Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 1171: Filled with Questions

This was a battle of destiny, a confrontation between the Heavenly Master and the zombie, just because the exorcist ancestors said that zombies should be killed, just because of a rule passed down through generations among demon exorcists. Zhang Lingyu used her most powerful Taoist art that she could currently wield, powerful enough to threaten Lin Tian's Taoist art.

Within just a breath, Lin Tian's retaliating palm almost struck Zhang Lingyu, but at that moment, she smiled, looking at Lin Tian, smiling with a hint of sadness, a hint of tragic beauty.

Her originally clear eyes were now swirling with mist, faintly reflecting Lin Tian's shadow. At this moment, her eyes seemed to see only Lin Tian.

Zhang Lingyu's hand moved again. Her right hand, holding a lightning ball, shifted a few inches to the side, and the lightning ball passed by Lin Tian with a destructive force.

When she smiled, Lin Tian knew something had changed, but he didn't expect this kind of change; Zhang Lingyu actually deliberately let go!

Lin Tian forcibly retracted his palm in an instant, just as Zhang Lingyu seemed to know that Lin Tian would do this, and at the moment he was about to retract, she actively collided with Lin Tian's hand.

Zhang Lingyu had no protection, colliding with Lin Tian's hand with her body. The force from Lin Tian's unretracted palm instantly struck her shoulder.

The force of Lin Tian combined with her own impact was immense. With just one hit, she flew backward like a kite with a broken string, and in the glaring sunlight, specks of blood danced in the air.

"Lingyu..."

Lin Tian cried out in grief, rushing forward at his fastest speed, catching her body before she hit the ground. In Lin Tian's arms, Zhang Lingyu spat out a mouthful of fresh blood again, staining her dress, and the specks of crimson were so painful to Lin Tian's heart.

As he held Zhang Lingyu, Lin Tian also saw the "misfired" lightning ball. After shooting out for a bit, it collided with the ground, with no explosion, no scene of bursting.

The lightning ball merely flashed, and the ground disappeared just like that. A pit with a diameter of over twenty meters appeared where the lightning ball vanished, and from Lin Tian's position, the bottom of the pit could not be seen.

It was so silent yet terrifying, destruction occurred in silence, and if the lightning ball had hit him, Lin Tian didn't know what the outcome would have been.

Although he was a zombie body, much stronger than the ground, but such a way of destruction made Lin Tian feel a chill, even if half of his body wasn't destroyed, at least he would be seriously injured.

Lin Tian didn't think further because in his arms lay the injured Zhang Lingyu, and it should have been him lying there.

The only solace was that he retracted some of his force in time, and Lin Tian hurriedly checked her injuries. When he used his vision to see Zhang Lingyu's chaotic breath, he was instantly stunned.

"How could this be? My force, coupled with your own strength, shouldn't cause such injuries, why?" Lin Tian frowned deeply, speaking with self-blame and confusion.

Zhang Lingyu slowly stretched out her hand, gently touching his brow, softly saying, "Lin Tian, don't blame yourself, I don't want you to frown. In my heart, you're a carefree and uninhibited man, your face should always wear a smile." This speech was unprecedentedly gentle.

This left Lin Tian bewildered, how did Zhang Lingyu, who was just fighting with all her might, suddenly become so gentle? Wasn't it a battle of destiny? Wasn't it supposed to continue until one side was conquered?

"No matter what, let me heal you first." Lin Tian restrained his urge to question her and was about to undo the gold thread on his wrist to do acupuncture healing.

But Zhang Lingyu gently held his hand, saying, "No need, I have healing medicine on me, help me take it out."

Lin Tian looked up and down and noticed that her purple dress had no pockets at all, puzzled, he asked, "Where did you put your healing medicine?"

"Inside my waistband, there's a hidden pocket, reach in and get it," Zhang Lingyu reminded.

Lin Tian looked down, indeed finding an inconspicuous opening on the side of the skirt's waistband. He didn't think much and reached in directly.

Beneath the purple dress, there was a thin lining, but even through the lining, Lin Tian could feel the smoothness of Zhang Lingyu's skin.

The touch through the lining was already this good; what if he touched her skin directly? Lin Tian didn't dare think further. Last time, when the little girl was attacked and injured by a vampire, Lin Tian didn't even have time to properly feel while he treated her.

Zhang Lingyu's waist was the most sensitive, and Lin Tian's hand seemed to possess a magic power, making her glare at him, her pale face blushing.

Not knowing the structure of such a hidden pocket, Lin Tian fumbled for a while and seemed to grasp something. When he took it out, it turned out to be a stack of talisman paper.

He had always been curious about where Zhang Lingyu kept her talisman paper; turns out, it was here, quite hidden.

Lin Tian put the talisman paper back and continued to explore. What seemed like a small pocket really contained quite a bit. It appeared to be specially designed for demon exorcists to hide many talismans.

"What's this?" Lin Tian pulled out a piece of hard paper, looking at it with curiosity. Upon further inspection, he discovered it was a photo.

The photo featured a handsome man; it was just a side profile, yet it couldn't hide his good looks. Judging by the angle, it was probably taken stealthily with a phone.

Lin Tian, puzzled about why Zhang Lingyu would keep a photo of a man so close, felt a bit jealous, then noticed the man in the photo looked familiar, someone he often saw.

Wait a minute, isn't this handsome guy me? Lin Tian realized that everyone looks at their own face all the time, yet sees it the least, except in the mirror, resulting in a familiarity tinged with unfamiliarity.

That's exactly how Lin Tian felt; it took him over ten seconds to recognize the man in the photo was himself. Seeing Lin Tian holding a photo for so long without a word, Zhang Lingyu opened her eyes to check, and saw him holding her photo.

"Why... why do you have my photo? Give it back," Zhang Lingyu said nervously.

Initially, Lin Tian intended to tease her a bit, but considering the little girl was already injured, he refrained, returning the photo to her, and continued to search for the healing medicine.

Not caring about the strange feeling in her waist, Zhang Lingyu clutched the photo, explaining, "Don't get the wrong idea, the reason I carry your photo is because you're my target, understand?"

The statement lacked confidence, and Lin Tian just smiled, saying, "Alright, I understand, you're just after me."

"That's more like it," Zhang Lingyu said.

Lin Tian shook his head helplessly, finally touching a small bottle. Taking it out, he saw that it was indeed a tiny jade bottle, "This is the healing medicine, right? Quickly take it; I have a bunch of questions to ask you."

Zhang Lingyu's unusual behavior left Lin Tian a bit at a loss, now thinking about it made him a bit scared. If he really killed Zhang Lingyu by accident... Lin Tian couldn't even bear to imagine the consequences.
