(The Third Update)
Many people interpreted Ling Jinhua's words as the Ling Family's intention to heavily support Luo Ziling; the accompanying officials all thought so.
Therefore, they believed that Luo Ziling's future was surely limitless.
Only Luo Liansheng and Luo Xusheng didn't think this way.
They felt that Ling Jinhua's actions were not for Luo Ziling's good but were making Luo Ziling a target for everyone to attack. The saying goes, "The tree that stands out in the forest is sure to be blown by the wind," an ancient truth. Or, Luo Ziling was still playing the role of a whetstone, except the nature of the whetstone had changed. Put bluntly, it was an upgrade.
Not only did he need to serve as a whetstone for the Ling Family, but he also had to shield the Ling Family from external attacks, acting as the vanguard in the charge for the Ling Family.
Luo Ziling believed that if the news of him accompanying Ling Jinhua on tours over the past two days became widely known, people would certainly think he was deeply favored by Ling Jinhua.
Not only would the Ling Family be jealous and compete with him, but others would also be envious, treating him as a target—what kind of target, who knows?
Originally, he was already excellent, but with the Ling Family tag and the mark of being favored by Ling Jinhua, Luo Ziling felt that Grandpa had pit him again. Hence, he was quite displeased. But he couldn't escape in a critical moment and had to brace himself to continue accompanying Ling Jinhua.
After more than an hour of heavy mood, the tour ended.
Although he was supported by Luo Ziling, Ling Jinhua was also a bit tired.
A group of people was led into the lounge by the museum staff to rest.
The staff brought out a guestbook, hoping the leaders would write a few words.
Ling Jinhua didn't refuse, and after the staff prepared the brush and ink, he quickly wrote a line: "Past events are not forgotten, they can guide the future. Falling behind invites attacks, work hard to strengthen national defense, defeat the enemy outside the gates."
Seeing Ling Jinhua write such a sentence, Luo Ziling couldn't help but twitch his lips. This was too straightforward; these words didn't leave any special impression.
"You're praised as a national hero, and your handwriting is good too, so you should write a few words!" Ling Jinhua handed the brush to Luo Ziling.
With everyone's eyes on him, Luo Ziling hesitated a bit, but eventually didn't refuse.
Two reasonably stylish female staff members came forward to lay the paper, inviting Luo Ziling to write.
Luo Ziling noticed Luo Xusheng's warning look. He understood the meaning in Luo Xusheng's eyes.
With so many leaders yet to write, a commoner like you taking the spotlight was inappropriate.
Luo Ziling understood this, so he knew he shouldn't write anything before the other leaders. But with Ling Jinhua's request, he couldn't refuse. Once again, Grandpa set him up—this was Luo Ziling's frustration.
Because of his mood, and differing views with Ling Jinhua earlier, Luo Ziling, out of defiance, wrote down two lines from Li Bai's poem on the paper: "When Hu People disappear, the Han path prospers."
Renowned poet Li Bai has countless works passed down to today, but among all of Li Bai's poems, Luo Ziling's favorite was the lesser-known "No Hu People".
This poem, though not considered lesser-known in ancient times, was presumably quite famous back then. However, due to some special reasons, Li Bai's great work is seldom mentioned in modern times.
Still, Luo Ziling really liked this poem. He thought the poem was written with a lot of spirit, capturing the blood and honor of men during the Prosperous Tang.
"The severe wind blows frost, sea grass withers, sinews tough and strong, Hu horses proud. Thirty thousand warriors of the Han, the general leads, Huo Piaoyao." Li Bai compares Han to Tang, talking about Huo Qubing leading thousands of troops into the Hu land in the harsh winter. Huo Qubing was one of the ancient generals Luo Ziling admired most, and even as a child, he dreamed of being like General Huo, leading troops to the west, expanding borders for Huaxia.
However, as he grew up, he understood that in today's era, expanding territory for the country was impossible.
In peaceful times, mobilizing troops easily isn't feasible, so how could one expand territory?
But this didn't affect Huo Qubing's image and status in Luo Ziling's heart.
"A white feather like a meteor inserted in the waist, a gleaming sword out of the sheath like autumn lotus. Heaven's army descends through snow at Jade Gate, enemy arrows like sand against golden armor. Dragons and tigers clash in the clouds, Taibai entering the moon, the enemy could be crushed." Look at how Li Bai's writing moves the soul, vividly portraying the bravery of Han soldiers.
When Luo Ziling read this poem as a child, he interpreted "Taibai" to mean Li Bai himself, thinking that Li Bai was too bold, writing himself into the poem, placing himself among Huo Piaoyao, fighting the Hu troops. Anyway, every time Luo Ziling read this poem, it stirred his blood.
"Enemies could be crushed, the enemy's flag extinguished, trampling the Hu intestine, traversing Hu blood. Hu hung on the blue sky above, buried beside the purple frontier." Some say the Tang Dynasty was a Hu People's regime, and being born in Hu land, Li Bai couldn't be considered Han. But after reading "No Hu People", if anyone still harbors such doubts, they could be flogged eighteen times.
If the Li Tang were a Hu People regime, how could Li Bai write such a blood-spattered "No Hu People" and not be exterminated? If he were Hu, could he write such a poem?
Luo Ziling greatly admired Li Bai for this quality—a seemingly fragile scholar having such chivalry, writing hatred for the Hu People so deeply.
Literally wanting to dismember the Hu People, it read so gratifyingly.
Luo Ziling understood why this kind of poem wasn't promoted now, but he was angry at Ling Jinhua for making him a target, so impulsively, he used the most summarizing lines from "No Hu People" as his message.
Of course, these lines also reflected his true feelings.
Didn't those little devils commit countless crimes against Huaxia? Just wipe them out, and Huaxia would truly be peaceful and prosperous—this is the so-called "When Hu People disappear, the Han path prospers."
After Luo Ziling wrote these two lines, many people's expressions changed, including Luo Xusheng's.
Ling Jinhua also showed slight changes, but Luo Liansheng remained the same, looking at Luo Ziling with a happy expression as he signed beneath the six big characters. He even publicly praised, "The writing is getting better and better, not bad, not bad."
Ling Jinhua smirked inwardly; he understood Luo Ziling's intent in writing those six words. The little guy was using them to satirize the current situation, a counterattack against his actions today. And Luo Liansheng's praise for Luo Ziling's handwriting provided support.
Luo Ziling's calligraphy was indeed excellent, and these two lines of poetry looked quite satisfying, so Luo Liansheng's dual praise wasn't too significant.
But it was a direct challenge!
How could Ling Jinhua feel at ease?
However, the always imperturbable Ling Jinhua showed no anomalies and followed Luo Liansheng with a few words of praise: "The writing's good, with a master's style, worthy of keeping."
He immediately instructed Huang Chen to take Luo Ziling's writing and bring it back to hang in his study.
Huang Chen, who had been by Ling Jinhua's side for years, could see the signs.
Such a message wasn't suitable to be left here.
Listening to Ling Jinhua's instructions, he breathed a sigh of relief, agreed, and promptly stepped forward to roll up Luo Ziling's writing.
"Old fox," cursed Luo Ziling involuntarily in his heart.
