The next morning Percy woke up, feeling good for the first time in a while. He stretched his back and rubbed his eyes, taking in his white tent. He didn't really remember coming in.
Last night was one long story time for the children as they went over the events of the last few days.
It was surprising to find out that everything that had happened took place in just a week. Once they found the Basker house things went off the rocker. The whole ordeal added an extra five days to their journey.
They would be arriving at Yarol the morning of the Spirit affinity ceremony. No time to even see the Count of Yarol or do any of the other noble activities. Which was bad because house Amphene was already a bit out of place.
The other houses were already looking to take Demetria or even usurp the Count of Yarol. So getting to know their enemies would have been nice before the ceremony.
Because afterwards they would be rushing back to Dema. The danger of Sion taking the Prosperity was gone but they still needed to make sure everything was okay.
It wasn't like he didn't trust Hecate and Lecetes, but if something was happening he'd like to be there. And he would like to set up the Spellcannons and start work using the Spellcore version two.
Now that he went through the temple of Gaia, he understood a bit more about how the old empire created their magical defenses. If he got back to Dema, he would be able to decipher how to use the magical defenses there.
After all, the city was built maybe around the time of the Heracles Empire, maybe even older than that, possibly going back to the time of this Athens civilization.
Athens was just a city-state in Earth's history, but in a world of gods and monsters he wouldn't be shocked to learn that Athens was bigger than the original. What he was worried about was how these places existed in this world and on Earth.
Did Nyx swindle me and just reincarnate me into the past?
Speaking of the beautiful goddess of night, he willed his system screen to pop up; he had a couple of things he wanted to check.
A black panel opened in front of his face, a string of white letters flowing over the game-like screen, displaying his stats, skills, and attributes.

His attributes took a big jump, at least after all that happened in the temple, but the biggest jumps were his spirit energy and intelligence.
Acting as the interface for the generator circle, working with the leyline and its immense energy.
All of this seemed to have helped his abilities grow a lot in a short amount of time. His spellcasting would take a massive leap, and with all his new spells it was neededl.

His Arete was severely falling behind in terms of attributes and number of skills. He needed to start begging Thalos to just teach him the first technique in the Blood Demon School.
He skipped quests first to look at his rewards. A tear almost fell from his eyes as the click-to-expand button disappeared.

He used up almost a year of customizable rewards that he had been saving.
It was enough to make a grown man cry. He needed to start completing more daily quests and maybe even rank up in either Spiritmancy or Arete, because he was more or less sure it would improve the rewards.
However, the sight of the second version of the Spellcore gave him a bit of excitement. It was something he spent a year researching for. Seeing the various types of circles in both the Basker house and the temple of Gaia helped a lot.
It made him even more eager to leave Yarol after the Spirit affinity ceremony. Yarol was somewhat enemy territory, mostly since he didn't know what deal the Count of Yarol and Hecate made behind the scenes.
Thalos wouldn't tell him, so he was left wondering what the relationship between Yarol and Dema was like.
Yeah, nothing will happen. We'll be in and out by the end of the day.
He didn't dare say that aloud to not set off a flag though. Instead, he checked his quests.
━━━━━━ ✦ Quests ✦ ━━━━━━
– Daily Quest: [ Create five Dirt clones (0/5) ]
– Optional Quests: [ None available ]
✧───────────────────────────✧
Five clones? That spell's pretty high cost. I'll be drained of spirit energy after four. If I meditate, I can refill my spirit energy in about ten minutes. It might take longer because my spirit energy stat increased though.
I'll create two now to go get me some water, then meditate and create two more later.
He clicked on optional quests. There were some very tasty rewards calling his name right now.
━━━━━━ ✦ Optional Quests ✦ ━━━━━━
– Complete the Second Version of the Spellcore (Given by Aether, Complete!): Your inventions continue to impress the god of possibilities. He humbly requests that your next version of the Spellcore improves on its conductivity to avoid burning the Aetherite conductor. Rewards: One Rank 4 customizable reward, twenty additional stat points.
– Find the Forgotten Temple (Given by Nyx, Complete): Find the forgotten Temple of Gaia and claim her inheritance. Not much to say here, but I'll speak directly. This will determine whether you return to Dema in ruin or not. Rewards: One Rank 5 customizable reward, fifty additional stat points.
✧────────────────────────────✧
Percy gulped just reading the two quests back to back. He had gained about a hundred stat points over the years. But right now, he was about to gain them instantly.
He'd be twice as strong as usual in an instant. He was already having some choice paralysis on where to even invest the stat points, or whether it'd be a good idea to save them and wait for a dire situation.
Like if he needed extra intelligence to control a particularly potent spell, or extra strength to keep up with a tough opponent.
I'll use sixty stat points on my strength, agility, constitution, and stamina. All of which will be useful for leveling up my Arete skills. Then just save the rest.
Now for the big boys.
One Rank 4 and Rank 5 customizable rewards.
These were absolutely the best rewards he had received in a while. He only had one other Rank 4 reward that Nyx had given him for curing diseases. He used that to create an entire building on the Crean River.
That was where he did most of his experiments. It had the tools and specialized equipment to help him create almost anything he needed. When he created the building, he infused it with a variety of special defensive circles too.
Rank 4 gave him so much material that he still had leftovers from all that to make a lot of version one Spellbolts.
He couldn't even imagine how much Rank 5 would even do.
[Do you want to collect your rewards?]
Yes, obviously.
Once they entered his reward storage, he closed his eyes and tried to touch the Rank 5 reward with his mind. This was how he could guess how much he could create with a reward.
The moment his mind glimpsed the scale of it, he froze.
After a long quiet moment, his mind returned and Percy exhaled a heavy breath. Slowly a small laugh rolled from him, which then turned into mad cackling.
"I can create a small city with this out of nowhere."
He imagined the looks on people's faces if he did such a thing. The memory of Nyx saying he could create a nuke with a Rank 5 reward came back to his mind.
This could create more than a few nukes. Heck, if he was determined with the economy of matter, he could use a Rank 4 reward to create a nuke.
He closed his eyes, breathing through his nose to calm down. His mad cackling had woken up the people in the other tents.
It was morning. He had to take a quick bath and get ready to go to Yarol. They would have to arrive dressed for the ceremony.
He got up, wincing a little from the soreness still lingering in his body. It wasn't enough to make it hard to move, but there was a way to avoid moving.
He reached outside his tent and touched the grassy soil outside. Then he closed his eyes to meditate and call on some spirits. Red, green, and brown dots of light appeared in the air around him, energetically dancing through the air.
Why are they so excited?
He shrugged and began chanting the clone spell that he had risked brain damage to reverse engineer.
"Humble son of the earth, and seeker of his mother's protection. Mirror of my flesh, born of earth's quiet breath, stand where I cannot, strike when I will not. Take my shadow, take my face, rise, and wear my name until you crumble."
