This wasn't the first time Michael had been teleported by someone.
His first experience had been with Teacher Brian, the second with Princess Priscilla in the Land of Origin, and now this was the third.
However, compared to the first two, Instructor Yola was clearly far more powerful.
At least, Michael had never imagined that a five-hour journey by car could be covered in less than five flashes of light—and that was even when Instructor Yola didn't seem to know his exact destination.
Michael exhaled shakily. It was surreal.
But he didn't have the time to be amazed.
Every second that passed tightened the unease in his chest. Something had happened, and he could only hope that he wasn't already too late.
High above the clouds, the world stretched endlessly. Wind rushed past, cool and thin, carrying the faint scent of rain.
Instructor Yola and Michael cut through the air in silence, their figures little more than blurs of dot to anyone far below.
From this height, Brightgate City unfolded beneath them like a living map
"Which area?" The instructor asked without looking at him.
Michael's eyes scanned the distant landscape when he caught sight of a familiar residential block.
"There. That's my house."
Yola followed his gaze, then nodded. "Hold on."
The clouds twisted, the world bending around them as space folded once more. A flash of light swallowed their figures, and the next instant, they stood before the gate of Michael's family residence.
Michael didn't hesitate. He released Yola's hand and sent a wave of his perception forward, the air around him rippling faintly as his mana spread into the building. Every trace of aura within the house came alive in his mind's eye.
When he sensed the familiar signature of his cousin, calm and unarmed, a small breath of relief escaped his lips.
But the unease in his chest didn't fade. His eyes shifted toward the porch.
The ground before the door was uneven, cracks running through the tiles.
Something had happened here recently.
The fact that Jester wasn't in the house proved this.
Now, another issue appeared.
Where was Jester?
For this, Michael didn't think too much and simply focused on the feeling deep within him.
Within a certain range, he could sense the presence of his Genesis Body.
However, the farther the distance, the weaker it became until it faded completely.
Whether this limitation came from the nature of his Genesis Body or his current level of strength, he couldn't tell.
But for now, the range was enough.
Michael found the location and turned toward his instructor, hesitation flickering in his eyes.
He could head there himself, but it wasn't like he could just leave without attending to her.
Unlike his earlier panic, the situation didn't seem as dire anymore. His family appeared to be safe—or at least, mostly so. The familiar life signature of Lily within the house told him that much. He hadn't checked on Aunt Mia yet, but knowing she was likely still at her restaurant in the busy city center, she should be fine. Though the urge to confirm it personally gnawed at him.
But now, the whole situation feels awkward.
Instructor Yola had gone out of her way to bring him here in person, and now that it seemed his family was unharmed, Michael couldn't help but feel as though he had tricked her into coming.
Yola, however, remained calm.
To say she was worried about Michael's family would have been a stretch—but she was concerned about Michael himself.
The new student had been the talk of the academy for weeks. At first, his name had floated around the "public exam incident" rumours.
But when the verified data of the time it took for him to reach his current level, the whispers turned into admiration.
A student who reached such a stage in less than a year? That wasn't normal.
No wonder there was such an abnormal lock on his information.
Someone like this wasn't ordinary.
For Yola, helping him now wasn't a waste of effort. Even if nothing came of it, establishing goodwill with a rising powerhouse at no cost was far from a bad investment.
When she noticed the hesitation in Michael's face, a small, knowing smile curved her lips. She had already scanned the house and its surroundings with her own perception earlier. There was no immediate threat. But the cracked porch tiles said enough. Something had definitely happened here.
Michael stood quietly before the door, his gaze lingering on the faint cracks spreading across the porch tiles.
He took a breath and reached out, pressing the doorbell.
For a few seconds, nothing happened. Then, the sound of light footsteps echoed from within, followed by the creak of the latch.
The door opened just slightly, revealing Lily's cautious face peeking out. Her brows were furrowed, her grip tight on the frame.
"Who—" she began, but the rest of her words died as soon as she saw who it was.
"Brother Michael?" Her eyes widened, surprise flashing into relief.
Just because she lacked life experience didn't mean she was naive. The cracks on the porch, and Jester's sudden disappearance earlier — all of it had made her uneasy.
But seeing Michael standing there now, calm and real before her eyes, made that heavy worry fade, if only a little. She exhaled softly, tension slipping from her shoulders.
"You're back," she said.
Michael smiled faintly. "Yeah. Are you alright?"
Lily nodded quickly, stepping aside to let him in. "I'm fine. Just… confused. Jester left a while ago and he's not back yet."
Michael's expression tightened, though he kept his voice even. "Did anyone else come here?"
She shook her head. "No one. At least, not inside. But…" Her eyes flicked toward the porch again. "There was a loud noise earlier—like a thud. When I came out, those cracks were already there. Jester said it was nothing and told me to stay inside, and there were two men with him at that time too."
