Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 371: First Encounter with 7 Stars

The scorching star in the sky wantonly emits its astonishing heat.

This heat is enveloped in the sunlight emitted by the blazing sun, scorching the ground.

Below, the vast, gigantic forest with its tall canopy interlocks, blocking these sun rays from entering their interior.

In this forest seemingly as tall as giants, only the higher and larger can absorb the nutrients accompanying the sunlight of the scorching sun.

Because the tall canopy is layered, blocking all the sunlight, the forest's interior compared to the outside's scorching weather is much cooler, and of course much darker.

Kane and his team continue to move towards their target, which is still in the forest's core area. Judging by the map's range, they may have only just crossed the forest's outskirts and entered the interior.

Since their departure in the morning to now, they've encountered many animals. These animals, as expected, are extraordinarily large, like oversized versions of their normal counterparts outside.

Many beasts, seeing Kane and their size, wanted to test their strength, but were intimidated by Kane's occasionally emitting aura, fleeing with their tails between their legs towards the distance.

"Oh no!"

As Kane and his team advance into the forest, they suddenly hear a sound from the side. Looking towards the source, they see Lilulu entangled by a vine.

Perhaps being in the forest has set free Lilulu's nature, and she often plays among the various flowers, plants, and trees around.

Most trees and plants provide her protection.

Seeing Lilulu wrapped by a vine, they were somewhat astonished. However, as teammates, they immediately prepared to attack the vine to rescue Lilulu. But before they could act, Lilulu broke free of the vine with her bare hands and snapped it.

She then grabbed the remaining vine, which was trying to recoil, and pulled it outward forcefully. Eventually, she suddenly let go, holding the broken vine, and due to inertia, spun twice in the air before stopping, while the vine in her hand had broken from the middle, not removed from the root. It seems the vine sacrificed part of its body to ensure its survival.

Watching Lilulu's series of actions, Kane and the team remembered that though Lilulu's physical strength was the weakest in the team, she was still a silver Explorer, and the vine was merely of copper level at best.

Thus, it was run off by a mage with sheer physical strength.

"If we go further, we will encounter moving plants," said Lilulu, seemingly from some unknown intelligence.

Listening to Lilulu's words, Longbei didn't mind and muttered to himself, "I wonder if these moving plants are edible, or taste good."

Having been in this dungeon for just a few days, Longbei developed a tendency to want to taste everything he saw, to see if it was tasty.

However, it's inevitable. This dungeon is such that the roadside leaves, branches, flowers, grasses, shrubs, roadside stones, and clear river water could all be edible, even delicious.

So can you really blame Longbei? You can't; anyone would be confused when they came here.

After a minor episode, everyone continued to move forward.

After half a day's journey, they avoided many inexplicable and meaningless attacks.

According to Yoyo, they have crossed more than half of the forest, and soon they will reach the area where the Slime Skirt resides.

"Boom!" "Boom!"

Upon hearing the loud noise from afar, they immediately paused their steps and hid cautiously behind a giant tree.

Due to the dense and tall leaves in this forest, Cotton Candy couldn't float in the sky continuously as a scout like outside.

After entering this forest, Cotton Candy, rarely during dungeon exploration, remained with Kane and the team.

Seeing the source of the constant rumbling from afar, Kane opened his Eagle Eye to take a closer look.

In the extreme distance, he spotted a large cluster of magic reactions appearing in his visual range; the large cluster of magic reactions, upon careful sizing, seemed to be some kind of massive quadrapedal creature.

With each movement, its four limbs created a massive noise, indicating its size and weight.

Seeing the size displayed by the gigantic creature during its movement, Kane sketched a simple depiction and handed it to Yoyo for comparison and identification.

Yoyo quickly found the target, since such a large size located in this area is highly distinctive.

The creature surprisingly was a seven-star level.

A seven-star level creature means its power ranges from at least a silver bottleneck level, up to gold.

Although categorized as seven-star level creatures, the differences between them are tremendous.

