Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 179: Don't trust the words of strangers

"What happened to your appearance, nyah?" Feralin asked, peeking from behind Vyrion. "Is this your original face or the one before?"

"This is not important right now," Vyrion groaned before extending a space ring toward me.

"This contains all the details you asked for."

I grabbed the ring and scanned the files inside it.

"Is this reliable?"

"I stole it from Theon's tent. It was based on this information that all the awakeners were assigned to their tasks."

"Night, I need a table large enough so all four of us can sit around it," I ordered, turning to Vyaghra.

With a slight wave of his hand, a table and four chairs made of dark energy emerged from the ground on the platform.

I pulled the file of thousands of pages from the ring, divided them into three equal sets, and placed them on the table.

"I want you all to read them and separate the files accordingly into three sections: safe, moderate, and execute. Write the conclusion at the end of each document, mentioning the reason for the same."

The three gods seemed confused hearing my peculiar order, but once they began reading the documents, they understood what I meant.

While they were at it, I drew Vajra from the inventory and moved to the open area beside the raised platform.

"Vyrion, grab the files and form the line of the prisoners accordingly."

Following my order with a mixed reaction, he grabbed the documents and began calling the awakeners, forming three lines before the three sections on the table.

It took more than five hours to sort out all the documents. There were 211 prisoners gathered before the safe section, 557 in the moderate section, while the execute section had 982 prisoners.

"The rest of the people are either dead or injured too critically to be present here," Vyrion said as he formed the final line.

Vyrion's whole group was placed in the safe line.

"What is he trying to do?"

"What else? Since he won the war, he will use us like Nyx did."

"Hehehe, let's ask for twice the amount of what Nyx gave us. Since we are all together, he won't be able to deny us."

"I will demand at least the position of the watchman of a mine if he wants to recruit me. I'm at late-stage Spirit Warrior after all."

The prisoners standing before the execute section whispered and mumbled things they thought I couldn't hear, filling the area with their delusional remarks.

Ignoring them, I ordered,

"Vyrion, now turn to the last page of the files in the execute section and announce the conclusion written on it."

His eyes widened, and a bead of sweat trickled down his face as he read the content.

"A-are you really going to do it?"

"Don't question me, Vyrion. You are just a prisoner here," I said, my sharp eyes glaring at him.

Taking a gulp, he announced in a loud voice, "Lucas Brown! Banished from the mainland for sexually assaulting his own sister and killing her!"

"Haha. That's me!" the man at the line's front laughed. "And let me tell you, I enjoyed every bit of it."

Several laughs followed from the people lined behind him as he grinned horrendously.

"My lady, unseal his Soulforce," I said, turning to Ume.

With a flick of Ume's finger, a pink energy emerged from Lucas' stomach and vanished as it radiated outward.

"Come forth," I ordered Lucas, my visage unreadable.

He moved arrogantly toward the open area with a smug look on his face.

"What do you want me to do for you? And how much are you gonna offer me?"

Ignoring his arrogant question, I asked Vyrion, "Isn't there anything else written on the file?"

"Y-yes, there is," he stammered nervously before reading the file in a loud voice, "For this unforgivable crime, the punishment Lucas shall face is… death!"

"Huh! D-did I hear it correctly?" Lucas stuttered, stepping back.

The crowd was equally shocked hearing the announcement.

"Th-there's no way you will kill an awakener for a mere crime like this. I can do so many tasks that normal humans can't, so—"

Thud!

Before he could complete his sentence, his severed head rolled on the ground in one clean cut with the swing of my sword.

"H-he just killed him!"

"Are we also gonna die?"

"N-no way!"

A wave of despair surged through the prisoners, while the ones lining before the execute section were utterly horrified.

"Vyrion, announce the conclusion of the next file."

My firm voice echoed as I wiped the blood from my blade.

"Y-yes!" Vyrion, who was still in a daze after what had just happened, picked the next document.

He was about to read the conclusion, but then the awakeners before the execute line turned restless and bolted toward the exit in horror.

"No way I will stay here to be slaughtered like an animal!"

"Th-that monster is merciless!"

"We can't even defend ourselves due to this damned seal!"

The moment they grabbed the handle of the gate, a blur of flame erupted from their bodies, burning them into ashes.

More than fifty of them instantly died, while the remaining dropped to the ground, realizing there was no way to escape.

"Oh, so you marked them as well?" I asked, turning to the three gods.

"You should thank Night for him. He marked them so none could run away," Ume replied.

"I was just performing my duty, Your Majesty," Vyaghra responded firmly.

"Pl-please have mercy, Sir Morningstar!"

"We will change our ways and won't harm anyone again!"

"I will even take the Soul Oath to become better!"

"Me as well!"

The prisoners pleaded desperately, kneeling before me.

"My lady, release the seal of all of them and instead seal my Soulforce so I can't use my abilities."

Without showing a hint of doubt at my strange order, Ume drew a couple of hand signs in succession, lifting the seal from all of them. After a moment, several plum blossoms coiled around my body and submerged into my skin.

"Are you still afraid of dying without putting up a fight?" I asked the kneeling prisoners.

In an instant, their faces gleamed with devilish smiles, and they bolted at me with intense bloodlust.

"Hah! Overestimating yourself and underestimating us!"

"Hahaha! Like hell I would change my ways for you!"

"Dieee!"

As soon as they reached closer, lightning flickered from my body, and a bright golden energy wrapped around the blade of Vajra.

"Sword Aura: Lightning Slash!"

A humongous arc of lightning emerged from the motion of blade and sliced every last one of the prisoners who had sprinted at me into two.

"B-but wasn't your… Soulforce… sealed?"

Releasing a lazy sigh, I murmured, my voice laced with disappointment,

"Didn't your parents teach you not to trust the words of strangers?"
