look at the frisky monkey at Zhang Che’s side, revealing an even more interested look in his eye, saying, “Strange. Very strange! This little monkey of yours shouldn’t be at a high level or quality, but actually has the intelligence to use a weapon! And it is even a bow, a long-distance weapon that requires skill! Looks like this little monkey isn’t quite the normal beast, either. How about selling it to me as well?”

Zhang Che still didn’t say a word. Since this man was interested in both the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon and the frisky monkey, it proved that this man wouldn’t kill him easily.

Once a beastmaster died, their subdued beasts would turn into streaks of light and disappear along with the beastmaster, due to the spiritual imprint branded on them. This reality received quite the silent criticism from beastmasters who favored robbing others.

Under such unique rules, robbing became quite the task. Wanting to snatch beast cards from others without killing them was simply a challenge to their intelligence!

No one was stupid enough to not know that their deaths were pretty much guaranteed after handing over the beast cards. As such, most people would choose to fight to their deaths. Even if they were to die, they would rather have the robbers pay a certain price.

Not only that, even if the beastmasters were facing someone they could never hope to win against, only a tiny fraction of them would harbor hopes of the other party keeping their word, sparing them after giving up their beast cards, despite knowing that such possibility was close to impossible.

Seeing Zhang Che keeping silent all this while, the middle-aged man wasn’t angered in the least. In his opinion, those two subdued beasts with shocking potential were as good as his.

“Don’t worry. I’ll keep my word. As long as you hand over those two subdued beasts, I’ll definitely let you leave. After all, we have no feud against each other. I’m only looking for riches; I’m not that willing to stain my hands with the blood of fellow humans.”

The middle-aged man looked at Zhang Che, maintaining his faint smile. A faint cold light flashed across his narrow eyes.

-You can’t use them even if I gave them to you!-

Naturally, Zhang Che wouldn’t tell the man that those two beasts weren’t his subdued beasts, but his pets. Other than himself, there shouldn’t be anyone who could tame them. Could there be someone else in this world who had a divine object like the rainbow crystal?

Noticing the indifferent gaze in the middle-aged man’s eyes, Zhang Che finally broke his silence. “How can I believe you? What if you killed me right after taking my beasts? Would there be anyone else who would know?”

What Zhang Che needed the most right now was time. The Purple Jade Condor and the other beasts on the other side were slaughtering every beast they could find after receiving Zhang Che’s orders, in the hopes of getting Zhang Che to Tier Four as soon as possible!

“Hah, who doesn’t know of my, Wu Yunfeng’s, reputation in Qian Wei City? I said I won’t kill you, and that’s that, as long as you hand over those two subdued beasts obediently. Otherwise, heh heh…” the middle-aged man chuckled. His face turned grave immediately after. The words that came after his chuckle didn’t have to be said explicitly.

Zhang Che let out a chuckle as well, saying, “Although I have no idea whether your reputation is as you said, I will choose to believe your words…”

Seeing Zhang Che finally giving in, Wu Yunfeng curled his lips up into a slight smile.

Zhang Che paused for a moment, before finishing his sentence with a ridiculing face, “…you won’t kill me, but your subdued beasts will surely act immediately. Isn’t that right?”

“Looks like you’re choosing the penalty instead!” Wu Yunfeng’s patience finally ran out. His face turned cold, a cold light flashed in his eyes. With a wave of his hand, his surrounding powerful subdued beasts pounced at Zhang Che simultaneously. He decided to make Zhang Che suffer a little.

On the other hand, Zhang Che waved his right hand and recalled all of his subdued beasts and pets into his spiritual sea as Wu Yunfeng’s subdued beasts jumped at him, while his left hand stealthily moved towards a zipper on his backpack.

Wu Yunfeng was taken abac,k seeing Zhang Che giving up on resisting and actually recalling his beasts back into his spiritual sea. He halted his subdued beasts’ advance, and smiled with a mocking face. “You’re a tough one, aren’t you? But did you think I’d kill you so easily? Hahaha! I can assure you that you’ll surely hand over those two beast cards obediently!”

In the next moment, a dark golden ray of light landed in Wu Yunfeng’s palm and turned into a weirdly-shaped bugle horn-like object.

He looked at Zhang Che mockingly as he brought the weird bugle horn to his mouth, blowing into it.

No sound was produced. However, Zhang Che revealed an astonished look in his eyes, and his expression turned into one of extreme pain. He suddenly cried out loud and fell to the ground, rolling about bitterly, his hands holding onto his head.

Wu Yunfeng blew on that soundless bugle horn for nearly a whole minute, only stopping when Zhang Che’s screams slowly turned into weak groans, his body curled up, laying on the ground silently. Wu Yunfeng smiled faintly, slowly walking towards Zhang Che.

After getting close to Zhang Che, Wu Yunfeng asked chuckingly, “How is it? The taste of my Soul-Sucking Bugle Horn?”

At this moment, however, the supposedly incapacitated Zhang Che suddenly sat up. A dark golden ray of light suddenly shot out from between his brow and transformed into a savage beast with hints of scarlet flames dancing around it, covered in iridescent scarlet fur with golden spots, and a pair of sharp, curved horns on its head.

This beast wasn’t very large in size, only about one and a half meters tall. Its body length was just shy of three meters, including its tail. However, it gave off an alarming level of threat to Wu Yunfeng.

“A mid-tier dark gold-quality beast! How is that possible!?” Wu Yunfeng’s face changed abruptly. Just as he was about to order his subdued beasts to protect him, he saw that savage beast open its mouth and shoot out a column of scarlet flames, instantly engulfing him.

“Ahhh!…” a short scream rang out. Wu Yunfeng was swallowed by that column of scarlet flames, burned into a pile of ash almost instantly, and disappeared from this world.

At the same time, the handful of powerful subdued beasts that were jumping at Zhang Che let out sorrowful cries in unison, before turning into streaks of light and dissipating.

It was like that powerful Tier Six beastmaster had never appeared here at all. Only the spot he was standing on was burned to what resembled a ceramic glaze, with some barely noticeable ashes on it.

Greed was usually what killed those who were greedy.

Wu Yunfeng, a Tier Six beastmaster, was bent on obtaining the two “subdued beasts” of Zhang Che with astounding potential. He used all means to achieve his objective, and as he was about to succeed, Zhang Che had unexpectedly turned the tables on him, leaving him dead.

“The matter this time should be taken as a harsh lesson!”

Zhang Che stood up on his feet, uninjured. His eyes narrowed slightly, coming to a decision. -In the future, no matter how weak my enemies seem, I have to kill them the first chance I get. I mustn’t have any greedy thoughts, or I might end up like Wu Yunfeng, losing my life without even knowing what hit me.-