And the one creature Kane and his companions could hear now was precisely a golden-level one, an organism whose strength should be in a relatively complete state at the golden level.

Such a creature was not something Kane and his team could deal with. Even the most arrogant person wouldn't think they could attack a golden-level with silver-level strength, let alone a golden-level creature in perfect condition.

Even though Kane and his team were invincible at the silver level, advancing to the golden level was a watershed, one in the sky and one on the ground.

The creature making the noise was a green giant elephant in essence.

According to the illustration on the manual, the reason this elephant was green was because its surrounding skin was covered with moss and vine plants, with many small animals inhabiting it in a mutually beneficial relationship.

The elephant could reach heights of over 20 meters and lengths of over 30 meters, not to mention its powerful trunk.

As a magic creature, it also possessed many magic abilities.

The magical capabilities of a golden-level creature were beyond what Kane and his team could withstand at the moment.

But there was good news; this kind of creature generally had no hostility towards explorers, belonging to those that wouldn't bother you as long as you didn't intentionally provoke it, even if you pass in front of it.

Because this elephant does not eat meat or grass but survives on photosynthesis and underground energy.

Fortunately, when the dungeon issues the ultimate seven-star hunting task list, it doesn't specify fixed targets; it's considered a pass if you can hunt one.

One can only imagine the gold content of seven-star creatures.

However, it is rumored that this dungeon itself did not initially have creatures of such exaggerated strength; they grew due to the dungeon master's cultivation and development.

After understanding this monster's information, Kane and his companions relaxed a bit and then began to slowly move toward the direction of the noise, watching the elephant moving in the forest from a distance.

As the elephant traversed places abundant with trees, Kane and his team thought it would knock down trees, but unexpectedly, the trees moved away, clinging to its skin.

Though the elephant was of enormous size, every movement did not harm any plant in the forest, including flowers and grasses crushed under foot; they seemed to spring back into shape with even more vitality after it lifted its foot.

Looking at this massive creature, Kane couldn't help but feel a bit shocked.

Because the elephant, coupled with its appearance harmonizing with plants under the sunlight, emanated a sacred natural feeling.

After watching for a while and feasting their eyes, Kane and his companions bypassed the elephant and continued advancing deeper.

This giant elephant successfully brought Kane and his team back to an explorer's mindset.

Recently, due to various delicious foods in the dungeon and the weak monsters' prowess, coupled with relaxation upon returning to the circular restaurant, it seemed like a leisure tour.

The series of circumstances had kept them from properly entering the state they should be in during exploration. This encounter with the giant elephant brought them back to the state an explorer should maintain - constant vigilance and readiness to face danger in a perfect posture.

It reminded them that this dungeon wasn't a tourist destination or a gourmet restaurant.

This was a silver dungeon, a dungeon of over 800 years history, filled with numerous powerful monsters. Do not relax your vigilance excessively, nor let the various delicious foods along the way dull your senses.

In the latter part of the journey, due to Kane and his group's agile actions and constant vigilance, and avoidance of some unnecessary attacks.

After all, the spoils available in this dungeon were merely those meaty corpses. Kane couldn't use his magic stone to absorb energy; he tried but failed. After these creatures died, if there were magic ingredients, it would be considered as prizes exploding out, Kane couldn't absorb the magic power of the magic ingredients.

"Whirr, whirr!"

Finally, they encountered the first slime on this journey.

It was a water-blue slime, through its transparent skin, you could see its gel-like interior.

Though the gel interior could reflect some colors, it was still transparent, even showing some broken branches and leaves engulfed within.

The entire surface of the slime appeared soft and gelatinous, with no features visible, just a simple colorful gel sphere.

It seemed to have detected Kane and his team, from its slow dragging speed on the ground, it suddenly changed, rolling quickly towards Kane and his group.

Seeing the rolling slime, Kane summoned a crossbow arrow beside him, shooting it under control.

The slime had no intention of dodging, the crossbow arrow plunged directly inside it, and eventually compressed further into its body with its rolling, without any visible damage.

This slime seemed immune to physical attacks.
