Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 148: There are people waiting for me

I heard a rather peculiar nickname about you," the purple-haired woman said, pushing her foot down my throat. "What was it, Charlie?"

"Those slaves called him Harbinger of the Dawn, ma'am," the long-haired man replied, sitting on the head of the hammer that was placed over my chest.

"Vi-Vivi, what's the realm of this woman?"

"Analysing the target's realm..."

"Analysis completed."

"The target is at the peak of first-stage Ascendant Sage realm."

"H-how could it be possible?" I gasped inwardly, already struggling to breathe as her foot choked me, reaching the very end of my throat.

"What a ridiculous title," the woman muttered, pulling her foot out.

"Koff-koff," I coughed hard, finally able to breathe.

"J-just five more seconds," I stammered inwardly.

The wound on my heart was slowly closing and my broken arm and ribs were about to be mended.

"Tsk, his gross saliva dirtied my shoes."

She landed a kick on my face, moved back, and sat on the chair again.

"How do you think the slaves of Forlorn City will react when they see their Harbinger's head decorated at the centre of the city?" Charlie asked with a wide smile.

"L..li.."

"Huh, you saying something, brat?"

"Lightning Bolt."

With the sudden movement of my hand, I slammed the lightning bolt onto the exact spot on the hammer where I'd struck before.

The crack on its head widened as it hurled back due to the impact.

Taking advantage of this momentum, I immediately used 'Blink' and decided to first strike the sniper who was targeting me from the farthest distance behind the purple woman.

With a trail of electric bolts, I vanished along with Vajra, which was placed on the ground beside me.

In a split second, a vertical golden arc appeared over the archer as Vajra pierced the air with a thunderous echo.

"Lightning Slash."

The moment my sword was about to slash the archer, who hadn't even noticed me coming yet, a sound of a finger flick rang out and with it appeared a wall of purple energy net between my blade and the archer.

"You can't stop me this time!" I shouted, tightening my grip as I let the blade descend.

The Lightning Slash cut right through the net and struck the archer's shoulder with a shallow cut.

"Aghh, I will kill you, bastard!" the archer snapped, holding his bleeding arm.

"Tsk, he dodged at the last mom—"

My feet had just landed on the ground when the net appeared again, binding my limbs.

The purple-haired woman—still sitting cross-legged on the chair with her face resting on one hand—curled the fingers of her other hand in a beckoning gesture.

The net stretched forward, pulling me closer to the woman.

She grabbed my face between her hands and asked, her expression confused, "You are clearly in a low-tier realm, so how did you cut my energy nets?"

"What do you want from me?" I asked, tensing my muscles to free myself from the bindings.

Her face laced with a faint smile, her tongue curled over her lips as she asked, "Don't you know it's basic courtesy to answer first if you want to get an answer from others?"

The bindings around my limbs tightened, forcing the blood out, as she asked again, "So tell me first, how did you cut my energy net?"

"I-I don't know," I muttered and mocked with a smirk. "Maybe because you're too weak, even though you're in a higher realm than me."

"You bastard, how dare you disrespect Madam Nyx!" Charlie shouted, bolting at me with his hammer.

"Stop, Charlie!" Nyx commanded.

My statement bulged the veins on Nyx's forehead. Her eyes narrowed as she snapped under her breath, "You've got a sharp tongue, boy."

"My blade is sharper—"

Shlick!

The energy threads that were wrapped around my wrists and ankles suddenly tightened, slicing my limbs like vegetables. My free body fell to the ground with a loud thud.

"Huff... huff..." I breathed heavily, suppressing my screams.

"How will you use your blade now?" Nyx asked, stepping on my head.

Seeing me motionless and unable to respond, she lost interest and leaned back in her chair. "I thought he might be a spy from the Mainland, but there's no way they would send someone this weak to fight us."

Taking a brief sigh, she ordered, "Finish him."

The archer, who had been waiting to hear these orders, gleamed with a wide smile, drew an arrow radiating with green energy, and shot it right at my temple.

"Alert! The face-changing mask is damaged.

Durability: 70%"

The arrow pierced through one side and only stopped after bulging out from the other.

"Alert! Host's body is in critical condition..."

"Blessing of Ruru activated."

"Alert! Host's limbs are completely severed. Regeneration will take a huge amount of Soulforce.

Vivi can use the bloodpath leading to Host's severed limbs to reattach them, which will consume less Soulforce.

Would you like to do it?

[Yes] [No]"

Due to the arrow in my brain, I couldn't think clearly. I was in no state to make any decision.

"Waiting for Host's response..."

"No response recorded. Continuing with the method by default."

The deer spirit slowly began pulling out the arrow; the blood trail that led to my severed limbs radiated with crimson energy as my limbs hovered into the air and returned to their original place.

"Would you look at that?" Nyx murmured, amused. "There's no way this brat is a human. He must be a monster from beyond the borders."

She folded her arms and continued, "Keep attacking him. He will eventually die when he runs out of Soulforce."

And just like that, they began slaughtering me like an animal.

Each time the arrow was pulled out, the archer would fire another arrow at the same place, while Charlie kept smashing my limbs again and again and again.

"Alert! 80% Soulforce remaining..."

"Alert! 70% Soulforce remaining..."

.

.

.

"Alert! 5% Soulforce remaining..."

"Warning!! The Host doesn't have enough Soulforce to activate Blessing of Ruru again.

If one more critical injury occurs, the Host will die."

"Wh-where does...things went wrong? Am I... gonna die... here?" I murmured inwardly as the deer spirit pulled out one more arrow from my head.

"No. Not like this. I can't die yet. Th-there are... people waiting for me."
