GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2458: New Solution.

There are so many parts of someone's life in their memory that changing everything in their memory completely will fracture their minds.

The best way to keep the mind from collapsing is to be selective about what they change. But this means that they will miss some memories and those missed memories can contain important information that should have been erased.

This is why, most of the time, it is only with luck that they are able to overcome the second obstacle. They called this requirement of luck as the third solution needed to overcome the obstacles.

Even the demigod telepath that they had as a slave couldn't offer any useful help. After all, she too had largely fulfilled the advancement requirement and became a demigod telepath due to luck.

This meant that they could only hope that they would be so lucky that something that they missed was not crucial to the fabricated identity of the target. But all of these problems became a nonissue after Legion acquired the Invisibility Shield divine ability.

Once they acquired this divine ability, any oddity in the memories of the targets was ignored by the targets. They just went on believing that everything was normal.

So the Invisibility Shield divine ability became their new third solution. It was a solution that was more reliable than luck.

The Invisibility Shield divine ability helped them fulfill the advancement requirement of the pathway of telepathy quickly. The process also helped them learn more about the capabilities of the Invisibility Shield divine ability.

After a series of experiments, they postulated that the Invisibility Shield divine ability was so powerful that it would make people ignore anything that would make them sense Legion's existence.

So even if they kill someone's wife right in front of them, that person will still ignore them because the Invisibility Shield divine ability is hiding even the cognition of their existence.

They concluded their experiments at the same time as they felt their divine flesh resonate to indicate that they had met the advancement requirement. Then they killed the demigod telepath.

They killed her because they didn't need a telepath slave and because they needed a rank 8 divine flesh of the pathway of telepathy.

Her death provided them with the divine flesh that they needed. Once they assimilated it, they advanced to rank 8 of the pathway of telepathy. So all four of their pathways had successfully advanced to the demigod rank.

This advancement was more dramatic than the previous one because it affected a lot of people. The people that were affected were all the people that they had brainwashed in order to fulfill the advancement requirement.

The minds of all of these people collapsed into fragments, and all of these fragments passed through the Mindscape to reach them. So regardless of where these people were, the fragments of their minds reached Legion.

Once these mind fragments reached Legion, they combined with the new rank 8 divine flesh within them and transformed into a special substance that is capable of reproducing on its own.

This special substance is what is called a mind plague. It is a disease of the mind whose main purpose is to help telepaths overcome the two obstacles that they faced when trying to complete the advancement requirement.

The process of fulfilling the advancement requirement is a ritual in which a telepath spreads their influence secretly and quietly. To complete this ritual, the influence of the telepath must spread far and wide without people noticing.

This is exactly the power of the mind plague. It is a silent weapon that can spread widely from one person to another and can modify the memories of others or even wipe out those memories without anyone knowing.

This is why the Mind Plague is said to continue the ritual of the advancement requirement and help telepaths easily overcome the two most difficult obstacles that they faced during the ritual.

The next goal after this is to become angels. They intend to achieve that by fighting the angel of slavery in the Hydra Kingdom.

They will be able to target the angel of slavery better now that they have a silent killer. But before they go after the angel of slavery, they plan to make another attempt at subduing the Mind Palace.

They made this decision because they got critical information about the Mind Palace from the demigod telepath's mind before they killed her. The critical information was about a war between demigod telepaths for the Mind Palace.

Back when they first reached the epic rank and first got the virtual flesh, they had been worried that it had been tampered with by a powerful telepath. They were still worried about this even when they reached the legendary realm.

In particular, they were worried that the virtual flesh had a Mind Plague in it, which was why they only tried to subdue a fresh virtual flesh that they got themselves from the Mind Palace.

Apparently, their fears were not unwarranted. They learned from the demigod telepath that demigod telepaths were secretly attacking the Mind Palace with the Mind Plague divine in order to erode it and take control of it.

The divine abilities of other pathways can't interact with the Mind Palace at all, while the divine abilities of the pathway of telepathy can't target and attack the Mind Palace.

But the Mind Plague is different because it doesn't need a target for it to work. All the Mind Plague needs to spread and take effect is a mental connection.

Once the Mind Plague has a mental connection, it will be able to take hold and infect the target. And since every telepath has a mental connection with the Mind Palace through the virtual flesh, it means that telepaths can attack the Mind Palace with the Mind Plague divine ability.

In fact, the mental connection between telepaths and the Mind Palace through the virtual flesh is very strong with no way to break. So in theory, it is possible for the Mind Palace to be eroded this way.
