Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 264: Awakened Sage

"Initialising Host's request…"

The large circular inventory portal above me began trembling as a dim humming sound echoed from it. Its colour changed from abyssal black to dazzling white, lighting up the field around me.

In a few seconds, the tremors in the portal intensified, and then, with a booming sound, a tall pillar of energy surged upward. The incandescent pillar pierced the heavens, its zenith releasing energy in expanding rings that rippled outward through the sky

"I'm glad I moved to this remote location," I sighed in relief. "I can already imagine the faces people would have made if they saw this spectacle."

At the tip of the dazzling pillar, violent clouds—thundering with lightning—began gathering. The clouds were thick and black, and unlike the ones summoned when I unleashed Lightning Decree, these flickered with lightning of different colours—red, blue, green, and yellow.

The wind turned savage, as though a storm loomed just beyond the horizon. Each thunderclap sent icy shivers down my spine. The earth trembled beneath my feet, the air grew suffocatingly heavy, and the sky roared in unrestrained fury.

It felt like the world itself was about to collapse.

Nevertheless, the storm inside me had become equally terrifying. The Sea of Soulforce, which had calmed down, began rising again. Violent waves of the Yin-Yang sea struck the shores of the rocky mountain that stood as an unwavering and unyielding wall inside me.

The dazzling pillar of energy emerging from the inventory portal slowly diminished. The inventory vanished from above my head without any order given by me, while the catastrophic clouds in the sky still remained—each roar more deafening than the previous one.

Ding…

"The clouds of Heavenly Tribulation have been successfully summoned!

To successfully break through to the Mid-Tier Realm, the Host must survive four Heavenly Tribulations. Each strike will be several times deadlier than the previous one. The Host must stay conscious and immovable during the Heavenly Tribulation. Attempting to move or run away midway, or losing consciousness, will cause incalculable damage to the body—resulting in crippling injuries or, in the worst case, death."

"Hah! I have suffered worse," I scoffed, my arrogant voice laced with defiance.

The violent waves of the Yin-Yang sea inside me soon transformed into a towering tsunami—far more cataclysmic and violent than any tsunami I had experienced during my previous breakthroughs.

Slowly, a holographic window appeared before my eyes with a message that felt completely out of character for Vivi.

"All the best!"

The message honestly took me aback. Just as it disappeared, a mind-boggling roar followed.

KRAKABOOOM!

Without any warning, bone-crushing lightning fell upon me, several colours of bolts flashing before my eyes. In a heartbeat, my tuxedo and the layers of bandages clinging to my body disintegrated into nothing, like fragile paper erased by an atomic explosion.

The Heavenly Tribulation didn't just strike my physical body but also the rocky mountain inside my Sea of Soulforce. The sheer destruction carried by the Tribulation blasted the mountain apart, crumbling it into pieces.

However, to my surprise, the path for the sea wasn't opened. Instead, the rocky mountain revealed a colossal metallic gate from within—its height reaching the sky. One door emitted eerie black energy, while the other exuded a calming white aura.

The towering tsunami slammed into the gate, the impact shaking me to my very core. Yet, the gate remained immovable against the devastating force.

"Is this the gate to the Mid-Tier Realm?" I muttered with a smirk, my blackened body still flickering with remnants of the strike.

Although the Tribulation was earth-shattering, it wasn't as painful as I had expected. Honestly, the burning agony I endured while healing myself in Amrita Water was on a completely different level.

While the Yin-Yang sea rampaged within my dantian, the tumultuous clouds above were already preparing for the second Tribulation.

The coloured lightning gathered at the centre above my head, and with another deafening roar, it descended.

KRAKABOOOM!

The ground beneath me split apart, forming a crater. Every strand of hair—on my head, face, and body—was burned to ashes. The intensity this time was twice, perhaps even three times, more brutal than the previous Tribulation, yet it still wasn't enough to force a groan from my mouth.

The Tribulation once again reached the Sea of Soulforce and struck the Yin-Yang gate standing in place of the rocky mountain.

The moment the lightning struck the gate, at the exact same instant, another towering tsunami slammed into it. This time, the Yin-Yang gate couldn't remain unfazed. It opened ever so slightly, and I felt a sudden surge of Soulforce within me.

"This feels awesome! Hurry up! Bring the next one," I exclaimed inwardly, my body still in the lotus position, immobile at the centre of the crater.

For the third Tribulation, the clouds began gathering above my head, forming a swirling abyssal hollow cylinder. The depths of the vortex shimmered with bolts of colourful lightning that were accumulating within.

This time, I could sense it. The Tribulation would be far more severe than the previous ones. As I felt the lightning about to befall, I clenched my teeth, preparing myself for the strike.

KRAKABOOOM!

The shock, as I had predicted, was several times greater than the previous Tribulations. My eyebrows, which were already burnt, twitched as a jolting surge of electricity swept through my body. Numerous burn marks appeared on my bare skin, and I could already feel various hairline fractures forming in my bones.

The collision of lightning at the Yin-Yang gate, combined with the relentless assault of the devastating tsunami, forced the gate to open slightly, emitting a thin line of light from the other side.

"This one is going to be troublesome," I muttered, sensing the bone-chilling energy gathering in the sky.

The spiral cylinder of black clouds began enlarging, its diameter already stretching several hundred metres. At the black-hole-like centre of the spiral, a colourful and violent energy began glowing.

"Here it comes!" I murmured, my eyes shutting as my entire body stiffened in preparation for the final Tribulation.

KRAKABOOOM!

The strike was completely off the charts. The ground beneath me cracked open, turning the entire wasteland into a massive crater. Dust and debris blasted outward, while the trees at the edge of the land were torn from the ground and flung away like ragdolls.

The moment the strike landed, several of my bones shattered instantly. Blood gushed from my mouth, and a faint—nearly negligible—groan escaped my lips.

I had endured far more gruesome, grotesque, and unbearable agony before—against which this Tribulation felt no more than a whip striking the hand.

As soon as the lightning of the fourth Tribulation struck the Yin-Yang gate along with the crashing tsunami, the gate burst open, allowing the violent sea of Soulforce to surge forward.

Slowly, my body lifted off the ground, defying gravity. An ominous dark aura radiated from one side, covering the land below in bone-chilling ice sheets, while blazing white energy erupted from the other half, scorching the soil beneath.

My shattered bones began repairing themselves, becoming even sturdier than before. The burn marks on my skin vanished. My black hair regrew longer and shinier than ever, cascading all the way down my back. My eyelashes and eyebrows sprouted in perfect symmetry. The muscles across my body became inhumanly flawless, as though sculpted by the gods themselves.

Ding…
