Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 284 Last Stand

The 30th day of survival.

Today marks the last day of the 30-day trial requirement. As long as Kane and the others make it through today, the first trial will be considered a success.

At this moment, Kane and his team are resting in a narrow tunnel, with Meizike controlling red healing particles to treat their injuries.

This tunnel doesn't seem like a good place to hide and block the night's wind and snow.

Because the tunnel is relatively long, the sky can be seen directly above, with the only advantage being the very narrow entrance.

However, Kane and his team chose this place not to rest but to engage in their final battle with the pursuers behind them.

Since the day Kane discovered that pursuers were preparing to surround them, they have been on the run, without resting for a day and a night.

Looking at the map and the number of pursuers behind them, they had no choice but to prepare for this final showdown, as they were cornered and surrounded.

With this in mind, Kane and his team risked injury to eliminate the persistent cavalry chasing them.

Within this massive siege, they found a defensible spot to take their final rest.

Everyone leaned against the wall and fell asleep without any intention of guarding.

Lilulu fluttered her wings, hovering at the tunnel entrance and looking into the distance.

She is waiting for the pursuers to surround them so she can alert Kane and his team to prepare.

The scarlet sky quietly turned pitch black as three moons rose into the sky.

By the glow of the three moons, they could see the dense mass of pursuers closing in.

Lilulu has already awakened Kane and his team, and now everyone stands at the tunnel entrance, waiting for the pursuers.

The pursuers knew that after battling Kane and his team for over ten days, they would finally fall into their hands and chanted in unison.

"Hoo-ha! Hoo-hoo!"

The orderly shouts formed a sound wave that rushed towards Kane and the others, trying to intimidate them and apply psychological pressure, inducing them to surrender.

"Bah!" Longbei spat disdainfully at the side, witnessing this.

What nonsense, do these people really think they're formidable? With such momentum, they dare try to intimidate us.

What a line-up of ants!

Compared to the Demon Legion of the past, this is worthless.

The front line stopped, and archers stepped forward, bending their bows and shooting arrows at Kane and his team.

Seeing the dense arrows flying towards them, Kane and the others retreated into the tunnel, and the arrows slammed into the surrounding mountain walls.

Kane and his team chose this place for a reason; although the long tunnel is a dead end, the narrow entrance allows only a few soldiers to enter, with a giant rock blocking directly above.

To eliminate Kane and his team, soldiers have to line up and advance one by one, exhausting Kane and his team.

Surrounding them and hacking them to death is impossible, which they might have anticipated when choosing this place.

The soldiers formed a long line, advancing orderly toward the entrance.

Kane and Kreya lined up in one row, while Meizike and Longbei in another, attacking alternately.

Finally, the two sides met within the tunnel.

Two soldiers at the front held shields, and two soldiers behind them thrust long spears towards them.

Longbei wielded a shield and a long spear, while Meizike used two longswords and a shield.

Facing the thrusting spears, they deflected them aside, with Kane and Kreya behind them thrusting their spears forcefully.

These two spear masters were far stronger than the soldiers.

The spears thrust by the two soldiers at the front were blocked, the spears redirected to stab the soldiers behind, killing them.

The two soldiers fell to the ground and turned to ash, leaving space for more behind them.

This is the disadvantage of killing dungeon creatures because it doesn't create a blockage for the soldiers behind them.

Relying on his height, Longbei thrust his spear from below, penetrating the soldier's legs, then drew his giant axe for a lower strike.

As the soldiers screamed in pain and couldn't defend themselves, Meizike pierced their throats and heads with his longswords.

The fallen soldier's tower shield was quickly picked up by Meizike and Longbei.

With the tower shields, they could better block the incoming attacks.

Lilulu's only task was to wipe the sweat off Kane and the others' faces to keep their vision clear and provide them with water as needed.

Against the endless stream of soldiers, Kane and his team took their time, fighting carefully before killing them.

This was to delay time, as their goal wasn't to eliminate all soldiers, but to make it through the night.

The decision for this final battle was blessed with unusually clear skies, with even the temperature returning to normal, with no sign of the howling winds and snowstorms of past nights.

As time passed, Longbei and Meizike collected many wounds.

Their rib and finger bones had begun to fracture.

After clearing a few soldiers in the front, Kane and Kreya quickly switched places with Longbei, taking the front row to give them a chance to breathe.

Time slowly progressed, and the three moons in the sky moved from above their heads to the other side of the cliff, visible in light but not in form.

Kane and the others were pushed to the end of the tunnel.

Meizike collapsed weakly behind them, his limbs broken, kneeling in a pool of blood, mistaken for dead if not for his faint breathing.

Only Kane and his three companions were still struggling to hold on, their clothes soaked and stained with blood.

Lilulu kept fluttering her wings around them, furiously wiping the sweat and blood off their faces, unable to keep them clean.

A spear thrust forcefully, and Kreya's sword blade tried to block it but was weakly deflected to the side, causing the spear to pierce her abdomen.

Lilulu grabbed a handful of lime and sprinkled it on the soldier's helmet.

Kreya gripped the spear in her abdomen, using her sword blade to kill the soldier.

Meanwhile, Longbei and Kane had holes all over their bodies, as another spear struck them, Kane gripping the shaft tightly to prevent it from penetrating further.

Longbei had already fallen to the ground, a broken spear still lodged in him, and his one-handed axe lay on the ground.

Lilulu exerted all her energy trying to drag Longbei backward.

In this narrow tunnel, the ground was covered in thick dust.

Kane and Kreya abandoned defense completely, charging into the soldiers' ranks, attacking all surrounding soldiers.

The crimson sunlight poured into the tunnel from the sky.
