Skull Lord stared at Cain for several seconds, his gaze steady and contemplative as he weighed the young man's words. Finally, the True Depravita nodded.
"I understand your situation," Skull Lord said calmly. "If you are indeed able to restrain yourself in the event that the truth displeases you, and if you are willing to wait until the war is concluded, then I will not interfere with your path. However, for now, I can only permit you to speak with them and demand answers. I will not allow you to harm the Three Moons."
Cain listened without interruption, his expression composed.
"They refuse to take part in the war directly," Skull Lord continued, "but their information has been critical to many of our strategies. Thanks to their guidance, we have managed to retain control over more than sixty percent of the continents in the Fourth Realm. Losing them now would weaken the Life Path at a pivotal moment."
Cain nodded immediately. He understood the importance of the greater picture. No matter his personal grievances, this war was larger than any single vendetta.
Skull Lord studied Cain closely and, seeing no sign of impatience or hidden fury, allowed himself a faint nod of approval.
"The Freedom Path will not make a move anytime soon," he said. "This is an ideal opportunity. If you wish, we can go and meet the Three Moons now."
"Perfect," Cain replied with a small smile. "There is no reason to delay."
Skull Lord nodded and turned, guiding the trio across the Fourth Realm.
Now that the immediate danger had passed, Cain, Meylin, and the Enlightened One were finally able to truly observe their surroundings. Even scarred by war, the Fourth Realm possessed a breathtaking beauty unlike any other. Vast lands stretched beneath skies washed in pale luminance, cosmic phenomena drifting like slow-moving constellations across the horizon. The density and purity of the energies here far surpassed those of the lower realms, and every breath carried power.
As they traveled, the trio quietly refined their states, drawing in energy and purging the lingering exhaustion left behind by their journey through the Realm Barrier and the recent battle. Cain could feel his Astral Black Hole stabilizing further, his control over Chaos growing subtler, more precise. Meylin's aura became colder and sharper, while the Enlightened One radiated calm profundity, his Dream pulsing with steady resonance.
After four days of uninterrupted travel, they finally reached a massive continent. Unlike all the others they had passed, this land bore no signs of devastation. Its mountains stood unbroken, its skies untouched by battle, and its cities gleamed with quiet grandeur.
Cain, Meylin, and the Enlightened One exchanged glances before looking to Skull Lord.
The True Depravita offered a faint, wry smile. "Even I find this place perplexing. Whenever a battle is about to spill into this continent, something diverts it elsewhere. Some believe the Three Moons subtly interfere with causality itself. Others claim they foresaw this war long ago and constructed their headquarters in the only place destined to remain untouched."
Neither explanation was comforting.
Caution flickered through Meylin's eyes, mirrored by the Enlightened One's tightening focus. Cain, however, remained unmoved. His scarlet gaze burned steadily, unshaken by prophecy or mystery.
At the heart of the continent stood the kingdom of the Three Moons—and it was every bit as imposing as legend suggested.
The fortress was vast, sprawling across the land like a city unto itself. Above it, three massive moons orbited in perfect harmony, bathing the structure in shifting hues of silver, violet, and pale gold. Their light refracted through the air, casting ever-changing patterns across towers and spires that seemed to defy conventional geometry.
Then, without warning, a figure appeared.
She sat upon a ruined throne like a dark queen, her pale face serene and distant. Long, intricately braided hair framed her features, and her eyes seemed hollow yet commanding, as though they gazed beyond the living world. Behind her loomed a towering skeletal guardian, silent and unmoving, green mist and spectral energy coiling around its massive frame.
Cain's eyes sharpened.
With The Flow alone, her presence was difficult to grasp—blurred, elusive, almost absent. But when Chaos stirred within him, reality peeled back, and he saw through the veil.
"Peak ArchDeity," Cain murmured inwardly.
The woman rose smoothly from her throne and inclined her head toward Skull Lord in a formal bow. Then she turned to Cain.
"I am Sabrina," she said, her voice calm and measured. "High Elder of the Three Moons Kingdom. Our Matriarch has been awaiting your arrival, Scarlet King."
She then shifted her gaze to Meylin.
"And you as well, Queen of Original Sin."
Cain and Meylin narrowed their eyes slightly. The words made it clear—their visit had been anticipated, despite the decision having been made only recently. Still, neither allowed their composure to waver. They returned a simple nod.
Sabrina smiled faintly. "Follow me. The rest will remain outside."
With that, she turned and led Cain and Meylin deeper into the heart of the stronghold.
Neither the Enlightened One nor Skull Lord objected. This was a diplomatic encounter, not a battlefield. Even if Cain failed to obtain the answers he sought, he had already sworn not to act against the Three Moons—at least not yet.
They soon reached a massive gate carved with ancient lunar sigils. Sabrina bowed once more and withdrew, leaving Cain and Meylin alone before the sealed entrance.
They exchanged a brief glance.
Then Cain pushed the gates open.
Shadows flooded the chamber beyond, swallowing sound and light alike. As their eyes adjusted, three figures emerged from the darkness—three beautiful women standing as one. As they moved, their forms blurred and merged, becoming a single entity with three faces.
The central face burned with molten amber eyes, alive and alert—the Present. To one side, the Past gazed outward with hollow sorrow, heavy with memory and regret. To the other, the Future stared coldly into nothingness, distant and ominous.
All three wore tattered black shrouds adorned with ancient golden ornaments, relics of forgotten rituals and lunar devotion.
"We have been waiting for you, Scarlet King," the Three Moons spoke in unison, their voices majestic and terrifying in equal measure.
