Isekai Dungeon Architect

Chapter 108: The best mount

"If fate allows it, we shall meet once again." That was their final greetings to the people who had come to see them off.

They had a long way ahead from there. The destination that they had chosen was Millera, the [City of Labyrinth] in the far south of the continent.

To get there, they are going to be journeying for the following month, and if they are unlucky, they will face moments that will drag them down.

To reach the place, they would have to cross the great forest, pass through two different nations, and challenge a bunch of natural disasters along their way.

There was a different way to reach their destination: they could very well take the skyship from the capital of Isis or even go to places that anchored these ships.

The aerial route was easier and faster, but the same was not true for the ground road.

Not only would they have to pass through the very dangerous [Primordial forest], they would have to travel through one eighteenth of the continent by road.

It wasn't an easy journey.

If they weren't skilled people with a great guide who had taken this journey before, the rest of their people wouldn't even let them do this dumb thing.

But, they had an elf with them.

One that had travelled throughout all three continents over the last three centuries.

"I still don't understand how you convinced him! Hmph! You do realize I won't find anyone like him for a loooooooong while now?!"

The fairy innkeeper was upset because Aria somehow convinced Vice to accompany them.

That guy was avoiding her for so long she almost thought he didn't like her. But, it doesn't seem that was the case.

On the contrary to her belief, he was so interested in her that he wanted to avoid her for his own good.

However, Aria got him good.

"Hehe. He wasn't an easy catch, Miss fairy. He was pretty difficult to get through… but what can we say? He just likes to be in trouble." Aria gave her a mischievous smile but only the two of them knew the truth.

Aria didn't even ask Vice to join them. He was the one who said he'd tag along when he heard they were going through the old forest road.

He had travelled through that path enough times to know just how dangerous of a place it was.

He first cursed at the two ladies who called the old path 'an easy road' simply from what they had heard about it.

"Jeez, manager. It's not like I belonged here. You know I've wanted to leave for a while now."

"Of course I know! Hmph! You're still betraying me Vice! I thought we had something special!"

He shook his head at the small fairy that was screaming at him with red eyes.

Six years.

Six years he had worked in her inn. Six years he had lived in Westford and worked in her inn, helping her when she was going through a tough time.

She was a small fairy but she was also half his age. She wasn't like the humans so they kind of understood one another.

There was a connection between them that transcended their relationship as an employee and employer.

He surely found it difficult to just leave her out of the blue… but both of them knew they'd see each other soon.

For beings like them who lived an average life of many centuries, human lifespan was too short.

They knew the pain of losing their human friends, so they knew they'd see each other soon once again.

"Whaaaa! Why're you leaving me Vice! Don't leave! Who'll make special drinks at the inn! Whaaaa!"

She was overreacting now.

Sir Borin and the party, even the guards that had come along to send their captain Reddy off were giggling at this scene.

Aria wasn't going to ruin these moments for everyone so she just stood back as Reddy hugged her younger juniors.

She was leaving Westford, but she was taking along with her one of the best mixologists, Alchemists, and a hidden <S> rank skill holder with unfathomable potential.

They were only three people, but their value was something not many in the city would understand.

"You will be stopping at the next town first, right?" While the others couldn't tell because of the disguise item he had, the branch manager was there as well.

"Yes. First we will go through the night path through this carriage, and from the next town, we will be on our own."

Aria was causing quite the commotion at the city gates right now.

The rumors of the guard captain's retirement and departure had spread throughout the city as well.

There were more people gathering around the plaza than usual.

It wasn't a bad thing, but as it was getting darker, it wasn't a good thing for the city environment.

They needed to leave soon to reach their first destination as well, so, after understanding the branch manager's feelings, she called out to her new party.

"Everyone, we're leaving in three minutes. Can you please wrap it up?"

She didn't say it with the intention to tear apart the three from the people they were saying goodbye to.

The bartender was loved by many and had many more regulars who had come to send him off today.

The guard captain was the leading figure of the city guards as well as someone loved by many.

Even the curry shop couple from our first date had come to see her off.

Even Cass.

Cass may be a simple and hidden gem individual within the city, but he was still from a noble household.

He had an agreement with the stronger people within his house that they'd leave him alone within the city.

And now that he was leaving the city, they had come to new terms with many new rules.

He had to give up a part of his freedom for this decision, but it was much better than being pinned by them or being followed by these people.

Aria didn't like them anyway, and neither did he.

They were going to leave them behind and leave for the next place, and the house of Khalasi would continue pursuing them.

But, to prevent them from interfering with their affairs, the child of the noble house needed to act like one for the first time.

Even right now, the person he was speaking with was the right hand man of the head of the household, someone on the same level as the branch manager here.

He had negotiated with the highest power directly. To be with Aria, he had done something that had always been expected of someone of his talents.

As he was right now, the household knew he wasn't as good as he could be much later… so they had allowed him to go on this adventure as well.

However, he would not be entitled to the Khalasi name when he is on this path.

If he ever needs to use his name, he will have to prove to the patriarch that there was a beneficial reason behind it.

If not… he will have to become the sword of the household as they had always wanted willingly.

"Haaa. Guys?"

The others obviously resented Aria for taking such precious people away from them.

They weren't going to meet again for a long time now… and as dangerous as this journey was, they might never see them again.

"Ok…"

But Reddy hugged her Aide and said goodbye to the young ones.

Vice pushed off the fairy and went to Aria's side first.

Lastly, Cass shook off the people from his house and went to his new party.

Outside the gates, a carriage with the fastest horse was waiting for them along with an experienced horseman.

They would leave now and reach the next town by dawn. The road ahead was safe so they could take a little nap if they wanted on their way as well.

It's practically a highway so there shouldn't be any inconvenience along the way either.

However, once they reach the town, they will have to get their mounts and equipment, set up a carriage, and be on their way alone.

The small villages would be the pitstops along the way… but once they enter the great forest, things may not look as good as they do now.

"Thank you for everything until now, Miss Fairy."

"Hmph! You better bring him back!"

A safe city with good food and nice people, a place with a dungeon that helped with individual growth, a place where she learned so much… It was only a few weeks but she had a fun time here.

Westford was her first house in this new world. She would see more places and better scenery around the world, but… a place to return to will remain for her in this world as well.

"I will try my best. Don't worry~."

She hugged the little fairy, she shook hands with the branch manager of the association, and then she turned around to face her three— four companions.

"Qwy~!"

She was leaving the city behind.

But wherever she goes next, she would cause just as much trouble as she did here.

At the end of the day… she was a Dungeon Architect.

And after she makes a dungeon of her own, she will become a power independent from any country or organization out there in this world.
