Warhammer Divine Throne

Chapter 149 Deep into the Forest_3

"Bastogne Beast Slayer Corps! Forward!" It was Marquis Gabriel, a battle-hardened Kingdom Knight with vast experience against the Beastmen. He commanded the infantry of Bastogne: "Fight! Glory! For the Lady, for Bastogne!"

"For the Lady, for Bastogne!" The Bastogne Beast Slayer Corps had extraordinary experience dealing with the Beastmen's assaults. They raised their long halberds.

Masses of Horned Beasts collided into the ranks of long halberds, suffering heavy casualties. Many Horned Beasts were impaled right through.

"Kill... kill!" More Beastmen surged out from the depths of the forest. A ferocious Razor Beast, covered with various barbs, charged straight at Laine, its foul blood-red jaws wide open, revealing sharp fangs.

"Hah!" Laine swept his Warhammer, killing the Razor Beast instantly. The massive force sent it flying, crashing into the trunk of a large tree, silent. A few Horned Beasts surrounded him only to be smashed one by one by Laine. The Beastmen's relied strength was ineffective in front of the Holy Grail Knight.

Then, amidst the watching crowd, the Holy Grail Knight extended his hand engulfed in blue flames.

"Spiritual Storm!"

Pale blue lightning appeared in the forest, ravaging the paths of the Beastmen's emergence and advance. The fragile Inferior Horned Beasts and Chaos War Dogs were reduced to charred remains within seconds, even the tough-skinned Horned Beasts screamed miserably under the Spiritual Storm.

"Advance!" Julius instantly seized the moment when the Beastmen's formation fell into chaos. He led the charge personally, advancing in three lines. Sensing unfavorable odds, the Beastmen immediately retreated, abandoning some miscellaneous troops and disappearing into the forest.

The peasants loudly cheered their victory. They didn't know why this Master Knight of the Holy Grail could unleash lightning, nor why he was so strong, but none of that mattered; they didn't care to know either.

They only knew that as long as the Master Knight of the Holy Grail was there, they had hope for advancement; as long as he was there, victory would eventually come.

Only Laine's face was grim; he knew this was most likely just the beginning.

It seemed the Beastmen were probing how many troops this army truly had.

Indeed, following this attack, the Beastmen commenced an uninterrupted harassment of the army.

Every two or three hours, hordes of Beastman Warbands would appear and harass the camp, wielding War Axes, throwing javelins, constantly disturbing the Right Army's camp.

Although Laine led the army in repelling the Beastmen's harassment continuously, he couldn't alleviate or recover the army's exhaustion. Under the Beastmen's harassment, the Right Army couldn't rest properly, food lost its taste, the nights were sleepless, suffering immensely.

Fortunately, Laine constantly boosted the morale of the peasants and knights. This energetic and spirited Holy Grail Knight barely needed rest. He continually led the knights and peasants against the Beastmen's harassment.

By deep night, both the Brittania army and the Beastmen were utterly exhausted.

On a distant cliff, the Beastmen Beast King "Blood Horn" Maras and "Heart-Eater" Groz observed the Right Army's camp, opening their mouths to reveal sharp fangs: "These humans... knights... too few, Great Horned Beast... War Gang... crush them!"

After days of scouting, the Beastmen "indeed" discovered the knights' troop allocations. They judged that the flags of the human armies on the left and center routes were numerous, likely numbering over thirty thousand each, but the Right Army had the fewest soldiers. Through repeated harassment and scouting, the Beastmen estimated that the Right Army had only about three thousand combat-ready troops.

The Screaming Great Shaman signaled for the Beast King to calm down, opened his rotting mouth, and spewed out a stream of green pus, attracting a large number of flies to swirl around: "Not... yet... Holy Grail!"

"Holy Grail... Holy Grail... disgusting... parasites! He won't know... the forest... belongs to us... the weather... belongs to us!"

"The rainy season is coming... the Holy Grail's... demise is coming!"
