Legend of the chosen ones: Beyond Destiny

Chapter 567: A Show of Force and an Auspicious Start (Part 3)

We're all out here to make money, isn't everyone's money made the same way?

The young ladies also want to eat something nice.

Unfortunately, Ji Jue had no appetite.

"My advice is, you stay inside the base and don't wander around, but you probably won't listen, so just be careful." As they parted, Liang Mo waved his hand: "If there's any danger, just run back to the base, I'll cover for you."

"You make it sound like I'm here to rob a bank." Ji Jue chuckled.

"If you really wanted to rob a bank, I'd feel more at ease." Liang Mo shook his head, said no more, and left.

What's left is personal time.

In principle, as a representative, he's not supposed to wander around, but if we're talking about principles, then there probably aren't any.

So, as long as the military has nothing else for him, all his time is free.

The base is indeed safe, but it's also troublesome, doing everything under other people's watchful eyes is too inconvenient, and it doesn't allow Ji Jue to create little surprises.

After finding a place to dock the boat, he planned to look for another garrison.

After confirming the appointment time with the camp commander's secretary, he drove out in a small truck.

At the camp gate, someone was already waiting.

Ji Jue stopped the car, jumped out, and went up to give Yan Fei a hefty smack on the back of his head, then took the cigarette from his mouth and tossed it aside.

Then he kicked him flying.

"I've worked so hard to educate you, and just two days without supervision, you're turning into a hooligan!"

Yan Fei clutched his head and scurried away, while his younger brother on the back seat laughed nonstop.

Having watched enough of the commotion.

As Ji Jue's personal subordinates, they had arrived in Tower City half a month early to prepare related matters. Leading the team was Old Gou, the CEO of Messenger Logistics, who could finally rest after being busy.

There's no choice, the talent under Ji Jue for business is quite lacking, and even fewer are reliable.

And those with real skill are even fewer.

Even though he often pretends to be an uncultured brute, taking half a day to write a report concealing his lack of education, Ji Jue discovered this rascal could speak the language of Central Earth when dealing with people from Red Country!

And the four major languages of Central Earth, he could both speak and write!

When Ji Jue inquired, he was still pretending, but Ji Jue couldn't care less, grabbed him by the collar, and said, "You're assigned to Tower City!"

As for Yan Fei, in a recent scuffle with the security team, he awoke his powers.

Much to Ji Jue's expectations, he awakened the Ashes ability, although not quite what Ji Jue expected; his academic performance was horrendous. Additionally, when he first awakened his power, it was 'Excitation,' which meant anything he touched exploded.

And unfortunately, the fight took place in a bathroom.

So, this little guy accidentally... blew up the bathroom!

A total nightmare.

Imagine seeing a child laughing uncontrollably among flying debris when Ji Jue arrived at the bathroom ruins...

Moreover, while checking on him, Ji Jue noticed — Yan Fei's younger brother Yan Chang had also awakened his powers naturally!

Even earlier than Yan Fei!

According to Ji Jue's guess, upon waking up from a dream, he opened his eyes and became a Chosen One, just that his physical and spiritual condition was too fragile to show it.

As for the target of Superior, congratulations, it's Heart Core!

It's safe to say, these two brothers indeed possess extraordinary skills, having clinched the first and second spots on Superior's quality list completely!

Being valuable talents, Ji Jue naturally won't waste them. Currently, Yan Fei is still in the assessment phase of an apprentice reserve; they'll deal with the cultural lessons later. If necessary, letting his younger brother forcibly cram the knowledge into his brain could work. And Ji Jue is also seeking Yan Chang's inheritance.

However, when they heard Ji Jue was heading to Central Earth, both volunteered enthusiastically. Despite the risks, Ji Jue initially wanted to decline, but considering the shortage of people here, plus the Heart Core's ability to sense killing intent and ensure its security, letting them stay as assistants isn't much of a trap.

As luck would have it, they also needed an HR and a repairman here. If they want to work, consider it job allocation.

Among the employees who approached them from dreams, some hailed from Central Earth and were willing to follow Ji Jue in business, thus forming the Coastal Industry's branch team.

Over half a month, Old Gou had set up the local façade.

The main issue was hiring difficult people, and those hired had significantly low education levels, along with being overly sly.

On the way into the city, Old Gou couldn't stop cursing.

Renting an office building as the Coastal's branch in the city's most stable area almost cost as much as in East City Center, and everything was expensive, from eating to sanitation.

Of course, there were free spots.

Over in the wilderness or slum areas outside the city, one could mess around freely, though don't expect safety or stability, losing people was guaranteed.

Because of the garrison base, the road leading to the city almost rivaled Cliff City, broad and even, albeit slightly less maintained, yet without cratered shells nor muddy pits.

The scene inside Tower City upended everyone's typical view of Central Earth.

Towering buildings arose, the city center bustling with shopping malls and luxury stores crowded together, the roads clean, filled with people, without signs of crime or beggars.

Because the city lords, compassionate as they were, couldn't bear to see the poor suffer or beg, rumors suggested that secretly, at night, they did good deeds, offering purple eggs, and once satiated, everyone left.

So much so, that a lotus bloomed in the cesspit.

A golden city rising from the latrines.

"Must be quite a sight when it burns." Ji Jue murmured softly.

In the back seat, Old Gou turned back dazedly: "Boss, what did you say?"

"I said it looks nice."

Ji Jue replied with a smile.

Yan Chang, next to Old Gou, was dozing as always, seemingly hearing nothing.

Meanwhile, the underage driver Yan Fei, who now fit right in with the local area, skillfully navigated through the bustling traffic while honking the horn incessantly.

The office space in a high-end mall had been thoughtfully decorated; although small, it looked decent.

A promising start.

After taking a look around, Ji Jue nodded slowly, repeatedly praising, 'thriving and prosperous.'

After hearing the new secretary's report, Old Gou paused for a moment, took the envelope from her, and walked over: "Boss, this arrived this morning for you to see."

An envelope.

Inside the envelope was an invitation.

Inviting Mr. Ji Jue, local representative of Sea Tide Military Industry, to attend a charitable dinner in the most luxurious hotel of Tower City this evening, with the theme of maintaining city order and creating a better Tower City.

The inviter was the local Zhengrong Group of Tower City.

Ji Jue merely glanced at it and chuckled knowingly.

"Of course, why wouldn't I go?"

The name Zhengrong Group might sound unclear, but the subtle Desert Market logo on the trademark said it all; this was the local Desert Market indeed.

Whether the event was truly charitable is aside, and whether it maintained city order and created a better Tower City even less of a concern, just check the list of attending members.

Ranging from the Federation Empire down to local representatives from major military industries, and dignitaries across various local industries, more importantly, the local base commanders from both Federation and Empire sides!

This was essentially a semi-public conference to notify internally and communicate externally the positions and requirements of both parties!

No one cared who Ji Jue was, only his role as Sea Tide Military Industry's representative mattered.

If he truly intended to integrate into the local circle, vie for the market, and make a difference, Ji Jue simply couldn't afford not to attend or miss it!

Whether he would be having a meal or become the meal was an entirely different question after going.

"Good thing I brought a formal suit."

Ji Jue closed the invitation, placed it into his pocket.

No matter whether they come with good intentions or not, I'm no kind soul either, let's meet and see who's the dragon and who's the snake!
