Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 1211: The Hunting Operation

Through Xiao Manxue's introduction, Lin Tian learned the name of the female swordmaster, Reina, who was now staring intently at him, to which he responded with a nonchalant smile.

Reina seemed unable to discern anything, then turned to Xiao Manxue and said, "Since he's your friend, I won't say much. Just one thing, they need to be mindful of their words and actions while in Holy Spirit Town; the young people here are not easy to deal with."

Xiao Manxue glanced at Lin Tian, forcing a wry smile, thinking, Teacher, saying this to me is useless because I can't control him; he became famous as soon as he arrived.

"Let's go, follow me." Reina placed the giant sword she was holding onto the weapons rack and then led the way out of the Martial Arts Arena.

The four followed Reina to a building. Although Lin Tian couldn't discern the structure of these ancient-style buildings and their purposes from the outside, from the clothes being dried above, he could tell it was a dormitory, the dormitory of the Female College.

It wasn't Lin Tian's first time entering a girls' dormitory; last time, at Xikou City High School, entering the girls' dormitory felt like entering Silk Cave. Facing thousands of troops, he could remain calm, but facing these bold girls, he felt overwhelmed.

The girls here were not ordinary people, bolder, more direct. Lin Tian had just seen a girl wearing only a bustier walk past him, boldly eyeing him up.

Lin Tian doubted that if Reina Sword Saint weren't around, these girls might directly act unruly; given their skills, ordinary men would only be at their mercy.

After passing through a hallway, Reina entered a room. Xiao Manxue asked in confusion, "Teacher, isn't this my former dorm room?"

"Do you remember your junior and roommate?" Reina asked in return without stopping as she walked inside.

Xiao Manxue had a bad premonition, hurriedly rushing inside. It was a suite with a living room and two bedrooms. She ran into the innermost room, and Reina did not stop her.

"Zhu Li..."

A cry of astonishment came from the bedroom—it was Xiao Manxue's scream, filled with shock and anxiety. Lin Tian glanced at Reina Sword Saint, noting her unchanged expression, indicating that the female swordmaster had anticipated Xiao Manxue's reaction.

Lin Tian signaled with his eyes for Rossi and Secretary Xu to wait outside, then entered alone. Reina sighed slightly and followed him into the room.

The room contained a bed, a desk, and many decorations. Sunlight streamed in from outside, making it very bright—a sunny, good dormitory, except at that moment, Lin Tian smelled the pervasive scent of blood in the air.

And the source of that bloody scent was a girl lying unconscious on the bed. The girl's body and limbs were wrapped in bandages, making her look like a mummy, yet shockingly, the bandages were stained red with blood.

Xiao Manxue crouched by the bed, extending her hands to touch the girl's but hesitated, fearing to due to the bandages even covering her fingers.

The injuries were severe; Lin Tian marveled internally. He didn't need an X-ray to sense it since, as a zombie, he was most sensitive to blood.

"Teacher, what happened to Zhu Li? Why is she so seriously injured? Who did this?" Xiao Manxue asked anxiously, a stream of questions pouring out.

Reina waved her hand, indicating for everyone to sit: "Sit and listen to what I have to say."

Once everyone was seated, Reina Sword Saint continued, "Last week, the Frostwind Team from the Knight Academy organized a hunting operation targeting the vampires lurking in Wudu. However, one team member was absent for personal reasons. Their leader invited Zhu Li to join as a temporary member for the hunt..."

Reina Sword Saint calmly narrated the events to Lin Tian and the others, explaining the cause and effect. It turned out that such vampire hunts occurred periodically.

According to previous experiences, their hunting operations rarely encountered high-level vampires, so although Zhu Li was only a lower-grade student, she still participated in the operation.

Many had become complacent, thinking it would be a simple hunt as usual and an opportunity for real combat. Who knew they would face fierce resistance from the vampires?

These vampires, although not high-level, were much stronger than ordinary ones. Though the participating team eventually won, it was a bitter victory, with one Guardian dead and over half severely wounded, including Zhu Li, who was the most injured.

When Zhu Li was rescued, her limb bones were shattered, and several ribs broken. Worse yet, her wounds were infected by the vampire's malice, failing to heal and leaving her in a comatose state.

"Damn it, the Frostwind Team knew Zhu Li didn't have real combat experience yet still let her join such a dangerous hunt." Xiao Manxue looked at the unconscious Zhu Li with much heartache, and was furious with the Frostwind Team.

"The Frostwind Team indeed bears unavoidable responsibility, but now is not the time for holding accountable. The most urgent matter now is to heal Zhu Li. I found you this time to treat Zhu Li. Originally, I sought out your mentor, but unable to find him, and since you happened to come to England, I called you back immediately."

"Huaxia's ancient medicine is very miraculous; I hope to utilize it to heal Zhu Li," Reina Sword Saint said.

Xiao Manxue turned swiftly to Lin Tian, imploring, "Lin Tian, save Zhu Li."

"Manxue, he is..." Reina Sword Saint questioned skeptically.

"Lin Tian is one of the inheritors of ancient medicine, having treated many difficult and complicated cases. I believe he can heal Zhu Li," Xiao Manxue asserted confidently, full of trust in Lin Tian.

Reina still held a doubtful attitude because no matter how impressive Xiao Manxue made him sound, Lin Tian indeed looked too young, and mastering medicine requires time, so Reina had reasons for her doubts.

Lin Tian disregarded the suspicious gaze from the female swordmaster and sat in front of the bed to diagnose Zhu Li. Zhu Li should be a hybrid, with black hair and eyes, yet her skin was whiter than that of Asians, and her facial features were more European.

Using his perspective vision for Reyna's diagnosis, he realized how much pain this girl had endured. Supposedly broken limb bones, not broken in just one place; her forearm's bones were broken into three segments.

Various soft tissue contusions, numerous small wounds on the body's surface, like claw marks, were clearly from vampire claws or bats. Although these small wounds looked minor, just as Reina Sword Saint said, they hadn't healed at all; some were still slowly oozing blood.

The injuries on Zhu Li also indirectly demonstrated the intensity of the hunt-and-fight at that time. Lin Tian had even less good feelings toward the Frostwind Team, because they invited a girl who got severely injured while the Frostwind Team remained unscathed.
