What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 769: New Generation VS Old Generation

Ries helped me out by pointing at my Codex, "Boss! Hack it and it should allow you to activate its boarding function!"

I did as she asked and connected my Codex to the Exo-Knight, attempting to hack into it.

I was worried that it might not work but my worries were unfounded as the same minigame popped up and I quickly completed it before I had full access to the Ex-Knight in front of me.

I then tapped on the controls to lower a boarding ladder and the cockpit opened up before dropping a rope with a stirrup attached to the bottom.

That should be where my foot goes I guess?

Ries hugged me as I held onto her and put my foot into the stirrup, manipulating my Codex to activate the rope that pulled the both of us up towards the cockpit.

I was worried that the cockpit might be too small to fit both of us but surprisingly, it was relatively spacious inside. Heck, there were even additional seats behind the pilot that allowed passengers to strap themselves in.

I'm guessing they expected that this might be used to transport some people along as well instead of just the pilot so they expanded the cockpit size to accommodate that.

I went ahead to strap myself into the pilot seat while Ries skipped over to one of the passenger seats behind and strapped in like she was on an amusement park ride.

Looking at the controls, it seems like they were using the standard Exo-Knight controls and I had to thank our instructor for making us go through those lessons where we had to figure out the controls on the fly.

If it wasn't for that, I would probably just be staring at these controls wondering what they did and be completely lost on what to do.

Well… I could get Renata to change the controls for me I guess… But since we're already kind of borrowing this Exo-Knight for the moment, let's not change it too much or else the company the Exo-Knight belongs to might figure some things out about us… Like me being a Psionic.

The only bad thing with these controls is that I probably won't be able to make the Exo-Knight kick as reliably as I would like.

I flipped the switches that would activate the Exo-Knight's start up sequence and I couldn't help but grin when I heard the machine hum to life.

The cockpit closed up and the walls in front of me turned transparent and I was able to see outside of the Exo-Knight.

Several screens also popped up and showed the status of the Exo-Knight and I realised there was one big problem straight away.

While I already saw that the Exo-Knight had all those weapons attached to it… None of them were armed with any ammunition to actually be used.

I guess it would make sense if you think about it… Why would they bring in an Exo-Knight which was fully armed? There won't be any live fire testing anyway so it was an unnecessary risk to do so.

That would also explain why those AI controlled Exo-Knights did not use any of the weapons that they were clearly equipped with.

I did another check of the Exo-Knight and while it does have a melee weapon that was attached to its side, the weapon was also fake so I would assume all the Exo-Knights here were similarly unarmed.

Guess they would just have to contend with these fists then!

"Ries… I don't suppose you know the physical capabilities of the Exo-Knights we're facing?"

She peeked from behind and I could see her from the screen at the corner of my vision that was meant to show the interior behind me.

She tapped the side of her cheek thoughtfully, "Umm… They aren't specialised in melee combat so I would think they are at a disadvantage against you, Boss!"

Perfect then.

I turned back to grin at her, "Shall we see what this machine can do?"

"Ehehehe~ I love you, Boss!!"

I manipulated the controls and made the Exo-Knight stow the arm mounted cannon and the rifle away, freeing its fists.

I then pulled its arm back before punching forward, the fist meeting the box and letting out a deafening crash against it.

Surprisingly, the box managed to hold on but I could see that punch had dented its surface and also cracked it.

I pulled back my fist again and threw another punch forward, slamming the full weight of the Exo-Knight's fist against it.

That seemed to be enough as the whole wall broke off and slammed down on the ground.

The AI controlled Exo-Knight that was the closest to me tried to take a swing at me and I moved back to dodge it.

That was when I realised something really clear from controlling this new generation Exo-Knight…

The controls and movements were much smoother and the machine responded as quickly as the one that uses my telepathy waves to control.

It's so smooth that it actually feels a little uncanny.

Still, I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth and went ahead to throw a punch directly at the Exo-Knight in front of me.

My fist landed across its head and the force of the punch sent it stumbling back.

I delivered a few more punches that bypassed whatever defense it had and pummelled the Exo-Knight directly.

It tried to attempt a haymaker but I saw it coming and grabbed its fist before giving it a stomp with my foot, causing it to shut down from all the damage it received.

The Exo-Knight I was piloting suddenly lurched forward and I realised I had been hit from behind.

I spun around and lowered the Exo-Knight into a crouch, just in time to avoid another punch that the enemy had thrown at me to deliver what was an equivalent to a gut punch to the Exo-Knight that attacked me.

If this was a normal human, they would be stumbling back and hugging their abdomen in pain, but obviously these machines did not need to do that.

It merely tried to straighten itself again before continuing to attack, which was actually a bad thing for them because they had to complete their recovery first before they attacked again.

That means that while this guy was straightening itself, I had already moved past its guard to avoid its punch and delivered an uppercut to their torso.

There was a pretty loud crash from the impact of my fist and the Exo-Knight was lifted up into the air for a moment before it slammed back down hard enough to shake the building.

I tried to give the downed Exo-Knight a kick but, as expected, these controls make it hard to control the legs as precisely as I wanted to and I ended up missing my kick.

I ignored the one that was on the floor for a moment since another enemy had taken its place, this one looking quite big in size like it was built to tank battleship cannons.

It reached up both its hands to try and wrestle me and I slapped them away to grab its wrists instead.

I then tried to pull the Exo-Knight off its feet and I was surprised to see that my machine managed to lift the entire enemy Exo-Knight up before slamming it on top of the other Exo-Knight that was still trying to get up.

Both of them spasmed for a moment before they shut down, allowing me to turn my attention to the last two machines.

Unfortunately, it seems like both of them were quite close to each other which meant that I would need to fight both of them at the same time.

I took a moment to peek at the screen that was showing Ries and… Well… I wished I hadn't.

That cat girl of mine actually had her hand in between her legs and was making back and forth motions while she was looking at me, not even trying to hide what she was doing at all.

I turned my attention back towards the two Exo-Knights in front of me and decided to charge towards one first.

It reacted by raising its arm but I suddenly switched targets and went for the other one instead, making full use of the fact that my Exo-Knight could move and react faster.

My actual target could not react in time and I punched it in the chest.

It seems like this one was more fragile because I managed to punch through the chest armour to leave a hole, revealing a very obviously empty cockpit when I pulled my fist back.

I let that Exo-Knight fall on its back before grabbing the other Exo-Knight's head and ripping it off its shoulders.

That wasn't enough to kill it as that only took out its external sensors and it started wailing around to try and get me so I punched that one in the chest as well, creating another hole in its body before it crashed down on the ground.

Hmm… I have to say, this new Exo-Knight isn't half bad.
