Everything happened so fast that before Kent knew it, he was standing before three dangerous-looking void beasts.
Before even looking at their appearance, Kent's focus shifted to something else, something that made him feel like he had finally stepped into a deep one...
The three void beasts before him are immortals, just like how he expected.
However, their strength is just beyond what he expected. One of them is a True Immortal with seven immortal Qi, the second is an Immortal King with 8 immortal Qi, and the last is an Immortal Monarch with 9 immortal Qi.
Basically, there is no telling just what kind of monsters he was about to face. In fact, the Immortal Monarch has a terrifying appearance.
He is a hooded humanoid with six appendage-like wings on his back. In his grip are two curved swords, each about 3 meters long, and a halo-like diagram hovers behind him, designed with intricate void runes.
As for the Immortal King, he is also a humanoid; however, unlike the Immortal Monarch, he has no appendages on his back. Instead, a batlike wing folded behind, exuding a shadowy mist. There is also a razor-sharp spear in his firm grip.
And for the True Immortal, he has green eyes and a humanoid appearance, but with loads of face tattoos. They each glow with a deep blue hue, and the more he looks at Kent, the more they glow.
He held a bow and a quiver behind him.
Kent could tell they were far stronger than their cultivation bases simply from the aura surrounding them. However, he also didn't focus on that since he had to get ready for battle.
"Took you long enough, Chaos Dragon." Just when Kent was getting ready for battle, the Immortal Monarch spoke, making him shift his attention to him.
Being called Chaos Dragon means he knew him personally, something he found shocking, so he chose to focus on that first.
"So you know who I am?"
"I do. In fact, I know more about you than you yourself do."
"This means you are from the Primordial Era, huh?" Kent asked despite already knowing the answer. He most certainly never expected the last floor temple masters, who appear to be from the Primordial Era.
However, that changes nothing. He still has to battle them, so he wasn't about to become friendly with them.
"So what, did you three have some long beef with me that the passage of time couldn't take away? I mean, waiting all this while just to battle me when I am still weak is not something healthy, guys."
Kent smirked and then tightened his grip on his sword.
The three void beasts smiled, and one of them—the Immortal King—stepped forward and pointed his spear at Kent.
"Last 5 minutes with me or defeat me in close combat, and we will tell you who we are and what we are doing here."
"Unconventional, but why not?" Kent moved and appeared before the Immortal King, landing a vertical slash. However, the Immortal King sidestepped and stabbed with his spear, aiming to pierce Kent's shoulder. The movement was quick, showing the speed at which he could move.
Thankfully, Kent knew better than to underestimate an Immortal King. So he activate all 120,000 flame veins. That enabled him to track and dodge the spear stab.
His speed matched the Immortal King.
However, even though he managed to dodge, when the Immortal King struck forward with his palm, Kent found himself in a bind.
It was either that he used his sword to block the palm strike, which in turn would leave him open for the Immortal King to attack with his spear, or he used his left hand to brace, which would leave his left side exposed.
The only way out for him is to use a movement technique to evade. In the end, Kent chose an unconventional method. He summoned his dragon scale and coated his chest with it. Then, using his body, he took on the palm strike.
A powerful force moved through his body.
However, instead of taking in the pain, he channelled it into an attack.
The moment the Immortal King landed the palm strike on his chest, he was also left exposed to an attack from Kent.
The play that Kent came up with was very simple. He would tank the palm strike with his chest, and then take advantage of the opening that would appear in the immortal Kings defense.
Of course, the whole plan lay on the event that he can take on the attack without being pushed back.
So he first coated his body with dragon scales, then channelled 30,000 blood runes, using their power to strengthen himself.
But even so, he felt pain move deep into his ribs. However, with the advantage he got, he attacked, aiming his sword at the immortal King's shoulder.
He moved back and tried to evade. However, the moment he did that, Kent smiled and moved forward, passing by the True Immortal like a ghost. His hand also moved with him, and before the immortal could make a move, Kent gripped his shoulder.
He channelled all his energy into his hand and then, like beating a drum, he slammed the Immortal King to the ground.
"You lost, Kailan," the Immortal Monarch said, smiling under his hood.
Kailan, who decided to remain on the ground despite Kent standing over him, also smiled and shook his head. Then, in a manner Kent never expected, he gave him his hand to pull him up.
Kent, from the moment they started the battle, knew these three void beasts were not planning on killing him. In fact, it seems they merely wanted to test him, so when he defeated Kailan, instead of killing him, which he could have easily done, he chose not to.
Now, it seems his assumption is true. The three void beasts are not his enemies. But if they are not, then what the hell are they doing in the temple that he is challenging?
After helping him stand up, Kent turned and looked at the Immortal Monarch...
"Are you going to tell me who you three are now?"
"Looks like you still have your touch, master."
"Master...?" Kent furrowed his brow, unsure of how to handle what he had just heard. An Immortal Monarch who is a Void Beast, just called him master.
There is no way in hell he is a master of void beasts.
"Looks like you are still recovering your memories. But that is also okay... My name is Axiom, a Void Architect. The one with the bow is Kol; he is a Void Archer, while the one you defeated is Kailan.
We three are a part of a group of 69 void beasts that once followed the Primordial Chaos Dragon into battle. We were once known as the Void Legion."
Kent remained standing, unsure of what to even think...
Axiom, Kailan, and Kol stood side by side, a smile playing on their lips as they watched Kent go through several emotions. His mind is going through so much that if he were to stop, he might just lose his mind.
So for ten good minutes, he remained rooted in the same spot, thinking, digesting, and doing his best to make sense of what he had just heard.
In the end, all he could say was:
"What the fuck..."
