Hi everyone,
I hope you are all doing great!
First things first ... The Little One is here!! And she's the most perfect, most adorable little baby!
After some days in the hospital, mother and baby are now home, and we're all settling in to this new phase of our lives. And, of course, bye-bye sleep. Hahaha!
I was meant to write an update with the end of Book 5, but things were a little wild for a while and we had to just drop everything and go into survival mode.
So, I hope you all enjoyed the end of Book 5 (lots of questions there I know, but hold onto those! It will make sense!). I also hope that you are looking forward to see what happens in Book 6, the other half of the Brightnight Arc. Book 6 is halfway done for draft 2, and it's been so, so damn awesome to write. There are major epic things happening that I've been wanting to write for almost a year now, and it's a great relief and joy to see it down in written.
Unfortunately, I did decide that I need a bit of a break before I start releasing chapters again. As always, I want to be fully open and honest with you all as to why:
- Our Little One is obviously the main reason. Not only does she and mom require a lot of time and care, but I also want to spend as much time as possible with them!
- Publishing deadlines. Because these days rapid release is the way, that means working on several books at the same time in a pipeline. This has drastically affected my daily writing output. Currently I'm doing Line Edit for Book 2 and Science and Continuity for Book 1, and Book 3 will be going to the Dev Editor soon as well, and Book 4 right after. All these need proper care and attention, as we're making sure everything is aligned and the books come out as polished as they can be.
The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
- Book 6 needs draft 2 finished. As I said, some huge, huge things are coming for Nar and the party in Book 6. I think you all have an idea as to what's about to go down, but its my sincere aim to wow you all with Book 6! But that does mean I need to go through the book with a fine comb to ensure everything is ready to go.
- Book 7. I need to draft my chapter outlines first, and then get down to actually writing it in order to revive my backlog.
- And then...Well. Truth is, I have many stories that I want to tell. I've focused on Path of the Last Champion for the last two years and a bit, and I think that it would be good for me to write something else at the same time. To be fully clear, Path of the Last Champion is not being dropped! I just think that for my sanity it will be good to work on a little something else at the same time.
So, there are two stories in particular that I would like to write. I'm stepping a bit away from litrpg and more into progfantasy, and also focusing more on the fantasy side of things rather than sci-fi (though, I love me some good magitech, hahaha!). Both stories are already very well defined in my mind, and the one that is more solid is the one I'll be focusing on first.
What's the story about? In two words: portal fantasy and magic academy. But! It's also so, so much more than that. As with Path of the Last Champion, you can expect an epic story, mystery and intrigue, characters that (I hope) feel truly real, and great emphasis on worldbuilding to bring to life what I hope will be a pretty cool and unique setting. I'm really excited about writing it and showing it to all of you! Of course, writing this story will depend on the progress of Book 6 and 7, the whole editing, and whether or not the little one will let me work, hahaha! But she was very well behaved last night, and spent the night next to me as I pulled an all-nighter to get Line Editing back on track, so fingers crossed!
So, yeah. With that all said, I'll be taking a one month break, with chapter release aimed for December 1st. The new schedule will be 3 chapters a week, but I'll see how things progress. Patreon will also remain on pause.
And that's it, I think. Apologies for the long silence from my side. I was going at a mad pace trying to get as much as possible done before the baby came, and now, I'm still going like mad, hahaha!
I hope to see you all again in December. Book 6 is looking really cool!
Thank you all for your patience and understanding, and for coming along in this mad journey with me! As always, you all are the best, and I hope life is good to you!
Cheers,
Everhart
