Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 181: A teleportation array

"Where is Vyaghra?" I asked, reaching the outside of the castle where Ume sat on the ground absorbing Soulforce from the Soul Stones.

"He isn't feeling well, so I sent him to rest," Ume stated.

"Is something wrong with him? It seemed quite serious."

"His power is somewhat unique, so we have to make sure that he doesn't lose control over it."

"So even gods have problems controlling their power," I murmured, sitting beside her.

"We aren't much different from mortals except for the fact that we can use the laws of divinity," Ume replied before shifting her focus back to meditation.

I also took the lotus position beside her and began consuming the Soulforce from the Stones I had stored in my inventory.

---

"Ume, I'm thinking of visiting the other cities and abolishing the slave system there as well," I said, rising to my feet after filling my core to the brim.

She looked at me for a couple of seconds before replying, "Your real purpose must be to fight the beasts behind the gate locked by those numbered keys."

"What! How did you know that?" I gasped in shock. "You're even reading my mind now."

Without replying to the obvious, she let out a brief sigh and said, "The cities are very far from each other. It will take you months to travel to all of them without using Soulforce."

"Hmm, I can't waste much time here. We've already spent four months in these lands. I guess I have no choice but to use Blink to shorten the distance, even if it consumes a few hundred thousand Soul Stones to replenish my Soulforce."

Ume flicked her finger, forming a circular tornado of plum blossoms with us at the center of it.

"Besides the keys and diary that Vyaghra handed you, we also found two other objects," Ume revealed as the two of us teleported to the forest outside the city.

In front of us, a large circular metallic device with multiple interlocked rings was placed on the ground. On the side of it, a man-sized metallic pole was embedded, connected to the metallic stage.

At the center of the pole was a hole in which a fist-sized stone radiating an overwhelming energy was suspended mid-air.

"What is this thing, Ume?" I asked, curious.

"This is a replica of the Divine Gateway Formation, a teleportation array that I created one millennia ago," Ume stated. "It must have become such a widely used array technique that it even ended up in places with no Soulforce."

"Whoah, how far can we teleport using this?"

"If it were the original one, we could have even teleported to the Main Land, but since this is just a copy, we can only travel to the three cities."

"Is this array also one of the seven great arrays that Theon mentioned?"

"I'm not familiar with that title," Ume replied.

"The people of this era must be using these titles for powerful arrays."

"Well, the important part is how we can activate it."

Ume moved to the pole where the strange stone was placed and explained, "To activate this array, a similar array must also be placed at the destination.

The array that I designed absorbed Soulforce from the surroundings to activate itself, but since there is no Soulforce here, they must be using this High-Tier crystal as the source of energy."

"High-Tier!" I exclaimed, moving closer to the crystal. "Do all High-Tier crystals radiate this overwhelming energy?"

"This is only a Grade 3 High-Tier crystal, which has already consumed more than half of its Soulforce."

"But didn't Theon say that no High-Tier crystal was found in any of the cities? So where did they get this?"

"These Soulforce-rich materials and this stone don't belong in the Abandoned Land," Ume revealed. "Someone from the Main Land must have given these to El Dorado."

"I wonder where they obtained the stone."

"Nyx also used this same stone to temporarily increase her Soulforce and break the array," Ume revealed.

"Oh, so this was how they destroyed the array!"

"Precisely. Else, with their current strength, they couldn't even make a dent in my array," Ume scoffed before ordering, "wait for a moment."

In an instant, she vanished from the area, and after a couple of minutes, appeared again with her usual spiral of blossoms. However, this time, Jambavan and Vyrion's group were also with her.

"Huh! What are you guys doing here?" I asked.

"We will also go with you to make sure you won't do anything foolish," Ume declared.

"You are sounding like an adult babysitting a rebellious kid with some bodyguards to make sure he won't create any trouble," I groaned.

"You cannot be more correct," Ume replied, her arms folded.

The group giggled seeing me treated like this, while Jambavan was throwing daggers at me with his eyes for the move I pulled on him in the underground village.

Realising the reluctant expression on my face, Ume declared with a firm voice, "Either we will go with you, or you aren't going anywhere."

"Ughh! Fine-fine, do it as you wish," I muttered and moved towards the centre of the array with heavy steps.

"Hohoho~ So even Sir Morningstar is helpless before his woman," Vyrion murmured smugly.

"Shh! Shut your meouth, he is already pissed!" Feralin hissed, her hand flying to Vyrion's mouth.

"Everyone enter the array," Ume ordered reaching beside me.

Once everyone reached the centre, Ume extended her hand and poured her Soulforce into the stone. The patterns on the pole glowed, and soon the energy reached the array, and all the rings began glowing with intense white.

After a moment, huge cylindrical walls erupted from the array from its boundary. The vision before us distorted, all the sounds felt distant, and it felt like my brain was being shaken violently.

The phenomenon went on for several minutes and finally stopped as the energy walls began dissipating.

"Bleurgh!" Gajendra and Jambavan vomited.

"No matter how many times Ay use it, Ay can never get used to this damned teleportation," Jambavan groaned.

"Although it's the first time for me, I don't think I can get used to it as well, hrmmm," Gajendra added, wiping his dirty face.

While the two were complaining, I had already shifted my focus towards the city a few miles away from the forest where we were teleported.
