Getting a Technology System in Modern Day

Chapter 996: The Horn

{Veins of the Soul? Is he trying to counter mana poisoning by changing aspects of his soul?}

Ayaka didn't have any energy to answer Nova, as her eyes were now fully focused on the Soul Veins near the Emperor, her face still covered in horror. This was a result of her finally accessing the full knowledge of what was in front of her and knowing what the possible outcome would be if things went wrong, and based on the complexity of the knowledge, she knew that was the most likely outcome, and it was nothing good for anyone, including her.

"CHGHD," she found herself losing control of her body as her fear was momentarily interrupted when Nova used the mana she was providing through the suit to shock her and send her body haywire so that by the time it reset, she could have at least recollected herself. For anyone else, it would have been dangerous, but for Ayaka, this was no different than a needle prick.

{Veins of the Soul? Is he trying to counter mana poisoning by changing aspects of his soul?} Nova asked again.

"No," she said, shaking her head, as that was more difficult than stopping time. "He is trying to tear a small part of his soul and transfer it to the new body so that the mana poisoning can be affiliated with the new part."

The entire time she answered, she kept her eyes on the Soul Veins, witnessing something that should be impossible for any human to do, yet the reality in front of her proved otherwise.

………………………..

While Ayaka was experiencing the fear of her life, Aron, who had been taken out of the driver's seat by the system, which had taken over the moment he clicked [YES], watched in silence what his body was doing, wanting to absorb as much as possible as he wondered what the reason might be that the system had shown him the prompt about having to follow everything in the plan.

As he was watching, a system screen finally appeared in front of him. He immediately focused on the System Points that he had accumulated during the rollout of the VR and wormhole technologies to the Conclave, and although he knew it would be costly, SP was going down the drain in the millions for every second that passed.

But that feeling of losing money went out the window the moment his eyes fell on what was written at the center of the screen: [Starting the soul-tearing process]. Before he could even prepare himself, he felt a tear coming from the very depths of his body, which was painful to the point that he just froze, as his body didn't have the capability of expressing the pain.

During this time, the system tore less than 0.1 percent of his soul, which was then ejected from his body into the doppelgänger's body with as much pinpoint accuracy as possible.

While that was happening, the Soul Vein nearest to them that corresponded to Aron's soul pulsed for a moment. The system immediately responded to it by sending the purest mana it could gather from Aron's body to try and calm it down, but before it could take its time to stabilize, the pulsing continued increasing in intensity, causing the mana coming from the body to waver. Despite the system not feeling the pain and only controlling the body, it was still being affected, and in one of those moments, the pure mana seemed to momentarily fall lower than the minimum needed to stabilize the vein. This forced the system to accelerate its operation, as it instantly shoved the cut part of the soul toward the doppelgänger's body before allowing it to gain its consciousness.

As it tried to control the joining of the new soul piece to the one already in the body, CRACK, a sound of something breaking was heard. The system immediately isolated it to the Soul Vein of Aron, which showed intentions of fully breaking. If that happened, it would mean Aron's death, so, throwing caution to the wind, it forcefully co-joined the part of the soul to the new one without caring how it was joined, before immediately closing its access to the Soul Veins.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A melodic horn was heard across the solar system, heard by everyone, even those in space and in VR, so long as they were in an area where the Aurora had appeared, causing them to feel euphoric amidst many incomprehensible feelings once again. Without any explanation, everyone who heard it understood that it was a celebration of something nearly impossible being achieved.

At least, that was what everyone but Ayaka felt. Unlike all of them, she had actually seen what happened to the Emperor, so she shouted immediately, "PROTECT THE EMPEROR!"

That was all Nova needed to hear. She instantly broke through the grass, jumping towards the Emperor, but amidst her jump, the doppelgänger that was gaining color as its body became humanified opened its eyes a moment after the horn, as if it had been forcefully woken up. It released a shockwave that pushed her and everything in its surroundings away, barring the Emperor.

But Nova was fast enough to react. She activated a tractor beam on the ground, and using it as a rope, paired with her momentum, she created a semicircle. She brought her legs together, readjusting her nanomachines into a needle to have better penetrative force as she headed toward the doppelgänger.

GUMMMM was heard as she was met with a shield that felt like a wall. Her point-shaped nanomachines were broken apart due to the momentum of her attack, but it didn't seem like the shield was enough to stop her. She immediately activated the hexagonal shield that had been in its passive mode, turning it fully active within the zone of the doppelgänger to try and hold it down so that it didn't harm the Emperor. At the same time, she used the gradual shift from passive to active to try and push the Emperor away from the doppelgänger by solidifying one part and pushing him. She knew that she didn't have much time to carry the Emperor since the mana reactors were now pumping energy that would have previously sustained the shield to cover the entire planet into a single hexagon. But the doppelgänger wasn't fully stopped; although by an inch, it was still able to move, with all of this happening in less than half a second.
