Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 90: Reached the Border

When Nymeria and I were going through metamorphosis, the four beast gods didn't rest for a moment. They stayed beside the pond for the whole month, either meditating or observing us.

Now that our evolution had been completed successfully, everyone was relieved and wanted to rest. Nymeria and Ume went inside the tree house, while Vyaghra, Jambavan, Ruru, and I lay beside the bonfire under the open sky.

The three of them dozed off the moment they closed their eyes. I, however, was still awake. Why? Because I was too excited to fall asleep yet.

"Vivi, open the home screen."

"Holy shit! All of my stats have doubled," I shouted inwardly. "My physical body is even stronger than it was when I used the Blessing of Jambavan back then."

The improvements metamorphosis made to my body were unbelievable, but what stunned me even more was the realization that these changes came from only 2% bone manifestation and 1% flesh and blood manifestation.

"How strong will my physical body become once it's 100% manifested?" The thought alone sent chills and excitement through me.

After admiring my stats for a few minutes, my focus shifted to a new term: Realm.

"Vivi, what realm is this Middle-stage Ascendant?"

"This is the realm the Host obtained after successfully merging the core with the body."

"Vivi, what benefit does the core provide me?"

"The core is responsible for the evolution of the Host into his true form."

"True form? I wonder what that would be. Vivi, can I still use Soulforce if my core is accidentally destroyed?"

"Yes. However, the Host's evolution would be permanently halted the moment it happens."

"Fair enough. Also, tell me what realm I'll obtain after this one."

"This is the access to the Realm's knowledge the Host currently possesses with their authority:

1. Awakener Realm

2. Ascendant Realm

3. Essence Realm

4. Transcendent Realm

5. Celestial Realm

6. Divine Ascendant Realm."

"So my hunch was correct. Nymeria and I really got a power system of our own," I murmured. "Nymeria mentioned that her realm changed to Late-stage Essence Realm. If I consider the power system of humans, she was previously at the early stage of the fourth realm but now she's at the late stage of the third one. She's gonna be mad when she finds out."

While I was skimming through the screen, my brain, which had been ignoring the most basic change in myself, finally noticed it, releasing an impulsive gasp from my mouth. "I've turned 22???"

"So it's already been seven months since I arrived here," I whispered. "Mother, brother, are you doing well?"

I raised my hand to the sky as the pain of longing filled my heart.

Slurp... Slurp...

A tongue suddenly licked my hand.

"Ruru, did I wake you?" I asked.

She sat beside me and warmly brushed her face against mine.

"Ruru, I miss my family. I want to go home," I murmured as I fell asleep hugging her.

---

"Should we wake him?" Nymeria's soft, feminine voice filled my ears.

"Yes, it's already time to move," another melodious voice echoed. This sweet voice was definitely Ume's.

"You are right. Wake him, then."

"Huh? Why me?"

"I can't bear to wake him when he's looking so adorable while sleeping."

"So can't I, Sister Nym. He looks like a baby."

Sigh... "How nice it would've been if his personality also matched his face."

A hand gently traced my forehead, brushing my hair.

"What's wrong with my personality, you little hamster?" I said as I grabbed Nymeria's hand, which was caressing my hair.

As I opened my eyes, I found Nymeria and Ume sitting to my left and right while I was lying on the ground.

"F-for how long were you awake?" Nymeria stammered, her face turning red.

"From the moment you two were stealing glances at me," I chuckled with a smug grin.

"How dare you accuse me of such a disgraceful crime?" Ume blurted, quickly standing up.

"What crime? There's nothing wrong in adoring your betrothed," I replied with a smirk.

"Sister Nym is right. Your personality is the opposite of your charming face," she snapped, walking away with an overflowing blush on her face.

"What's your explanation, little hamster?" I asked, turning my face to Nymeria, her wrist still in my hand.

"We weren't stealing glances. You were just dreaming," Nymeria blurted, snatching her hand away. "And don't call me hamster; I look nothing like one."

"You're wrong there, pretty lady. You're small, plumpy, and cute like a hamster," I replied, pushing myself to a standing position.

"Did you just call me short and fat?" she snapped.

"Always trying to find negatives in compliments," I sighed. "That's a typical woman for you."

"Is calling someone a hamster when they look nothing like one a compliment now?" she countered, putting both her hands on her waist as she stood in front of me with a puffed face, barely reaching my shoulders.

"Alright, alright, I was in the wrong," I mumbled, patting her head before walking toward Ume.

"Ume, you said it's time to move," I called. "Where are we going?"

"Where else? We're leaving the forest," she replied.

"Really?" I exclaimed. "Finally, it's time to leave."

As we exited the Fifth Zone, I noticed Vyaghra, Jambavan, and Ruru were nowhere to be seen.

"Where is the trio?" I asked.

"They have already left," Ume responded. "The barrier I cast on the forest was a cage to keep us here. People can enter freely but can't escape. I sent them in advance to find the weakened points in the barrier."

"Can't you just remove the seal?"

"If I truly had that strength, you wouldn't have pinned me down so easily that night. When I woke, my realm had already fallen to Lesser Soul Beast. I merely used the time you were undergoing transformation to recover to Late-stage Greater Soul Beast," she sighed, then spoke further, "Yet it's not sufficient to remove the seal completely. So, we will open a small gate in the barrier to escape."

After the explanation, the three of us picked up the pace and took about half a day to reach the First Zone.

"They have found it," Ume announced. "Follow me."

We followed her for another half an hour before reaching the location where Jambavan, Ruru, and Vyaghra stood.

"Greetings, Your Majesty," Jambavan and Vyaghra greeted in unison.

"We've found the weakened point you deliberately left to escape," Vyaghra said, pointing forward.

I was confused. There was nothing out of the ordinary in front of us. The forest seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see in all directions.

"Why can't I see the barrier?" I asked curiously.

"Try to move forward," Vyaghra replied.

The moment I did, something suddenly hit my forehead, and I fell on my back.

"Haha, this is the illusion barrier cast by Her Majesty. We have already reached the end of the forest."

I pulled myself to standing position and murmurred with a faint smile on my face,

"So beyond this lies the unknown world of Vyoman. Let's see what it can offer me."
