Warhammer Divine Throne

Chapter 151 Counterattack on a Rainy Night

Deni swore that he spoke these words in the clearest and most standard language.

"Tomorrow night? It will rain?" Laine's face showed some curiosity. "Tell me the reason, soldier. It seems you are from Bastogne?"

"Yes, I am from Bastogne, a hunter here in Arden Forest. It always rains at night on the fourth of September every year. Holy Grail Knight, what I say is absolutely true. My family has been hunting in Arden Forest for decades. Every year, on the night of September fourth, it definitely rains here!" Deni earnestly added.

Laine furrowed his brows and continued to ask, "The whole Arden Forest rains? I haven't heard..."

"I would never dare to deceive the Holy Grail Knight. I swear, it's true. Every year, on the night of September fourth, this area of the forest will rain, and it will be a long-lasting thunderstorm. The rain will then spread across the entire forest. By approximately September sixth, the heavy rain will completely stop, and the forest will usher in a long period of sunshine." Deni knelt on the ground, "I am willing to swear by Shalya that everything I say is true."

"What is your name?"

"I am Deni, Holy Grail Knight."

"...Tomorrow night, tomorrow night." Laine patted Deni on the shoulder, signaling that his information was useful, and then had the knights take him away. "Get him something to eat; this information might be very useful to us."

"Yes!" The Ranger Knight immediately responded loudly. He gave the peasant a look of envy, unable to disobey the Holy Grail Knight's orders. The peasant received a bowl of meat soup and two barley loaves.

Returning to the scene with four people, seeing Laine repeatedly muttering about the heavy rain tomorrow night, Julius said with interest, "Do you believe what that peasant said?"

Before Laine could answer, Marquis Gabriel's eyes lit up as he took over the conversation, "Yes, every September, Arden Forest ushers in a late rainy season; I just didn't know the exact time. After all, knights don't pay much attention to this."

Surya stood up, walked to Julius' side, her captivating sea-blue eyes first looking at Laine, then her brother, saying, "If it rains, it will be very disadvantageous to us. Soldiers hate fighting in the rain, and knights will also worry about their armor rusting and choose to cover their armor with oiled cloths."

Laine nodded vigorously, having already thought of the upcoming scenario. "Then, with the heavy rain arriving, the army cannot advance on muddy and soft ground. We would choose a place to shelter from the rain; knights would put away their armor to prevent rust, and peasant soldiers would each find trees and caves to avoid the heavy rain."

"Lord Laine is right. If what that peasant Deni said is not false, then several consecutive hours of heavy rain will make everyone irritable. When we let our guard down, the Beastman Army will appear... Our army is not good at fighting in jungles and rain, but the Beastmen are fearless." Surya continued softly.

"That's right! That's right!" Laine muttered to himself, "Precisely, this is what it is. The Beastmen are waiting; they are waiting for heavy rain, and we were oblivious to these circumstances. If it weren't for that peasant named Deni risking his life to inform us, who knew it would rain heavily tomorrow night?"

"It's an opportunity for the Beastmen, but also our chance!"

"Order the entire army to take turns resting and allocate food according to pre-war standards!"

"Be sure to ensure that everyone returns to their best condition by tomorrow afternoon!"

"Yes!"

Upon confirming how the Beastmen would attack, the entire army began to take full advantage of their rest. Except for a small guard, everyone received ample rest time.

The next afternoon, the weather grew increasingly sultry, and the air seemed to be filled with the smell of gunpowder. Soldiers began to organize their weapons, and knights gathered within the camp, having a hearty meal of bread and smoked meat, along with various vegetables.

By dusk, the entire camp was ready. Soldiers lined up in rows, and all the knights were fully armored.

Inside the forest, a strong wind roared, and black clouds gradually covered the sky.

Laine and others stood in the Central Army, the Holy Grail Knight leaning on his Griffin Warhammer, suddenly smiling at Julius beside him, "This battle directly decides the fate of our army. Who would have thought? Perhaps the outcome of this war will be rewritten by a peasant. If it weren't for his reminder, perhaps we would be looking for a place to shelter from the rain?"

"Father always taught us that peasants are an indispensable part of the nation. I never understood it before; now I do." Julius nodded gently, his face stern. "Laine, I understand why you are favored by the Lady. This is the Holy Grail Knight? If it were me, I definitely wouldn't have the patience to listen to what a peasant says."

"Knights have what knights are skilled at; peasants have what peasants are skilled at. In this country, knights determine the entire nation's strength, while peasants determine the entire nation's foundation. Knights cannot exist without peasants, and peasants need the protection of knights." Laine could feel the strong wind in the forest almost making it impossible for him to open his eyes, a flurry of dry branches and leaves flying within the massive oak forest.

Thunder rolled in from the distant sky.

The sky gradually darkened, and the sun slowly disappeared into the clouds.
