The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife

Chapter 931: Strange Request

"Haha, didn't expect you to be so gutsy, not afraid of death at all." The woman in black fiddled with the dagger in her hand, waving it in front of the Soul Destroyer.

"If it weren't for the Boss, I'd be dead long ago. You can kill me, but one day, the Boss will kill you to avenge me." Soul Destroyer looked tough as iron, seeming prepared for a 'heroic sacrifice.' But he misunderstood; the woman in black actually needed him and wouldn't kill him.

"If it weren't for me saving you today, you'd be dead there. Saving you counts as sincerity, doesn't it?" The woman in black sneered, sat down slowly, her face hidden by a veil, so Soul Destroyer couldn't see her smile, but could imagine its intriguing nature.

"Hey, lady, I was already escaping, wasn't I? You stopped me." Soul Destroyer was bewildered, he was almost out when she appeared and blocked his way, then brought him here. Now she's claiming to have saved him—it's not 'the thief crying, "Stop thief!"'?

"Don't be ungrateful. They know your background, how could they only send gunmen to kill you."

"You mean... they've sent cultivator assassins?"

"Obviously. I helped clear out the assassins on the perimeter for you, doesn't that count as help?"

"Alright, that counts." Soul Destroyer said indifferently, suddenly raising his volume, "Wait a minute, who's to say you're not lying to me?"

"Do you want me to bring their bodies to show you?" Her voice was cold, chilling to the bone.

"Forget it, that's too blatant."

"Alright, what cooperation do you want to talk about? Hurry up, I need to find my team." Soul Destroyer turned his head impatiently. The woman slowly walked over and pinched his chin, forcibly turning him back.

"The cooperation is simple, I can help with all your difficulties, and you can't refuse."

"Wait, you're just helping me?" Soul Destroyer interrupted her. Since someone was offering help for free, that's good, but would a normal person do this? There's no benefit without reason, as a 'benefit-oriented' creature, who would help others for no reason?

"Of course, there are conditions."

"That's more like it." Soul Destroyer remarked indifferently. If it were truly free help, then he should be cautious. With conditional exchange, he could listen.

"I want to join you."

"What, say that again."

"I want to join you, that is, join the Netherworld Palace." The woman in black repeated impatiently.

"You want to join the Netherworld Palace, just that... nothing else?" Soul Destroyer couldn't believe his ears, joining the Netherworld Palace was not that simple—why such a big fuss?

"Yes, it's that simple." She said solemnly.

"You want to join us, that's just a word, not this much effort." Soul Destroyer couldn't help but complain, "Almost got me killed."

"Aren't you an iron man, why so scared now?" The woman in black suddenly chuckled.

"If I knew you were just after this, why so much effort? Fine, I agree." Soul Destroyer quickly said.

"Hand over the antidote to detoxify me."

"Wait a minute, I have one more condition," she continued, unperturbed. Soul Destroyer wasn't surprised; of course, the key would be at the end. It wouldn't be so simple, after doing so much just to join the Netherworld Palace, she must have other demands.

"I figured, go ahead."

"My status must be above yours." Her words were shocking. Soul Destroyer was already one of the four generals of the Netherworld Palace. While the four were equally titled, there was still a slight hierarchy. Nightmare had the strongest combat power, while the Ghost was like the 'think tank' of Netherworld Palace, essentially the second in command. If her status were above Soul Destroyer, she'd be on par with Ghost.

"What, you must be crazy." Soul Destroyer couldn't help but shout.

"Shut up, what are you yelling for?" She came over and slapped him hard.

"How is that possible."

"Why not? Your life is in my hands, dare you not agree?"

"What good is my agreement? Without Boss's consent, my agreement is useless." Soul Destroyer was truthful. Besides, she just entered the Netherworld Palace, with no reputation. Even if Ye Shikai agreed, the subordinates might not comply.

"You just need to sign this." She pulled out an agreement from behind, handing it to Soul Destroyer. It essentially required him to unconditionally agree to place her status above his and follow her orders at any time.

He hesitated, loyal to Ye Shikai. Though she claimed to want to join the Netherworld Palace, he felt she was pressing him to acknowledge her dominance. If this agreement were shown to Ye Shikai, it'd be akin to a 'letter of defection.' His instincts told him not to sign.

"Quickly sign, what are you waiting for."

"Well... let me think about it." He said hesitantly, noticing a change in her expression, her body moved swiftly, her small hand grabbing his wrist. Unable to use inner strength, he was at her mercy. A flash came by, and a blade appeared in her hand, lightly brushing his finger...

"Alright, that'll do," She looked at the blood drop on the signature line, seemingly satisfied.

"Now... can you give me the antidote?"

She took out a small bottle from her pocket, tossed it over. He didn't hesitate, swallowed the pill directly, and then felt a continuous surge of inner strength from the Dantian, filling the meridians; his face slightly flushed, he was restoring his inner strength.

"We'll go downstairs and get in the car soon, I need to go to your base." She said coldly, pulling out a car key from her pocket, throwing it onto the coffee table.

"Aren't you staying here?"

"I killed their people, they won't let this slide. This place will be compromised soon. Conversely, Netherworld Palace has many bases here, and they're well hidden."

"Fine, but you must swear not to harm Netherworld Palace's interests." He blocked the door, signaling her to swear, or he wouldn't let her leave.

"Of course, since I'm now part of the Netherworld Palace, I won't betray you." She agreed readily.
