Chapter 815. She Loves Your Father!

The Incubus System Chapter 815. She Loves Your Father!

"She is your partner? One of your women?"

She settled back, distancing herself from our previous closeness, and I followed suit, taking a seat as I confirmed her inquiry with a simple, "Yes."

Ruby's eyes widened in shock as her words trailed off into stunned silence.

"You slept with her? I mean…" Ruby struggled to find words to express her surprise. "She loves your father very deeply. She always mentioned him and always missed him. Even though you are his child, I didn't expect her to do this," Ruby blurted out, her thoughts flowing freely. There was no trace of jealousy in her tone, only raw astonishment.

I met her gaze squarely, my expression unflinching. "She is my partner," I clarified firmly. "But I never touched her," I added, emphasizing my restraint. I allowed my eyes to shift downward, my gaze settling on the floor.

"She is the only partner I have never touched," I confessed, my voice tinged with an unspoken complexity.

"You look disappointed. Do you hate the fact that your dad still occupies her mind?"

Ruby's reaction surprised me.

Her astute observation didn't escape my notice.

"Maybe," I responded nonchalantly, my tone reflecting the casual ambivalence I felt toward my father's lingering presence in Clea's heart. With a snap of my fingers, the fabric of my clothes once again concealed my body.

Ruby's inquisitive nature prompted her to seek further clarification. "Maybe?" she asked, her eyes focused squarely on me, her expression expectant.

I met her gaze, my own filled with a mixture of sadness and understanding.

"Pain…" I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. I turned to Ruby, my eyes locking onto hers with a seriousness. "Because I could feel the pain when I entered into a contract with her," I admitted somberly, recalling the deep well of emotions that had surged through our connection. "The pain when she lost her family and my father. Also, her love for them," I added, my voice tinged with bitterness.

Ruby's curiosity didn't wane. She pressed for more answers. I understood why she was so persistent; my connection with Clea was clearly something that intrigued her.

I sighed. "But of course, that was not the case," I began, my voice tinged with a touch of resignation. "I was not interested in competing with a dead person, especially since he was already gone," I admitted.

I leaned back, my gaze unfocused for a moment as I contemplated the intricacies of this situation.

My tone somber. "And I knew replacing someone precious in one's life was very difficult," I acknowledged, speaking from a place of understanding and empathy. "It was just... Since I had entered into a contract with her, and I knew how deeply she loved my late father, there was my desire to make her disconnect from her pain of loss."

I paused. "But on the other hand," I continued, my voice softening, "I knew, with my status, with the many women around me, I would never be able to replace my father who put Mrs. Clea as the only woman in his heart."

Ruby's gaze held a different quality, one that contrasted sharply with her usual madness.

I decided to lighten the mood, offering a faint smile to dispel the somber atmosphere. "Forget about it," I began, my tone casual as if discussing trivial matters. "Maybe I just felt defeated that I couldn't win her heart," I said, my voice tinged with a hint of self-deprecating humor. "Or my pride was hurt because I bragged, thinking she would come to me to fulfill her primal desire, and I was wrong."

With that, I moved away from our conversation, walking over to a nearby refrigerator. It held an assortment of drinks and a few desserts, including some pudding. My eyes immediately lit up with interest when I spotted a familiar beverage.

"Oh, cola!" I exclaimed, my mood lifting as I reached for one and cracked it open, savoring the satisfying fizz as I took a refreshing sip.

I paused, suddenly turning my attention back to Ruby, who was still naked. Suspicion colored my voice as I raised an eyebrow and asked, "You didn't mix anything in this drink, right?" My skeptical tone was hard to miss, but given our unusual circumstances, it was a reasonable question. After all, she had exhibited some rather erratic behavior earlier. Well, I could neutralize it though.

Her response was immediate, she shook her head. "No, of course not," she affirmed, clearly taken aback by my sudden change in demeanor. It was as though my demonic side had momentarily receded, allowing my more human instincts to take over.

I couldn't help but defend myself, slightly annoyed by her judgmental expression. "Don't look at me like that," I retorted. "I was human once, you know," I added, frowning as I grabbed the cola and took a sip.

"I'm shocked. You can change that quickly in a snap. I mean, you act like a real demon there, then you act like the next Ethan I know," Ruby said.
