Surgery Godfather

Chapter 1232: Not Expensive Very Affordable

The development of Sanbo Hospital is Dean Xia's responsibility. Yang Ping's work involves scientific research and clinical practice, which is what he excels at.

Li Zehui was willing to come to Sanbo Hospital largely due to the personal charisma of Yang Ping. This kind of situation is quite common. For example, those rocket experts in the United States gather under Musk not only because he pays well but also due to Musk's personal charm. They are willing to follow him to strive for the cause of immigrating to Mars, regardless of whether it succeeds or not, as it stands as an ambitious ideal.

For those top scientists, a flag is very important. Under its inspiration, they carry out their work with a sense of mission, firmly believing that if not in ten years, in fifty, and if not in fifty, in a hundred years.

To accomplish something, there must be a beginning. Having a beginning doesn't guarantee success, but without one, success is impossible.

Sisi was the first patient to undergo K Therapy and also the first to be cured. Because Sisi could directly enter the clinical trial, it significantly shortened the research time for K Therapy. A follow-up review revealed that all her indicators remained normal, without any fluctuations. Theoretically, she has reached the standard of being cured.

Professor Zhang Zongshun appeared in the institute's doctor's office with his hands behind his back. He came to understand Sisi's condition. When he heard that Sisi had been cured, he found it somewhat incredible and had to personally come up to understand the situation.

Back then, Professor Zhang was the one who admitted Sisi. He had been closely following the treatment of this little girl. At that time, he didn't have much hope for the treatment, admitting her was merely fulfilling his duty, offering this poor little girl some humanistic care, letting her know that the world had not abandoned her, allowing her to feel care and hope in her final days.

Professor Zhang was still wearing those glasses held together by tape. He had become accustomed to them, with the right fit, and after wearing them for decades, he couldn't bear to switch to another frame.

Upon hearing the news, the students tried to avoid him as much as possible, fearing a reprimand. Professor Zhang was very strict. Even if he saw a student not wearing their white gown properly, with a button undone, he would step forward to educate them and then help them button it up.

"Professor Zhang!" Yang Ping quickly ushered Professor Zhang inside.

Professor Zhang waved his hand, "You guys carry on with your work. I'm just here to check on Sisi's condition, I heard she's already cured."

Curing a previously spread malignant tumor, if it weren't for the message from the institute, people would surely think it was fake news.

Yang Ping had Professor Zhang sit down and said, "After the recent treatment session, the shadows of all the original tumor lesions have disappeared on the imaging pictures, and all check indicators have returned to normal. Multiple follow-ups show no signs of recurrence."

"Let me take a look," Professor Zhang took off his glasses and leaned in for a closer look.

The electronic screen for viewing images had already displayed Sisi's imaging pictures. Professor Zhang carefully observed that, indeed, the original lesions were no longer visible, and all tests were normal with no more fluctuations.

The scenes of admitting the little girl into the hospital were still vivid in Professor Zhang's memory. He couldn't help but feel a bit emotional. This young man, Yang Ping, really accomplished it. He pioneered a new method for treating tumors. This entirely new method is indeed the ultimate weapon for future tumor treatment.

Now Professor Zhang has retired as the team leader of the expert group, and Director Han has succeeded him. Professor Zhang now only sees patients in the institute's outpatient clinic, occasionally gathering some old friends for some gaming. He used to join Zhang Lin, Little Five, and Liang Fatty in gaming sessions, but now he seldom plays with them.

Because these young people are now fully committed to work, for example, Zhang Lin and Little Five spend most of their time on learning and research. They also need to make their achievements and not hold back the institute. Facts have proven that these two have secured their positions in the institute with their exceptional hook techniques, even becoming roles difficult to replace.

Replacing them with anyone else is unlikely to surpass their skill in hook techniques. Based on hook techniques alone, claiming they are the best in the world is not an exaggeration. After all, "Hook Surgery" is a groundbreaking work in the field.

"It really is cured!" Professor Zhang could hardly believe his eyes.

Yang Ping is not only skilled in surgical operations, but now his scientific research is also amazing. Developing a brand new treatment method in such a short period of time, Professor Zhang looked up at Yang Ping, feeling a sense of deep emotions.

When this young guy first came in, he just felt that the young man was different, having some confidence and dedication. But later, as he witnessed him creating one miracle after another, Professor Zhang and Director Han discussed it. The two supported him, encouraging him to spread his wings and achieve. Unexpectedly, he achieved such remarkable success.

