"Hm?" Wei Wuyin felt a dao blessing vibrate within his cells, instinctively causing him to touch the region before him as a faint belt exuding a simple, gentle, and all-encompassing aura—the aura of the Mortal Dao. Was his Idol of the Stellar Paragon partially activating? It felt almost reactive, yet he couldn't locate any cause by keen instinct or his acute senses.
'How curious. Could it be the possible Inheritor performing a spell or divination art? But why just one blessing?' As Wei Wuyin theorized the potential possibilities, Su Yi was struggling as Chu Xing's eyes were wide, her mouth was agape, and her heart throbbed furiously!
She just witnessed Paradoxical Correction by the Keeper of Time! As a Resonant Soul Realm cultivator, her Resonant Soul could retain her memories despite eradication by the Keeper of Time, solely due to her spiritual, mental, and existential tethering to her Microheaven. She was unable to reconcile what had just happened.
Meanwhile, Su Yi was fighting the erasure of temporal presence. As a cultivator who grasped the Minor Authority of Time, he had a unique resistance that other True Sage or True Soul cultivators were unable to possess. They would inevitably be subjected to memory erasure and correction, seeing the eliminated individual as a vague, shadowy figure that was left to be filled by them.
For him specifically, the figure that was erased throughout temporal flows was transformed into a friendly ferryman with sinister intentions, someone he didn't trust or care about much. This reflected reality, staying emotionally consistent and causing no damage to his memories or feelings.
Eventually, his Minor Authority blossomed with temporal light as his Soul Energy was consumed rapidly. The Minor Authority wasn't snatching his memories back or trying to keep them. No—the Minor Authority within him had sent over a soul request to the Heavenly Realm of Time Law, sending it off to the Keeper of Time for review.
The request?
"May I keep my memories, please?"
The difference in authority was akin to a salaried worker seeking a promotion or time off from their indifferent boss.
Normally, Su Yi would be denied. They all would. The Minor Authority was just not high enough to grant such a request, but as a Blessed, he was given priority and assisted by the Heavenly Daos. Due to this special identity, the Keeper of Time granted his request.
Su Yi's Temporal Eye experienced a great surge of cooling relief from a great pressure, allowing him to retain memories without any correction. The expended soul energy left him pallid and heaving. When he lifted his gaze, the chaos had more or less been drained to an unknown location of time by the Keeper of Time. It was unintentional, but the chaos from a Resonant Soul detonation interfered with the Paradoxical Correction, so it had to be dealt with.
Something that would have plagued the Utmost Purity Galaxy's border region had been inadvertently solved by a Resonant Soul Realm cultivator's corrective erasure by a divine-like manifestation of a primordial force.
As for Wei Wuyin, he experienced no correction of any kind. There was no need to issue a request; he was directly avoided by the erasure and corrective force from the Keeper of Time.
This wasn't due to his mutated Major Authority, albeit his request for exclusion would have been approved on this basis.
This wasn't due to his status as a Blessed Empyrean, albeit his request for exclusion would have been expedited to the maximum and directly approved on this basis.
This wasn't due to his three blessings of the great daos, his Stellar Paragon Physique, his Alchemic Stars of Unparalleled Creation, the existence of Magus or Eden, albeit they would have allowed him to resist any mental erasure by various traits.
This was solely due to his existence as a True Void Dragon! A metaphysical bloodline-born hybrid that was both a Time Dragon and a Spatial Dragon, yet neither, and considerably more encompassing in its domain! Entities of time were descendants blessed indirectly by the River of Time, so they could outright ignore many temporal restrictions or lethal paradoxes.
The White Abyss was largely overcome, treated as a mere gentle breeze accompanied by a stroll, due to Wei Wuyin's incredible affinity to time and space. The sheer ability to generate a paradoxical event without consequence was also due to this!
The Cyclic-Dawn Abjuration Art was fantastical, a one-of-a-kind that incorporated the essential power of four Astral Souls with Kratos at the lead, able to achieve a long thought impossible artificial feat: Creating Paradoxes!
At least, doing so and surviving after!
Su Yi and Chu Xing were aghast. They were the only living beings, including Yijun Meng, who saw Wei Wuyin unleash his Ascension Art. They were unable to settle down their stormy minds and raging hearts. What type of profound art was that?! Did he summon the Keeper of Time to kill his target?!
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FU-
"You should go back now or leave. Those who seek my attention have it," Wei Wuyin warned as the Mystic Runic Sphere began to orbit him, shining with sporadic outbursts of pure mystical light. He decided to investigate the cause of the activation of his Belt of Mortal Virtue later, especially since it only appeared for the briefest of moments before going dormant.
"Your attention?" Su Yi was taken aback. Perhaps that's what they wanted, but…will they really want it in the next few minutes? Staring at the lofty, imperial majesty emanating from Wei Wuyin, he couldn't help but feel like chaos was bound to rain upon the galaxy. He took a deep inhale followed by a heavy exhale, sending spiritually: "Beware of those hiding in the shadows. They are likely to only bite after their prey is caught on their webs."
