Because of the versatility of Silhouette's personal skill, Psychic Operation, Damien never thought of evolving it beyond its current form. After all, there was nothing more he needed from it.
However, when the upcoming mission required not only him but also his partner, there was a necessity for doubles to fill their roles for a couple of days.
What better doubles than themselves?
From this prospect, Damien decided to evolve the Silhouette from a two-star to a three-star Terrestrial Monster.
It wasn't expensive since the evolution bar of the Silhouette has already been filled. The cost of the augmentation merely numbered to around a thousand Terror Points.
Affirmative, progressing monster evolution of First-Star Terrestrial Monster: Silhouette...
1,000 Terror Points deducted!
Congratulations, evolution was a success!
You have been granted Two-Star TE Monster: Silhouettes
Damien watched as his versatile Monster became augmented by the system. He opened the status display, observing the changes brought about by the evolution.

"Hmm..." He narrowed his sapphire-tinted gaze, reading through the status display with scrutiny. It didn't take him long to nod in understanding.
On the other hand, his partner and juniors looked at him with interest. Glancing at the black-haired vampire, Echidna asked. "Is this normal?"
Hecate chuckled at the question and nodded. "He tends to talk to himself. Sometimes nodding, and other times out loud."
"But that means he's formulating something that requires his complete focus. From the looks of it, whatever he was doing was a success." She smiled at her partner.
Both Echidna and Hawk nodded in understanding; the former recognized his concentration while the latter merely followed suit, indifferent about the matter.
In any case, the changes in his status were the same as usual, with Silhouette becoming a two-star Terrestrial Monster: Silhouettes.
Psychic Operation became Duplex Operation.
It appears that he can control several Silhouettes through the newly upgraded personal skill. Perfect for what they needed to establish an alibi.
Looking at his Terror Points, Damien sighed to himself as the three thousand became two thousand in mere moments.
But the usage of Terror Points was inevitable; otherwise, there wouldn't be any use of them. At the very least, it would assist in the upcoming infiltration mission.
Turning his attention towards his partner and juniors, he remarked. "I have something that we could utilize as our alibi."
Without any hesitation or delay, he summoned Silhouettes. The shadows throughout the corners darkened as the suburban house dimmed even during the day.
Two Silhouettes emerged, their bodies blurred and uncanny. These monsters were shapeless beings, capable of transforming into anything.
Like empty contours of the world.
Echidna and Hawk tensed up, the little girl standing between her mistress and the hazy monsters. Hecate smiled at the two and explained.
"Have you ever wondered why sometimes Damien would be in two places at once?" She remarked, earning the attention of her two juniors.
"I thought that it was his teleportation that gave him that peculiar notion," Echidna responded, prompting the black-haired girl to shake her head.
"It was because he really was in two places at once. These creatures can become anyone and anything, while he could control them with ease."
"However, usually... He would only utilize one of these creatures, which made me think that it was his limit. It seems that I was wrong." She tilted her head while placing a finger below her chin.
"I see... Quite an interesting ability, perfect for intelligence gathering." Echidna muttered under her breath, realizing how her senior could become so confident.
Even when facing those who were stronger than him.
Damien looked at the three and explained. "These two will pretend to be both of us. You don't need to worry about acting since I will be the one controlling them."
"After all, I can see, feel, and think through them." He demonstrated their capabilities as one transformed into a perfect duplicate of him.
The other Damien moved with the same gestures and habits as the original and added. "Consider them as drones."
"I control them, so it isn't that they are a copy of me. I merely use them as the vessels of my mind." The other Damien waved his hand.
"Silhouettes can make perfect copies, but that is the only thing they can do. Perfect copies. They cannot replicate something from nothing. It must exist in shape or form."
The other Damien turned his sapphire-tinted gaze towards Hecate. "I will give you the second Silhouette's reins. I think you should get used to it before we start the mission."
His partner tilted her head, confused, and pointed at herself. "You want me to control it?" The mere idea was dumbfounding.
But Damien nodded with a serious expression since he couldn't pretend to be Hecate and do well to pass off as the real one in the eyes of others.
It felt bothersome for the black-haired girl, but she was also a bit interested in the experience of controlling another body.
Taking a deep breath, Hecate nodded as the second Silhouette transformed into a perfect copy of her, the original crimson-haired vampire.
She felt a strange string surfacing from her mind, and in mere moments, her existence was utilizing two bodies. Senses from two different vessels flooded her mind.
If she were a normal human, she would have gone crazy from the amount of information surging into her psyche.
Fortunately, she was a hybrid of two species known to be somewhat enduring. After taking a deep breath, she calmed herself and emptied her mind.
The crimson-haired vampire moved awkwardly, but it was without a doubt her. "Weird... It feels strange to move, yet not move. I wonder how you do this."
"You tend to get used to it once you get a hold of how it feels for quite a while," Damien responded with a smile.
Their juniors looked at the two of them, estranged by the circumstance. Echidna rubbed her eyes and sighed.
"If I hadn't personally done your makeup and seen this, I wouldn't have thought you two had gone somewhere else." She remarked as the little girl in front of her also nodded.
Hawk was confused to see two copies of her senior that felt and looked the same as the originals. It was strange since it didn't hit the uncanny valley.
The copies were merely perfect.
"Well, it would be troublesome if it were that easy to recognize the copies," Damien remarked with a subtle smile and stretched his arms upward.
"Most of the time. These two will take a nap to not distract us from the mission. If something happens, you can wake these two up, and we can take over from there."
He instructed, and the two juniors nodded in agreement. Echidna smiled at both Damien and Hecate, remarking. "There's no need to worry."
"Me Hawk and I are skilled in pretending to be normal. It would take something better than the authorities to break our cover." She winked while the black-haired girl chuckled.
"Thank you... The mission would have been more complicated if it weren't for the two of you." Hecate was grateful to her juniors.
After all, she wanted to save those experimented children the most. The more time she spent waiting, the more they would be tortured in the name of science.
"No problem... As juniors of Block 7, it's the least we could do." Echidna shook her head, recalling their time together in New Janus. Handling a vast city wasn't without its usual SIGIL team bonding.
The copies of both Damien and Hecate walked towards the room, lying beside one another in the comfortable bed. One last time, the seniors and juniors nodded.
Damien smiled as he and Hecate blinked out of the suburban house. Silence then pervaded every corner as Echidna smirked. "Intriguing, don't you think, Hawk?"
She patted the head of the little girl, ruffling her hair. Hawk merely nodded, enjoying the pat of her mistress. The two acted normally as though the events beforehand didn't occur in any way.
"Things are about to become hectic on the West Coast."
