A creature that was three times the size of the Lesser basilisk that we defeated on the first floor… You can just think of a skyscraper. The Naga mother was comparable to a thirty-story building.
When I first saw her, I instantly thought about one of the biggest roller coaster rides that I never really had the chance to visit in my previous world.
She was nothing like what she had evolved from. From a simple anaconda to something of this scale was simply crazy.
'The logic of my previous world would not be enough to explain how this was possible.'
There was an evergreen TCG game centered around a pocket monster universe in my previous world.
Those creatures were similar to these beings; every single creature of this world, be it of the dungeon or outside, possessed an innate ability to evolve into a higher form connected to their bloodline.
The evolution was largely a one-off thing, but sometimes, some creatures were seen to evolve twice or more throughout their life.
The entire process of evolution was something I still don't understand completely, but it has something to do with the experiences of the creatures as well as their innate natures.
The conditions for evolution are unknown, and they vary from creature to creature, but this evolution thing is crazy.
"I mean, how do you explain all these powers?"
"Qwy? Qwy!"
"Don't say it's cool, dummy. I mean, of course it's cool, but it just doesn't make any sense."
Carried by strong men, protected by pretty ladies, and led by a handsome captain, I was at the base, looking over the Naga mother from the safe zone.
Reddy was here with some other people, and they had set a sturdy camp with the help of various magical tools and physical barriers.
She had carried out her part of the plan well, and now it was my time to take down the green safe zone covering the Naga mother.
'And to do that, we will have to get past the dense fog that now surrounds the entire open area before the caves that connect to it.'
The Naga mother had flattened the entire area around the safe zone, and now there was a pit around the safe zone, with the entire surrounding area being a flatland.
The area that was covered by caves and different paths was now completely open, perfect for a large-scale battle.
'They are approaching quickly.'
The rest of the parties were pretty strong.
I could see everything going on in the dungeon with my guest privileges, so I knew where the other parties were right now, how their fights against the hordes of monsters were going on, and how the Snake mother was influencing all those creatures.
'She only had three eyes, but, just like me, she could observe far more than just the things before her.'
She was watching the stronger people closely.
Her three eyes and her spirit gaze were everywhere around this floor right now.
She was watching us, she was influencing the lesser beings of the floors, her three eyes were everywhere, and even though it seemed like she was resting with her children… The truth was obvious to the stronger people.
"I feel like something is watching us… that fog must be the reason."
"The spirit fog is one of the most dangerous phenomena around the world. People once lost in this fog hardly reach their destination."
Captain Lux, the Gray Wolf of the association, the silver-haired captain of the raid team, seemed to be familiar with this gray fog.
Reddy was visibly nervous as she glared at it with a strange fear in her eyes.
She was trying to avoid looking at me, but I could tell she was worried about me.
I was going into that fog in a few minutes, and it worried her.
'She still doesn't seem to have remembered about the bonded connection we have.'
Well, good for me.
"The ghost spirits in that fog are dangerous, so not even those who can summon the fog are spared by it."
"In the first place, only the spirit creatures like the Naga or the Wraiths could survive inside of it. The fog affects even the undead."
The one thing that could resist or counter this dangerous power fog was the Holy power, and the person who could use the holy power was still recovering from the other fog that Reddy had created.
'She was from a noble house, and damn, she looked like she was from one.'
Unlike Cassiel, Miss Jasmin was from a lower noble house. However, her looks, the way she carried herself, her appearance and style, even her pretty looks and voice made her seem like someone from a rich family.
If she were in my previous world, she would be the princess of a large conglomerate. She had that noble princess vibe to her, but at the same time, she didn't have the arrogance that you often read about in the novels.
"Are you feeling better now, M'lady?" Captain Lux brought her back from the fog zone since we only needed her this time.
"Ughh…"
Reddy woke her up with a different potion, but she was still feeling dizzy, so we left her behind.
She was resting for the time being, so we were waiting for her to recover. Once she was done recovering, she was going to help us get through the fog with her holy power.
'I was the only one who'd go inside the fog since I needed to be a little closer to the barrier to dismantle it.'
Direct contact wasn't needed, but since the skill proficiency was still not high, there were restrictions. But thanks to the level up last time, I did not have to be in direct touch with something to dismantle it.
"I'm still a little dizzy, but I understand the situation. So, can she really help us deal with the fog?" Her voice was very sweet.
She was the same age as Reddy, so I found her to be pretty cute, but there was a certain doubt in those pretty pink eyes of hers.
"Can you really do that, Miss? That thing… looks pretty dangerous." She was hiding it, but her hands were obviously shaking.
It did not seem like she had much experience dealing with creatures like this, despite her fame. She was strong and skilled. But the opponent wasn't a simple creature.
From the looks of it, she was more sensitive to the three eyes looking at us right now.
"I can. I urge you to trust me on this like all of them." I patted her head, even though I wasn't supposed to do that to a noble.
I looked at Reddy and Captain Lux as I said that as well, and while their expression was distorted by what I had just done, Miss Jasmin saw the calmness in them.
Neither of them had seen my skills, but they were both aware of them.
'In the first place, the only reason we were dismantling the safe zone right now was due to the nature of the raid.'
Had we done that before the raid, the creature would have had enough time to prepare for the attack or even take over the entire first floor.
If it had expanded its territory, things would have become far more difficult for us. Thankfully, it did nothing like that.
As a Naga mother, she needed to provide nutrition and energy to her unborn eggs, so she could not waste her time on anything else.
The safe zone was their sanctuary as well as her boundary. As long as she was there, she could give as much as she could to her children.
If the end was certain, she wanted to leave her children with as much as she could. And for that, I respected her even more.
"I see…" From the looks of it, the noble lady was also convinced of my ability.
She could not see either the safe zone or the eggs because of the mist, and that was a good thing for us.
Now, if I can just deal with the mother and her eggs, we will have an easier time dealing with the bigger mess.