Dean Xia mentioned that the plane carrying the retired cadre health check group is nearing the airport. Dean Xia and Professor Zhang Zongshun led a group to personally welcome them at the airport. Moreover, a small welcoming ceremony was arranged at the hospital for these retired cadres, who are national contributors, creating a lively atmosphere. However, Dean Xia dared not be too extravagant, as these cadres lead a simple and modest life. Seeing an extravagant scene might draw sharp criticism. So, Dean Xia carefully controlled the degree of the welcoming ceremony—not too little nor overly sumptuous.

Professor Zhang originally wanted to chat more with Yang Ping, to learn about the latest frontier technologies in the medical field, but with the task of receiving the guests in the afternoon, he couldn't stay long.

In the end, recalling Yang Ping's journey is quite emotional. The young man with extraordinary talent grew from a resident physician to a Nobel Prize winner in just two to three years.

Whether it's spatial orientation gene or K therapy, these are imaginative innovations. It seems the young minds work well, not bound by traditions.

After work in the afternoon, Yang Ping, accompanied by Song Zimo, rushed to the Overseas Chinese Building's lobby to welcome the retired cadre health check group. These old heroes all made significant contributions to the country.

Although they are quite advanced in age, each is in high spirits, coming for a health check-up as it's a welfare by the state.

Many of the elderly felt this was unnecessary, saying a simple check-up at a nearby place would suffice, no need for a flight this far. However, upon hearing about Professor Yang Ping here, everyone cheerfully expressed their wish for a comprehensive health check to have Professor Yang take a look.

Yang Ping performed several coronary bypass surgeries at 301 for fellow old comrades, making those surgeries a legend in their hearts. His skillful pair of hands worked wonders; no matter how difficult the surgery, it would be perfectly executed in his hands.

These old comrades had already done some preliminary work for this batch of retired cadres, telling them how incredible Yang Ping was, ridding them of numerous old ailments one by one.

The old cadres were excited to see the welcoming Yang Ping in the lobby, "Finally meeting Professor Yang in person."

This made Yang Ping quite embarrassed. Before these old heroes, he felt insignificant. Without the blood and sweat of these old heroes, he wouldn't be able to dedicate himself to being a doctor and conducting research wholeheartedly—having a decent meal would even be an issue.

Dean Xia said, "Before they came, the old comrades at 301 must have praised you quite a bit, raising their thumbs up. Several had issues that needed surgery, and they specifically came over to invite you to be the chief surgeon."

The grand words were already spoken by others, and now Yang Ping felt immense pressure. Not everything in medicine can be resolved by surgery.

Yang Ping knew in his heart that these old comrades were just saying so. If things couldn't be solved, they would understand. They all are seniors who have experienced many storms, with broad minds, and wouldn't fuss over such trivial matters with him. Hence, Yang Ping felt much at ease.

"Dean Xia, you mustn't put pressure on Professor Yang. Professor Yang, don't worry. We all have old ailments, and no one can cure them as one ages. If they can be treated, they will be; if not, it's not a big deal. In this world, who can live forever; birth, aging, sickness, and death are natural laws. We must base everything on facts and not violate objective laws," said an old cadre kindly to Yang Ping, even criticizing Dean Xia instead.

Dean Xia quickly apologized, "Everyone has come a long way here as a trust in our hospital, and we will surely go all out."

"It's just a health check-up, no need for such a big fuss, and not too much time should be wasted. Professor Yang, don't pay us any mind. We were merely joking. We know you are busy normally. Don't let us disrupt your work. We already feel bad for disturbing you. If too much medical resources are consumed, we will hesitate to come again in the future," said another old cadre who spent a lifetime researching rockets in the West.

Everyone orderly moved into the ward and settled down. Seeing the luxurious wards made them slightly uncomfortable.

An old cadre waved over the accompanying doctor and nurse, "How much does this cost per day?"

The doctors and nurses didn't expect the elder to ask this question, stammering a reply, "It's not expensive, quite cheap."

PS: This book is about to finish with around 100,000 words remaining. Originally, there were over a million words to go, along with the climax of the entire book, but some content was identified as unsuitable for the novel, so it had to be entirely cut out painfully. Recently, after achieving some progress in work, the intensity isn't as high as before, allowing a bit more time for writing at night.

This is the author's first book, with many unsatisfactory elements. Initially, while planning, the author didn't anticipate certain things couldn't be written into the novel, hence a small regret. A new book is in preparation, with hopefully smoother writing due to the experience gained from this book. The author assures to strive hard, ensuring the new book doesn't experience frequent updates like this one. Thank you all for your support.
