At the same time, not only Clark but also the surrounding vampires transformed into Blood-sucking Bats and launched attacks from above.
"Manxue, don't worry about me, your only task is to rescue the villagers." Reina Sword Saint shouted, then brandished her sword and engaged the vampires in battle. Clark also stopped messing around and joined the fray.
Xiao Manxue tossed alchemical potions to the other team members, and then, following Reina Sword Saint's instructions, she administered the potion to each villager. As expected, after inhaling the potion, the villagers regained their strength within seconds.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, Jin Lisi was forgotten, and no team member gave him a potion. Anxious, Jin Lisi shouted, "I, I need some here..."
Xiao Manxue glanced at him and threw a bottle of potion his way, then sternly ordered, "After helping yourself, immediately rescue other villagers and organize their evacuation. I hope you won't be a drag on the team again."
Jin Lisi sniffed the potion, nodded, and joined the rescue efforts without saying more.
Though there were many villagers, the team worked quickly, and it didn't take long for all the villagers to regain their mobility.
"Everyone, quickly leave the castle, the farther the better." Xiao Manxue shouted loudly.
Actually, without needing her reminder, the villagers were already rushing outside. The once beautiful purple lavender fields were now trampled and in disarray.
The villagers had just been through a fright and didn't care about trampling the lavender; escaping with their lives was their priority. Lin Tian shook his head slightly; to be honest, he didn't have any fondness for this small town.
Sixty years ago, their belief in gods could be explained as ignorant and backward, but their later slander and persecution of the Holy Daughter were not due to backward thinking. Kindness knows no age, yet the villagers back then couldn't be called kind, and were even wicked.
Lin Tian and Xiao Manxue stayed at the rear, escorting the villagers out of the wedding site, through the gate, and across the bridge in front of the castle.
Just as the villagers crossed the bridge and were about to continue running toward town, a figure flew down from the castle wall, crashing with a bang, creating a pit right at the bridgehead, almost breaking the bridge.
Someone jumped out of the pit—it was Reina Sword Saint. She looked a bit disheveled, her hair messy, blood at the corner of her mouth, and even her greatsword had a nick.
For a noble Sword Saint to be reduced to this state in just ten minutes—were these vampires really that formidable?
"Mentor..." Xiao Manxue called out and was about to run over.
Reina Sword Saint stopped her, shouting, "Don't worry about me, hurry and take the villagers away. These vampires are very bizarre; their levels aren't particularly high, but their fighting power is absurdly high, as if they've taken berserk potions."
"Berserk potions?" Lin Tian was puzzled, could it be another type of alchemical potion?
Xiao Manxue, however, was undeterred. As she ran back, she said, "That makes it all the more impossible for me to leave you, Mentor."
"You all go, I'll handle them!" Someone rushed out from the gate and stood in front of Reina Sword Saint: "Reina, you're hurt, take a rest, I'll hold them off alone."
"Mark, what nonsense are you talking about? Even I can't beat them; how can you hold them off, step aside," Reina shouted, trying to pull Mark away. But despite her efforts, Mark remained unmoved.
"You?" Reina frowned, unable to move Mark with her strength. Although she was injured, she should still be able to move Mark easily considering their previous strength comparison.
Mark didn't speak but suddenly emitted a powerful aura, and the greatsword in his hand glowed with a blue light, the aura rising continuously, most intensely felt by the nearby Reina.
Reina was stunned because Mark's aura was stronger than hers at her peak.
"Mark, your strength?" Reina asked her first question as she came to her senses.
Mark had always lost to her, not winning even once, yet now he was unexpectedly strong.
"Reina, I'm sorry for never telling you, this is my true strength." Mark looked at Reina with a smile and said.
"You deliberately lost to me in the past, why?" Reina Sword Saint asked in confusion.
"Reina, ever since you became a Sword Saint, you've never lost a fight against anyone. This cultivated an extraordinary sharpness in you, allowing you to overcome more obstacles and achieve better promotions."
"I purposely lost to you because I didn't want to damage your sharpness, though I also wanted to defeat you so we could formally be together, but I couldn't. I'm willing to wait." Clark spoke earnestly and passionately.
A deeply affectionate man, he supported Reina silently in this loving way.
"You fool, how do you know losing once would break my sharpness? You're underestimating me, Reina." Reina scolded, though her tone was still her usual reprimand, everyone could hear the deep affection it now carried.
Both of them had feelings for each other, and now that the truth was out in the open, naturally, their relationship advanced rapidly.
"It's touching, but fools won't understand this kind of feeling. Look at those villagers; they won't be moved, for they only know fear. Their selfishness can destroy the deepest love." Clark slowly walked out of the castle and said seriously.
"Join us. I can grant you eternal life. Your love lasting until the end of time won't just be a pledge. If you wish, you can love until the end of the earth and the end of time!" Clark looked at Mark with admiration, extending an olive branch.
But Mark coldly laughed and responded harshly, "You simply don't understand. For those in love, even a few decades spent aging and dying together is happiness. Love doesn't lie in eternal time or the end of the earth, but in two hearts being together! Want me to become a vampire, no way!"
"The opportunity is only once. Since you've given up eternal life, I'll send you away now, and see if your lover will avenge me after your death. By then, what she does won't differ much from what I'm doing now." Clark said coldly.
With a wave of his hand, countless bats suddenly flew out from the castle, Clark himself transforming into a bat and flying into the bat swarm. The innumerable bats spiraled and, incredibly, formed a massive black fist.
Like a Titan Giant's punch, the black fist thunderously smashed down, the target being Mark. Before the fist landed, the ripple of power caused the castle's bridge to collapse with a crash.
