The moment I heard her voice, I instantly threw Vajra into the inventory and blurted, "I wasn't doing anything!"
"I understand that I was a bit late, but you shouldn't give the affection of my share to your sword," Ume murmured, getting second-hand embarrassment.
"Ughh, she saw me in an awkward position again," I screamed inwardly.
"Have you sealed the Soulforce of everyone?" I asked, trying to change the topic.
"Yes, I have. But it consumed more energy than I thought," she sighed, wiping the imaginary sweat from her forehead.
"I need to consume some Soul Stones to restore my Soulforce."
"Oh, you should have told me that you're out of Soul Stones," I replied, removing the space ring from my finger. "Here, take them."
"Dummy, I already have a hundred thousand kilograms of Soul Stones that you previously gave me," Ume sighed, rejecting the ring. "You will make me fat by feeding me so much."
"Hehe, I don't mind if you gain a few kilos," I replied with a sly smile. "I heard women with curvy figures birth healthy children."
My words sent an instant blush of roses across her cheeks. Her hands flew to her face, covering her adorably shy expression.
"Y-you are so shameless," she whined. "Who said I will have a baby with you!"
"Oh! So you don't want to have a baby. You want multiple babies?" I asked, teasing her further. "How many do you want? Five? Ten? Or twenty?"
"T… twe-twe-twenty!!??" She gasped, her eyes turning into circular coils. "H-how can we raise so many children—"
She immediately shut her mouth, realizing what she had just blurted. Her sudden remark made me shy as well. She wasn't bothered by the idea of having children with me; her mind was already imagining raising twenty of them simultaneously.
Before I could speak, she gave me a cute glare and hissed, "If you say any more nonsense, you will be sleeping on the sofa."
"Oh! Have I already reached this stage?" I thought inwardly but replied with a nod, obediently agreeing.
"I shall take the bath first; you may move to the bed," Ume said, walking toward the bathroom attached in the corner.
"Now that I think about it, I haven't showered either. We can bathe togeth—"
Before I could complete my statement, Ume had already shut the bathroom door with a bam.
"Sigh… I was just kidding," I chuckled, sitting on the chair beside the bed.
While she was in the shower, I checked the items in the space ring that Vyaghra had handed me.
Inside it, there was a diary and three rusted iron keys ranked from three to one. I drew out the diary, and when I opened it, Nyx's name was written on the front page.
It was an autobiography in which everything—from when she was five to the last day she waited in the forest—was written. It took me more than an hour to read the complete diary. Strangely, after reading it, I didn't hate her anymore.
She was an ambitious woman who chased a dream of leaving this land and did everything to achieve it, blurring the line between good or evil.
Other than her biography, there was information about the locations of the doors to which these three keys belonged. In the diary, she stated that no matter how much they killed the beasts inside those rooms, they kept regenerating relentlessly, and in the end, they just gave up.
"This is strange. The serpent in the Forlorn City mines didn't regenerate even once," I murmured, scratching my temple.
Ding…
"You have triggered the final act of the Main Quest: Secrets of the Abandoned Land.
Act III — The Finale: The El Dorado couldn't defeat the beasts beyond the three doors located below the three cities.
Kill the beasts and find out what they are protecting.
Reward on completion: Synchronisation of the Host's conscience with the other half-body.
Penalty on failure: Termination of the entire series."
"Wh-what does it mean to synchronise with the other half-body?" I asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
"The dimensional teleportation between worlds has been banned by higher beings. In order to not be detected by them, Vivi split the Host's body into two and teleported one half to Vyoman while the other half remained on Earth.
If the Host completes this quest, they may synchronise their consciousness with the body on Earth."
My whole being trembled to the core the moment I read the screen. I lost the strength in my legs and fell to the floor with a loud thud.
"R-Raj! Are you alright!?" Ume shouted, rushing toward me.
"I-I can return to Earth if I complete this quest…" I murmured to myself, still in a daze.
Ume grabbed me by the arm and dragged me toward the bed, placing me there.
She tapped my cheeks lightly in succession, trying to wake me.
"Raj… Raj… what happened?"
My eyes finally shifted to Ume, whose voice was almost cracking from worry.
"I-I'm fine, Ume," I replied, pulling myself together. "I was feeling exhausted because of the battle, so I suddenly blacked out."
"Dummy, I told you to rest," she nagged, almost on the verge of tears. "You gave me a heart attack."
"Sorry for worrying you, sweety," I replied, patting her head.
She fell onto my chest, embracing me tightly without saying anything.
"Ume, I'm not clean right now. Let me take a shower first."
"I don't care. I won't let you move from the bed. Stay right here."
"Baby, I'm really fine. I won't collapse again. Promise."
Releasing a reluctant groan, she rose from my body and sat beside me on the bed.
"Don't lock the bathroom door," she ordered firmly.
"As you wish, my lady."
I gave her an assuring smile and entered the bathroom.
"Vivi, what will happen to this body if my consciousness enters the body on Earth?"
"This vessel will enter a deep trance. All higher functions will temporarily shut down, leaving only the essentials—breath, heartbeat, and the minimum activity needed to keep you alive. It will appear dormant but stable until your consciousness returns."
"Can I freely shift my consciousness from this body to the body on Earth?"
"The reward for the quest will only let you enter the consciousness of the vessel on Earth. It is possible that your consciousness might never return to the current body."
