Wizard: Start with Biological Transformation to Grind Experience

Chapter 2: Investigation

The plump face of Seren, formed by a ghostly blue flame, twisted with anxiety that seemed to spill from the pixelated projection: "Lynch! Saphiro! What on earth are you up to?!"

His voice echoed around the quiet top-floor study of the Guardian Tower, carrying a grating metallic edge, "Why did a Domain-level fluctuation suddenly erupt at the core of your Witch Domain?! That pure aura of Light is about to break through the planar barrier! Could it be... could it be you silently advanced to the Domain level?! How is this possible?!"

Behind the Obsidian desk, Lynch slightly leaned back, settling into the wide high-backed chair, shadows aptly concealed the upper half of his face, leaving only a faint curve at the corner of his mouth. His fingertip gently tapped the cold surface of the table, producing a rhythmic, soft "tap, tap" sound, as if providing a soundtrack to Seren's impatience.

Lynch chuckled, "Your intelligence is still as sharp as ever. From Fran to the Jade Land, that's quite a distance."

"Don't try to play dumb with me!"

Seren's projection shook excitedly, the ghostly blue flames flickering, "That fluctuation! Pure, vast, with an undeniable 'presence,' absolutely Domain level! The Monitoring Tower detected it instantly! Tell me, what the hell is going on?"

So that's how it is...

Lynch wondered how the news reached this Fatty so fast when he hadn't even announced it yet.

Long ago, Lynch had heard that Wizard Organizations above the Fourth Ring had constructed devices specifically for monitoring spiritual power fluctuations, capable of detecting any significant spiritual power surge worldwide instantaneously. It seemed they weren't just boasting.

Lynch pondered for a moment, still unwilling to give a direct answer, "The scenery beyond the secret skill… it is indeed alluring. Mr. Seren, do you think I, Lynch, have the qualification and capability?"

"Qualification? Capability?"

Seren seemed stumped, the urgency on his plump face slightly restrained, replaced by the shrewd curiosity of a merchant, "Saphiro, you're one of the most... unpredictable Wizards I've ever met. Your methods are too unconventional, too peculiar. Under normal circumstances, absolutely impossible! But if it happens to you…"

He paused, lowering his voice with a hint of persuasion and probing, "That fluctuation, the source is in your Witch Domain! If it's not you, then who could it be? Unless... you've discovered some ancient relic? Or... secretly cultivated a Domain-level ally?"

If it were anyone else, he might have believed it, but when it comes to Lynch, he had to question everything.

To know, when he first met Lynch, this guy was just reaching the level of secret skill, yet not much time had passed since then, and while he was still struggling at the Wizard level, Lynch had already reached the late-stage Mystical level.

Although suddenly achieving Domain level is quite fantastical, if it happens to him, Seren feels it's not completely impossible.

Lynch shook his head, "It's indeed not me, but..."

He paused, then shifted his tone, adding, "After all, this land is my Witch Domain. If I say it has nothing to do with me, you probably wouldn't believe it, right?"

His gaze seemed to penetrate the projection, landing on Seren's real being, "As for the fluctuation itself… Mr. Seren, you only need to know that the Jade Land now possesses enough power to 'stabilize' the situation."

The relationship between him and Fran was ultimately a partnership, appropriately revealing some of his power and potential would help solidify cooperation with them.

"So... it's not you personally?" Seren was unwilling to give up, switching to a more direct question.

Lynch's mouth curved into a deeper, playful arc, "Why fixate on 'who'? Isn't the importance in the existence of the 'power' itself and the significance it represents?"

He once again deftly sidestepped a direct answer, steering the conversation toward the changes in landscape brought by the power, "The Jade Land has been fragmented for too long; it's time for a powerful voice to put an end to this chaos. This power is sufficient to ensure that this voice is loud enough... and effective enough."

Seren was silent. The projection of ghostly blue flames fluctuated slightly, reflecting his face, switching between expressions. Lynch's watertight responses neither exposed the existence of Messiah nor unambiguously conveyed several key messages:

1. The Domain fluctuation did indeed originate from the Guardian Tower and is closely related to Lynch.

2. This power truly exists and is potent, potent enough to stabilize the Jade Land.

3. This power is within his control.

4. Lynch intends to utilize this power to integrate the Jade Land.

This was even more unfathomable and pressurizing to Seren than directly admitting he was Domain level. Someone who can control or "own" the power of the Domain is far beyond someone newly advanced to the Domain Wizard.

After a pause, Seren continued, "I suppose you know that reaching the Domain level entails more than just oneself."

Domain,

The third stage of Wizard levels.

Any Wizard reaching this stage would have a place in the Supreme Council and must have a place there.

Because the Supreme Council itself clearly requires that all Domain-level Wizards register with the Supreme Council and be strictly controlled by it.

Domains refusing to be monitored by the Supreme Council are regarded as opponents of the Supreme Council, deemed Black Wizards.

Now that Lynch has clearly given rise to a Domain-level existence, whether he likes it or not, the Supreme Council will inevitably be involved.

Lynch's expression flashed with discontent, "I don't need you to remind me."

In a world where the weak are prey to the strong, the so-called Supreme Council is merely a toy for the top Wizard Organizations, a bunch of grandiose rules designed to maintain their reign.

Taking all above Domain-level into the Supreme Council seems to grant identity and status, but isn't it actually to monitor them in real-time?

Lynch explained, "I can only say that in my place, indeed, Domain-level power was produced, but this power currently has no intention to join the Supreme Council, and I have no way to force her, after all, I'm just a secret skill not qualified to interfere with a Domain-level's will."

Going to the Council is impossible; not to mention that in his Witch Domain, Messiah is subject to his will, but at the Supreme Council, Messiah's will might not be his to control.

Moreover, Messiah's situation is quite special, and once exposed at the Council, things are likely to become much more complicated...