This was the only vague warning he gave, causing Wei Wuyin to give him a sidelong glance.
Wei Wuyin scoffed lightly. Su Yi grabbed Chu Xing and fled. Not toward the Utmost Purity Galaxy but away from it! They soared on his sword to the far starry distance.
"You ready?" Wei Wuyin interrupted the cheerful and energetic exchange between his family. They all perked up instantly, turning unprecedentedly serious.
"That was fast! Blah! That river is quite the janitor," Ori cursed with a pouting tone, clearly hating that she was interrupted.
"Stay focused, Athena. We'll be back," Magus said smilingly. They all left behind words of encouragement before leaving the Mind's Eye, allowing Athena and Little Defiant to complete the refinement undisturbed.
The chaos from the explosion made it very difficult for those to observe the details occurring within. The only ones whose gaze had pierced through were that mysterious gaze from earlier. Wei Wuyin's Celestial Eyes had the power to, but Su Yi could only sense gazes by virtue of his innate hypersensitivity. However, besides those two, no one else has been able to weave through the chaos, and even if they did, none had landed on them.
"It's been a while since we've done this," Eden mentioned as it got to work. Eden, Kratos, King, Ori, and Magus worked in flawless tandem; their energies flowed throughout Wei Wuyin's body, bursting from his pores and swirling about him. The Mystic Runic Sphere was absorbed into his dantian.
Suddenly, Wei Wuyin's silvery eyes dimmed drastically. Almost exuding a deathly glint. There were tears in his clothing.
"Ugh!" He expelled blood with a violent heave, containing his quintessential soul energy, permeating the air, infused seamlessly with a deathly will—Necro Intent—and his complexion became ghastly and slack, utterly drained of energy. Cracks formed on his body, especially his neck, hands, and sides of his eyes, pulsating subtly as if trying to stay intact with their utmost effort.
The cracks were chaotic, and they didn't exude any deathly intent, but genuine lifeforce tied to one's lifespan, faintly carrying soul energy as well, potentially affecting his soulspan as well. The lifeforce was emulated by Magus' unique Enlightened Everlasting Energy, perfectly replicating the unrefined, ownerless lifeforce of the Mark of Eden, but this was refined by him, carrying his natural aura and seemingly belonging to only him!
The addition elicited a wave of awe-filled praise from Ori, "So real! So real! You're amazing at this! Hehe."
Magus was rather proud, working a little harder.
Faint destructive power extracted from the surroundings carrying Long Shiya's soul aura was imprinted on his skin, violent and threatening. This was Eden's work.
King obliterated three fingers, a portion of his left shoulder, and the entirety of his left leg. The destruction was false. Wei Wuyin had long since learned how to change his form, so all he had to do was recede all the essential qualities of those portions into other parts, ready to be deployed back at any time without loss, while King gave the impression of a True annihilation. There was nothing amiss.
Kratos directed Wei Wuyin's bodily response, lessening the strength of his breath, physical impression upon the world, and chaotic, disturbed spatial dimensions due to being unable to control his barely present strength, almost as if he was a dying cultivator clutching at life desperately.
Ori cheered on as it assisted, making minor tweaks to each, to generate a realistic feel that was as natural as the act of creation. Her assistance was crucial, adding the final touches to already impressive transformations.
Then, they all exuded a weakened spirituality as a whole. Eden exposed its alchemical spiritual presence through Wei Wuyin's strange body, while also allowing King to exude a distinct majestic aura of imperial presence shrouded half-heartedly by Kratos' primordial divine mist to allow those sensing to note that he had two Spirits of Cultivation—an Alchemic Soul that was somewhat healthy and an Imperial Soul that was unable to hide properly, exposing its powers.
Then, Wei Wuyin brought out a few Heavenly Treasure fragments that he had obtained from the Resolute Dusk Galaxy's various vaults. They were either incomplete or failed attempts at creating Heavenly Treasures, and then imbued them with six of his auras of Law. From an outsider's perspective, these fragments were the protective measures used to block the blast.
Element was next; the Nascent Saber Soul damaged its treasured scabbard, including its saber body made from the Essence of War material. It began to exude a strong World Saber Intent, yet was seemingly unable to escape from the scabbard. When Wei Wuyin inevitably allowed Magus and Eden to put him in an unconscious state, the Element's physical body was held in his hand tightly, desperately, and refused to let go despite being too slow to unsheathe.
Wei Wuyin soon allowed his body to float, drawing closer to the gravitational force of the Utmost Purity Galaxy, finally exposed by the dissipating chaos. He resembled a half-corpse, barely holding on for dear life after a great sacrifice.
An unconscious half-corpse that refused to unleash Soulguard Absconding to escape, forcing him to abandon the unparalleled body of a talented alchemic genius. Or unable to. Whichever the mind decided to conclude.
Now, like the fisherman, he just had to wait…
And it seemed it wouldn't have to be for long to bite on the hook.
The Utmost-Heaven Guardian Array was slowly creating an opening. A few void vessels flew out, seemingly a curious exploratory force, but the Supreme Sages deeply concealed on board would suggest their intentions were far more…sinister.
