Cultivation: Fortune by Lots

Chapter 202: 156. Railgun and Magnetosword Pellet (Two updates of 10000 words each)_2

Yuan Mobai had rarely fought anyone in person.

But when he did, he always made a big splash.

The way he operated, however, was as clean and direct as the stories described.

Divine Strike Talisman.

Star-stepping Spell.

The Doumu Star God Dharma conjured with Life Skill Human Script Talismans, also known as Destiny Star God.

One technique, one method, one divine skill.

Yuan Mobai typically combined these three approaches when facing an opponent.

As for the result, *well, it was like letting a violent panda off its leash*.

If the Lin Clan's Elder from the Confucian Chanting Sect could control the distance and rhythm, constantly shifting stance and building layers of defense and obstacles, he might have stood a chance—in defeat, at least, he wouldn't have gone down without a fight.

But Yuan Mobai got right in his face from the get-go, and everyone could see where that was headed,

Master Lin was naive to the point of absurdity.

Elder Yuan was savage and relentless.

*Lei Jun and the other Celestial Master Mansion disciples couldn't help but want to cover their faces, unwilling to watch what came next.*

"My teacher has sent word, he is fine now."

Lei Jun calmly instructed, "Everyone, keep to your stations."

The others seemed to wake from a dream, "Yes!"

After that, Lei Jun stationed himself at Xianliu Palace, temporarily filling in as the guarding elder, directing everyone to repair the defensive spiritual arrays and clean up the mountainside and foothills.

Afterward, there were still Lin Clan cultivators attacking Xianliu Palace.

But no more Great Scholars of the Upper Three Realms came.

After losing three Seventh Heavenly Layer experts in quick succession, if the Lin Clan wanted to make another big move, they'd have to draw reinforcements from their ancestral home in Jiangzhou.

In theory, since Yuan Mobai dared to leave Dragon Tiger Mountain, the Lin Clan folks could too.

But without knowing Yuan Mobai's whereabouts, the Lin Clan's upper echelons seemed unwilling to blindly trade pieces, and held off for the time being.

After all, besides Yuan Mobai, Tang Xiaotang and Li Zhengxuan were also missing in action, and the Jiangzhou Lin Clan had to stay on their toes.

Meanwhile, Lei Jun, sitting in Xianliu Palace, heard a rumor that left him feeling a bit strange.

There were Great Demons sighted over at Qingyu Abyss.

And not just one.

Two Great Demons showed up at Qingyu Abyss, both rivaling human Upper Three Heavens cultivators.

Fortunately, they didn't try to invade the Celestial Master Mansion's Qingyu Cave Heaven.

Instead, those two Great Demons seemed to be deadly enemies, and a brutal battle broke out between them.

*That instantly reminded Lei Jun of the fate of the moderately unlucky lot.*

*Whether he had chosen Xianliu Mountain or Qingyu Abyss, as long as he left the mountain, Yuan Mobai's plan would've been roughly the same.*

*Yet the actual results of those two lots turned out vastly different.*

*It looked like the reason lay with those two Great Demons.*

*If Yuan Mobai and the Lin Clan elder had fought it out in Qingyu Abyss, those two demons might not have tangled with each other at all.*

*Instead, they could have crashed into the battle between Yuan and the Lin Clan.*

*That would have thrown everything into chaos.*

*Even if Yuan Mobai didn't personally take a loss, his whole plan would have unraveled.*

*Once things got chaotic, Lei Jun's safety would've gone out the window.*

*Whether the Great Demons or the Lin Clan elder, either could have posed a threat to him.*

*Maybe it wouldn't have been a guaranteed death-spiral, but it would've been a mess—danger around every corner.*

*The Celestial Master Mansion's Qingyu Cave Heaven could've ended up in the crossfire, too.*

*Right now, though, things were looking good.*

On the Xianliu Mountain side, everything was moving according to plan, Master Lei had thrills without real risk.

Even over at Qingyu Abyss, the two demons were fighting each other; Qingyu Cave Heaven was getting jostled, but the Celestial Master Mansion folks weren't really getting hurt.

*Now he just had to see exactly what rewards the best lot at Xianliu Mountain was going to bring... Lei Jun exhaled a long breath.*

Then, in a blur, he vanished into the wilds.

In the distance, streams of fiery projectiles came arcing toward Xianliu Palace again.

The palace's defensive arrays had been patched up, but they couldn't just keep taking hits forever.

So, a few Celestial Master Mansion disciples charged out with Lei Jun, counterattacking the enemy forces.

Xianliu Palace had originally been guarded by a Fifth Heaven Layer elder, but after getting hurt, he had to return to the Ancestral Courtyard for recovery.

For now, Lei Jun was the acting replacement.

Those under his command, besides a group of transmission disciples, included three talisman-bestowed Taoists.

One was at the Fourfold Heavenly Origin Talisman Realm, and the other two were at the Three-layered Heaven Dharma Platform Realm.

Of the two at the Third Heavenly Layer, one was called Yun Zhan, who shared a bit of spiritual fellowship with Lei Jun.

Earlier, they had gone through the transcension ritual together.

Afterward, though, Lei Jun's cultivation just kept soaring—not only did he reach Fourfold Heavenly Origin Talisman, he even pushed ahead to Fifth Layer Heaven Tao Palace Realm.

Yun Zhan, meanwhile, stayed for now at Third Heaven Realm, preparing for the Heavenly Moat Tribulation between the Third and Fourth layers.

On the day Lei Jun arrived at Xianliu Palace, when the Lin Clan disciples were attacking the mountain, the Celestial Master Mansion disciples there had been a bit scattered in their response.

The reason was that the interim guardian, a talisman-bestowed disciple at the Fourth Heaven Layer, had led a counterattack down the mountain and gotten bogged down.

Staying up top, Yun Zhan and another Third Heaven talisman-bestowed Taoist had disagreed whether to stay on defense or go all out to reinforce the force below.

Of course, now that Lei Jun was here, that kind of situation wouldn't happen again—everyone followed his orders, no questions asked.

Lei Jun was young, but no one felt jealous or defiant.

In fact, Yun Zhan and the others almost felt relieved to have him on the scene.

Part of it was because Lei Jun's cultivation and strength were top tier.

But part of it was that on the very first day, they'd noticed how insanely fast he was at moving; when he closed in on those Lin Clan disciples, his approach was nearly invisible to the enemy.

Honestly, it was a little embarrassing, since right now, apart from Lei Jun, there were no other Celestial Master Mansion disciples at Xianliu Palace who had Wind Riding Talismans as their life-bound talisman.

So when fighting in groups, things got awkward for everyone.

The ones best at leading the charge were those with life-bound talismans for Golden Barrier or Divine Strike.

At mid-range, those with Thunderclap or Blazing Flame talismans could open fire.

Their teamwork was pretty well layered, all things considered.

It was just frustrating that the Lin Clan disciples from the Confucian Chanting and Divine Archer lines could attack from much farther away.
