Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 1310: All Withdrawn?

As Lin Tian spoke, Luo Lin had already charged into the second wave of enemies, her two daggers dancing, sending the heads of one Blood Clan member after another flying.

Luo Lin's strength surpassed even Reya's. With her speed and dagger skills, the low-level Blood Clan members couldn't withstand her attacks for long. She nearly drew the entire second wave's assault on her own.

Though she was formidable, it didn't mean the low-level Blood Clan had no way to deal with her. With a sudden howl, four low-level Blood Clan members simultaneously surrounded her and self-destructed before even closing in.

Four mushroom clouds rose up, the intense shockwave wreaking havoc, causing her to stagger, but she still jumped upward, avoiding the explosion's center. As soon as Luo Lin landed, four more low-level Blood Clan members rushed her. She decapitated one, but the other three simultaneously self-destructed. The opposing low-level Blood Clan didn't even fight; they all opted for suicide explosions.

This time the distance was closer, and the explosion sent her flying into a group of low-level Blood Clan members. Luo Lin looked around and felt a chill in her heart. She suddenly transformed into a cloud of black smoke, countless bats bursting forth from it.

This was her transformation into a Blood-sucking Bat, attempting to escape, but the surrounding low-level Blood Clan members also transformed into bats, swarming in numbers too vast to count, and exploded upon nearing her bat swarm.

The sky lit up like fireworks, one blood-colored explosion after another, blood mixed with bat carcass fragments, fell leisurely down. Under the moonlight, this "fireworks" scene was both magnificent and eerie.

A figure was blasted out from the blood-colored "fireworks," and it was Luo Lin, reverted back to human form. Lin Tian shook his head secretly, surprised by the craziness of these low-level Blood Clan members; they truly showed no concern for their lives.

He suddenly dashed forward, leaping high to catch the blasted Luo Lin midair. Luo Lin's clothes had also been blown to tatters, exposing large areas of skin on her chest and thighs. Fortunately, her leather suit was custom-made and at least covered the crucial parts.

However, her face and hair were stained with blood, unsure if it was hers or the enemy's, making her look utterly bedraggled.

"I told you, you don't have to fight, just collect the data on the potion effects. If you'd been killed, how would I explain to Elder Asina?" Luo Lin struggled a bit in Lin Tian's arms, gritting her teeth.

"If I hadn't come, what if you'd died?" Lin Tian countered as he landed.

"Whether I live or die isn't your concern; right now, I'm the team leader, and you have to listen to me." Luo Lin stubbornly insisted.

"Who says you're not my concern? You still owe me a night of companionship. How could I let you die just like that?" Lin Tian said roguishly.

"You…" Luo Lin seethed with anger.

With a bang, someone crashed down at their feet. Lin Tian glanced down to see it was Reya, who'd also been blown out. At this point, he was practically only left wearing a pair of intact briefs; his pants and other clothing were all in tatters.

While looking rather disheveled, he seemed otherwise unharmed. As Reya lifted his head, his face fell seeing Lin Tian and Luo Lin embracing, "Brother Tian, that's not fair, flaunting your romance amidst a fight." he quipped.

Luo Lin hurriedly struggled out from Lin Tian's arms, nervously tidying her hair before saying, "It's not what you think with him and me."

Lin Tian sighed skyward, thinking to himself, "You little girl, there's no need to explain if there's nothing. Explaining now just seems like you're covering it up."

Reya jumped up from the ground, his expression knowing, "Brother Tian, Luo Lin never had a man before; you're the first, you know."

"Reya, say one more word, and I'll cut you!" Luo Lin threatened with a glare.

"Alright, not another word. I'm going back to chop those bastards; they blew my clothes to bits," Rossi said angrily, grabbing his greatsword, ready to charge out again.

Lin Tian reached out to stop him, and Reya turned, looking at Lin Tian in confusion, "Brother Tian, what's…?"

"Give me the sword," Lin Tian didn't answer his question, just motioned with his hand.

Reya hesitated, not quite understanding, while Luo Lin, though not knowing what Lin Tian intended, handed over her daggers instead, "Use mine. My daggers are better than his greatsword."

"How are they better than my greatsword? Our weapons were forged at the same time. Why should your daggers be the best? Brother Tian, use mine," Reya protested defiantly.

He'd never really submitted to Luo Lin in the first place. Although Lin Tian's arrival had improved things a bit, being told his weapon was inferior to hers was naturally irritating.

"You said it; don't regret it later," Lin Tian said, taking his greatsword and giving it a swing—a classic Western broadsword, perfect for sweeping slashes.

Luo Lin and Reya exchanged looks, both puzzled at what Lin Tian intended to do. Was he planning to confront the enemy personally? Rushing forward now was tantamount to walking into a trap.

Lin Tian paid no mind to their thoughts, stepping forward and positioning himself in front of them with his back to them, "Call them all back," he said.

"Huh? Call them back?" Reya blinked, puzzled. Calling back now meant no one would escape.

"Trust me," Lin Tian said calmly.

Reya turned to look at Luo Lin. She was the leader; only she could give the command. Luo Lin hesitated briefly, but then resolutely opened her mouth, emitting a piercing howl.

The Sinmore Bloodline fighting at the front received the signal and immediately dropped their opponents, retreating at full speed. The Jimi Chi Clan probably hadn't anticipated Sinmore's sudden retreat, reacting a beat slower.

This allowed Sinmore's Blood Clan to make it back to the highway. Another howl from the opposing leader prompted the Jimi Chi Clan to press forward, unleashing a frenzy that was both terrifying and breathtaking.

Luo Lin and Reya gestured, calming their companions' restless emotions, both turning their eyes to Lin Tian, wondering what he could do in this dire, outmatched situation.

Lin Tian stood still, single-handedly gripping the greatsword, its blade angled diagonally toward the ground. Behind him, the Blood Clan assumed he was paralyzed with fear. After all, facing a horde of raging Blood Clan members, even the cold-blooded wouldn't be entirely fearless.

But at that moment, Lin Tian was conversing with the Sword Spirit in his mind.

"Little Ya, if you're not asleep, give me a sign," Lin Tian called out.

"You need my help again? Oh, how did I end up with you? Truly unfortunate," bemoaned the Sword Spirit.

"Same old deal: you maintain the greatsword's integrity, and I'll let you absorb the flame energy," Lin Tian, tired of its talkative nature, directly laid out his terms.

"You should've mentioned flame energy earlier; no problem, I'll maintain it as long as you need," the Sword Spirit, initially grumbling, became suddenly agreeable upon hearing about flame energy.

Lin Tian felt inclined to scoff at this quick-faced change akin to flipping a page, but he couldn't be bothered to bicker further, simply releasing his constraints on it.

The Sword Spirit, familiar with the process, passed through his arm to take residence within the greatsword, which shimmered momentarily with a faint golden glow.
