Gene Fusion System: Crime Hunter

Chapter 198: Final Preparations Before Closing the Net

Just after Luo Fei and Han Tiesheng resolved the situation on-site, less than an hour and a half later, the investigation team arrived in full force and detained all the black-clad thugs, escorting them back to the bureau for custody.

Zheng Changjun even personally rushed over.

"Luo Fei, what's your plan next? Give me a rough outline of your arrangement, so I can explain it to Jianguo when I return."

"We plan to first clarify the situation regarding Yang Wei. Once we've established the details concerning Yang Wei, then Yundi's charges will be fully substantiated, and at that time, we can proceed on both fronts."

"Good, I'm relieved with your explanation."

Then Zheng Changjun turned to Han Tiesheng.

"Comrade Han Tiesheng, I'm entrusting this area to you."

"Rest assured, Director Zheng."

Once the others left, only Luo Fei, Han Tiesheng, and Qi Tongwei remained in the house.

The doctor who came with the investigation team also examined Yang Wei's unconscious aunt, diagnosing it as stress-induced shock due to excessive fright, which would ease with some rest.

Qi Tongwei divided the intelligence department's documents left by Zheng Changjun into three parts, allowing the three of them to understand in turns.

This is the advantage of collaboration: intelligence sharing, double manpower, and hence much greater efficiency.

"Wang Huirong, aged fifty-three, took on a maternal role for Yang Wei after the death of his parents, caring for him until he graduated from college."

Luo Fei nodded after reading it.

"This boy is indeed a filial son, but sadly, a life was squandered by Liang Zhichao and their ilk."

"If Wang Huirong knew that the three million was something her nephew exchanged his life for, and that it was done willingly to fulfill his filial duties."

"Alas, words fail to express…"

Beside him, Han Tiesheng was full of anger.

"These people are heartless, enticing others with money to take reckless risks, absolutely deranged."

"But then again, Yang Wei was also at fault for not weighing his actions carefully, being such an adult and yet so reckless, you can't blame others for that."

Luo Fei and Qi Tongwei both sighed deeply.

That's fate, it's the destiny he set for himself.

After a while, Wang Huirong slowly opened her eyes. Seeing the three police officers standing in front of her, she was initially shocked, but then realized these were the people who saved her, and hurriedly got up to thank them with clasped hands.

Qi Tongwei quickly stated their purpose, explaining they came to understand the situation from her.

"Officers, you're here to ask about Yang Wei, aren't you?"

Unexpectedly, she got straight to the point.

This caught Luo Fei and his team by surprise; they thought they would have to understand her first before opening up the topic, but she directly mentioned the key person.

"My nephew... is no longer, is he?"

Speaking of this, Wang Huirong's eyes reddened, and her voice became choked with sobs.

With these words, the three of them finally realized.

The incident had happened suddenly, and after the hospital silencing case, they were only focused on investigating the identities and backgrounds of the deceased, failing to inform the families of their deaths in a timely manner.

At least Yang Wei's family was not informed.

It now seemed that the aunt in front of them was certainly informed, or she was intimately aware of what Yang Wei had done.

"Yes, Yang Wei recently barged into a hospital with a gun, where he and two other accomplices killed a witness from a counterfeit money group. The assassination failed, and he jumped from the building with the person, resulting in his death. Due to the sudden nature of the event, we failed to notify the family immediately."

Upon officially receiving the notification of her nephew's death, Wang Huirong was filled with sorrow, initially covering her face to sob quietly for a while.

Luo Fei and the other two stood by silently, not disturbing her.

It's natural for people to grieve at such times, and they couldn't say much.

Afterward, Wang Huirong got up to pour them a glass of water, indicating a conversation with substantial information was about to unfold.

While the three waited, Wang Huirong retrieved three items from a nearby drawer and placed them in front of them.

Upon closer inspection, the three saw it was a card, a box, and a business card.

"Officers, my nephew had a hard life; both his parents died while he was still in middle school. I had no children of my own, so I chose to take care of him..."

"I can't say much else, but this child's filial piety was impeccable. Over the years, he's treated me better than his own mother."

"Not only did he often visit me, but no matter how busy he was, he would send things during holidays and festivals. Neighbors praised him as a good kid."

Listening to her account, Luo Fei and the others didn't interrupt, choosing instead to hear her out.

"But later on, the child became increasingly out of sorts; naturally, as his elder, I could see it too."

"After graduating, he intensely studied computers. I didn't know much about what he did, but he eventually used his skills to find a job at a network company in our Binhai, as some sort of engineer, and later received a high salary, living a progressively better life."

Upon hearing this, Luo Fei became attentive, as he knew the crucial point had arrived.

"Later, he suddenly resigned, claiming he had other work to do. I didn't pay much attention... but his so-called new job was very peculiar, sometimes going on trips for days on end, and other times staying home for a month, yet earning quite a bit."

"Officers, what kind of job is so leisurely and lacks organization? I didn't understand his reasons, but I only knew that living like an unemployed vagrant wouldn't win him a wife, so I advised him to work steadily."
