Montrael, Martial Redemption Dojo.
"Thank you!"
The students shouted and bowed.
It signaled the end of yet another day of training, and students started pouring out of the front gates.
Jock changed into a hoodie and walked out of the yard with his hands inside the pockets of the hoodie.
It was turning quite cold already. He pulled the hood up over his head to shield himself from the chilly evening air.
'We will be leaving shortly, so I must go to my place, pack my things, and prepare for departure.'
Jock thought to himself with a serious look on his face.
'This is easily the craziest thing I've ever done in my life. I am going to Dead World. A place where no one has survived!'
He would be lying if he said that he wasn't scared, but these dreams were too real to ignore, and it felt like it was his destiny to go there.
"Hey… Jock!"
In that moment, someone called for him, and he turned around to see Cleo jogging after him, her ponytail waving behind her.
She looked very lovely, and the pedestrians had a hard time looking away from her. It was like she was a princess.
"Cleo…"
Jock whispered under his breath, stopped walking, and turned to look at her.
"…Are you heading off home?"
Cleo asked.
She sounded very nervous about something and didn't have the same confidence that she had when talking to a friend, for example.
It was clear there were a lot of feelings between the two of them, and it made both of them act differently.
"Yes, I was…"
Jock said and checked the wristwatch.
He didn't have a lot of time to waste, as Julian said that he needed to be ready to leave at ten at night, as Renette was apparently coming with a flying ship for them to use.
"I talked with Miss Aoi just now, and apparently she is leaving for a few weeks with Ellie. She asked the two of us to take care of the dojo while she is gone."
Cleo said.
"…I am sorry, but I will also be leaving tonight. I won't be around for a while."
Jock said.
"…"
Cleo turned silent, and she then bit her lip, and her lips turned into a sad frown as she thought, 'Again he is leaving.'
"You are leaving again? It hasn't even been a long time that you have been here. Why do you have to leave always?"
Cleo asked.
"I really don't want to argue right now. I am leaving, end of the discussion. You can ask Lumian to take care of the dojo with you."
Jock said, and turned around.
"…Fine, go. If that is what you want to do, then go, and don't ever come back either. I don't care anymore!"
Cleo screamed while at the brink of tears, and she ran off.
The pedestrians looked awkwardly at the scene of the lovers' quarrel and looked at Jock like he was a monster.
They couldn't understand how someone could be so heartless as to make such a sweet-looking girl cry.
"Haah… Tch…"
Jock kicked a rock and, with hands inside his pockets, headed straight to the home, but his thoughts kept wandering to that argument just now.
He kept thinking about if he could've done it better to prevent her tears, as he really loved her, but he was just horrible at talking.
'…I must go… I must…'
Jock gritted his teeth.
After returning to his home, he packed his stuff and walked to the rooftop of the apartment complex he was living in.
He pulled out his phone, messaged with Julian, and then sat down on some plastic chair and waited.
It took some time, but after a while, the wind picked up, and clouds seemed to appear in the skies from nowhere.
"What's going on?"
In that moment, from the clouds, a rope lowered to the rooftop he was staying in, and he grabbed it.
The rope pulled him through the clouds, and he suddenly landed at the deck of a flying ship that had sails billowing in the wind.
"Ah…"
Jock could barely keep his footing.
"…How is it?"
Renette asked and showed the flying ship—which she stole—and she was acting like she was the actual owner of it.
This flying ship was just a museum piece at one of the wealthiest collections in the world, and since nobody was using it, she thought that it was such a waste.
"This will do wonderfully."
Julian said.
"…You got everything you need, Jock? Because once we leave, we are not coming back for quite a while."
Renette said with a serious look.
"…I am ready."
Jock said and got seated.
With a nod, Renette activated the flying ship, and its massive oars started slicing through the air like knives.
At the back of the flying ship, a booster engine ignited, propelling them forward with incredible speed.
They disappeared into the distance in an instant!
"Whoah… With this speed, we'll arrive at Dead World in a couple of days!"
Julian said with a big smile.
"Is there a reason why none of the captains of the flying ships have tried going to Dead World before?"
Jock asked.
"…The monsters of the mist, that's why. There are some flying creatures hovering over it, attacking anyone that tries coming through the air."
Renette said.
"So what can we do about that? Just fight through?"
Jock asked.
"…Nope, I plan on making this flying ship invisible with my power. I've been practicing, and I've been able to shroud an entire skyscraper with my invisibility powers.
"This flying ship should be a piece of cake!"
Julian said with a smirk.
"Wooh… Alright."
Jock took a deep breath, stood at the bow of the ship, and watched as the world around them swiftly got left behind.
They passed countless islands, countless ships, countless sea creatures, and countless storms.
"We are coming… Please be alive."
Jock whispered under his breath.
The flying ship—the Great Flying Turtle—soared through the sky like a missile, unwavering in its path towards the horizon.
Dead World—the place dreaded by everyone—was going to have three new visitors.
