Explosions tore through the highest sky above the Second Realm of the Crimson World.
"BOOOOOM!"
"BOOM!"
"BOOOOOOOOOOM!"
"BOOOOOOM!"
Each detonation eclipsed the last, waves of destructive force crashing into one another as the Neo-Demon and the Neo-Angel clashed without restraint. Space itself buckled under the pressure, collapsing into violent vacuums where nothing below the ArchDeity Realm could survive. Reality screamed beneath their battle.
Urin moved first.
Her hand flashed forward, faster than light, aiming straight for Cain's face. Cain reacted instantly, his sword intercepting her wrist and forcing it aside. Yet even deflected, the Neo-Angel's power detonated. A compact, terrifying explosion ignited in the air beside Cain's head.
Flames swallowed his face.
Flesh and muscle burned away in an instant, the heat reaching the bone itself. The pain was indescribable—enough to shatter the concentration of almost any being in existence.
Yet, despite the agony, Cain did not so much as flinch. His eyes remained calm, as he did not lose concentration even for a heartbeat.
Sky Devourer came down in a vertical arc, destruction condensed so densely along its edge that space-time unraveled in its wake. The blade screamed as it fell, annihilating the laws that attempted to resist it.
Urin reacted at the perfect moment.
Her free hand detonated with a sharp burst of explosive force, propelling her body backward. She escaped the brunt of the strike, but not all of it. The very tip of Sky Devourer grazed her side.
That was enough.
The blade cut cleanly through her reinforced flesh, and a heartbeat later the wound expanded violently. Reaper Touch activated, Absolute Destruction flooding into the injury, tearing it wider and deeper. Scarlet flames latched onto the wound, feeding on her vitality, spreading like a living curse.
Urin clenched her teeth.
A single touch had done this much damage. When it came to destructive power, there were few in the Crimson World that could match the Neo-Demon.
Before the destruction could spread further, a red crystal embedded in her chest ignited. Light surged through her body, colliding directly with Cain's destructive energy. The opposing forces neutralized one another, and the damage began to seal, flesh and bone knitting back together.
Cain's eyes narrowed.
He was not surprised.
From the very beginning, it had been obvious that Urin had been reforged specifically to face him. His innate abilities. The essence of the Neo-Demon's True Doomsday Body. Even the power of the Flow itself. Every advantage he possessed had been anticipated.
The one capable of such preparation could only be the Ancient One.
An entity billions of years old. A being capable of forging Supreme Races. Enhancing a Neo-Angel to this extent was well within its reach.
Why it had gone to such lengths was another matter entirely.
"I will find the answer once this battle is over."
Cain did not hesitate.
His killing intent sharpened, crystallizing into absolute focus. Crimson Wings flared as he launched himself forward, abandoning defense entirely. Sky Devourer became a storm of annihilation, each swing releasing arcs of destruction that shredded the sky itself.
Urin was forced on the defensive.
Massive wounds opened across her body as she struggled to keep up with the relentless assault. Even so, Cain paid the price for his aggression. With his defenses lowered, Urin's explosions found their mark again and again.
Chunks of his chest were blown apart.
His arms shattered.
His legs ruptured.
Even his face was torn open once more.
Both of them were being destroyed—again and again—only to regenerate moments later and return to the assault with even greater ferocity.
The battlefield beneath them descended into chaos.
Freedom Path ArchDeities surged upward, driven mad by bloodlust, throwing themselves toward Cain in suicidal waves. The Life Path responded instantly, forming an impregnable barrier of power to isolate the duel.
Meylin stood at the center of it all, her Depraivta Aura blazing as she faced multiple Late ArchDeities at once. The Enlightened One fought beside her, radiance clashing against ruin.
The True Depravita of Fear took the greatest pressure of all, as the number of ArchDeities he faced reached the two digits, but he remained firm.
Still, the Freedom Path's numbers were overwhelming.
Every second demanded absolute focus from the Life Path warriors.
Above it all, Cain and Urin continued their brutal exchange.
The red crystal's glow dimmed.
Cain's Depraivta Aura thinned.
Regeneration slowed.
After less than ten minutes, they reached their limit.
"BOOOOOOM!"
A massive explosion hurled Cain across the sky. The muscles of his chest were obliterated, leaving a gaping wound that no longer closed. His Depraivta Aura had finally run dry.
Urin was no better.
Her breathing was ragged. Cuts marred her body, wounds that refused to heal. The red crystal in her chest cracked and dulled, its energy exhausted.
Yet she smiled.
Despite everything, confidence lingered in the Neo-Angel's eyes.
The battle had reached the point that even if Cain defeated her, he could not destroy her True Name. She could retreat. Recover. Return faster than the Life Path ever could. In her mind, victory was already secured.
Cain read the thoughts flickering through her consciousness.
Slowly, he relaxed his body.
Below them, the war raged. Freedom Path warriors stared upward with ravenous intent, while the Life Path strained to hold the line.
It was a truly strenuous battle, but it could not affect someone who had fought a battle that decided the fate of an entire universe.
He met Urin's gaze.
"I will admit it," Cain said calmly. "The Ancient One did an excellent job enhancing you. It countered my Neo-Demon Path, my innate abilities, even the Flow itself."
Urin should have felt pride.
Instead, her instincts screamed.
"What is happening?"
The answer manifested instantly.
Cain's Crimson Wings twisted, reshaping themselves into vast Chaos Wings. Scarlet plasma fused with the sky itself as a presence beyond laws, concepts, and truths descended.
The Power of Chaos.
A slow smile spread across Cain's face.
"However," he continued softly, "I doubt it prepared you for this."
The sky fell silent.
