Lynch heard this, his expression turned serious, and he immediately asked, "Lord Vadorra, what trouble have you encountered? Please feel free to speak."
The gentleness on Vadorra's ethereal visage was replaced by traces of pain and worry, his ancient voice heavy: "It's the Bone Eroding Worm! A Bone Eroding Worm that has reached the Third Tier Domain Level; using some unknown method, it penetrated my outer defenses and burrowed inside my body. It is now rampaging through my life's network, continuously devouring my life essence!"
The Bone Eroding Worm, a notorious domain-level parasitic creature in the Wizard World, resembles a gigantic, translucent worm, its mouth brimming with law-corroding sharp teeth. These creatures primarily feast on giant, ancient tree species, particularly favoring hosts with abundant life force such as World Species, making them a nightmare for all plant-based Transcendent life forms.
Vadorra's voice carried a plea: "The erosion it causes is accompanied by a strong trait of decay, and conventional treatment methods are difficult to eradicate it, sometimes even accelerating the decay. I hope you can use your power of resurrection to eliminate that pest and heal the wounds it has caused, restoring vitality to the forces of decay!"
A flicker of understanding passed through Lynch's eyes as he suddenly realized: "I see… it's the Bone Eroding Worm."
He knew well the terror of such creatures; the damage they caused was not mere physical wreckage but left behind an extremely stubborn, rule-attribute decay power at the wound site, which continued to spread, hindering healing and perpetually weakening the host.
And his power of revival, encompassing the most primal rules of creation and life, is the best nemesis to dispel and reverse such decaying forces.
Seeing he understood the situation, Vadorra solemnly promised: "Young Saphiro, I understand that this request requires you to take risks by entering my body to battle the Bone Eroding Worm. If you succeed, I am willing to give you a portion of Life Essence Liquid as a reward."
Life Essence Liquid, the highest crystallization of vivid life embodiment, produced by Vadorra, the World Species, condensing its most purified life essence, is invaluable.
When paired with other precious materials to craft magic potions, it can permanently and significantly enhance the user's life energy limit and recovery power, even offering miraculous benefits to the soul—an invaluable treasure that would tempt even rule-level beings.
This promise undoubtedly reflects Vadorra's great sincerity in resolving this crisis.
Lynch pondered briefly, then resolutely nodded in agreement: "Since it is your request, I will try my best to eliminate that Bone Eroding Worm and heal your wounds."
Vadorra, upon hearing this, appeared relieved, showing gratitude: "Thank you for your generous assistance, Lord Saphiro."
No sooner were the words spoken than a leaf, lush and green, fluttered from the ethereal small tree, blossoming with a soft natural glow in the air.
Within the radiance, the leaf swiftly transformed and elongated, finally becoming a small being about the size of a palm, with transparent butterfly wings and a body composed entirely of pure Wood Spirit Qi. This small fairy had delicate features and exuded a life aura kindred with Vadorra.
"This is Isie," Vadorra introduced, "It is formed from a strand of my Original Wood Spirit, most familiar with the internal pathways, and it will guide you to the lair of that pest."
The Forest Fairy named Isie gracefully flew in front of Lynch, hovering in mid-air, and performed an elegant gesture, its voice crisp like tinkling springs: "Honorable Lord Saphiro, please follow me."
Lynch nodded in acknowledgment: "Thank you for your trouble."
Immediately, Lynch levitated, following the Forest Fairy Isie, flying upward along Vadorra's gigantic trunk, resembling towering mountain ranges. The further up they went, the more they could feel the grandeur and greatness of the ancient World Species, with its rugged bark recording endless eras.
After flying for about a quarter of an hour, they reached a region in the middle-upper part of the trunk. Here, a massive tree hole over ten meters in diameter suddenly appeared in sight, like a deep cavern in the mountain wall.
Unlike the surrounding vibrant bronze-colored bark, the edges of this tree hole showed an ominous gray-black, with the wood noticeably becoming soft and rotten, the surface covered with a sticky, mold-like dark substance exuding a distinct decay scent—
This was the trace left by the activity of the Bone Eroding Worm.
"Lord, the entrance is here. Please be cautious; the erosion inside might be more severe than it appears outside," Isie warned, its glow seeming to dim slightly upon approaching this decayed place.
Lynch's expression turned grave, a faint energy shield enveloping him, as he led the way into the depths of that hollow tree. Isie followed closely behind.
As soon as they entered the hole, a smell mixed with cold, dampness, and intense putrefaction hit them, causing nausea. Completely different from the abundant life aura exuded by Vadorra outside, this place seemed like an alternate dimension dominated by death and decay.
The air was filled with visibly gray and decayed spores, and the "ground" beneath was soft and viscous, giving way beneath each step. The surrounding cave walls were covered with protruding, vein-like blackened networks, slowly seeping foul-smelling black juice in some areas.
The destruction caused by the Bone Eroding Worm was far more shocking than observed from the outside.
Following the guidance of the Forest Fairy Isie, Lynch cautiously proceeded through the decay-laden tree-hole tunnel. The deeper they went, the more hostile the surroundings became, with decaying energy in the air almost forming a tangible fog of gray spores.
Isie, flying ahead as a guide, had its once soft natural glow noticeably dimmed, its flight path becoming erratic and unstable. Her face, made of pure Wood Spirit Qi, displayed an expression akin to "pallor" and "pain," flickering as if about to dissipate at any moment.
Lynch immediately understood that Isie, essentially the embodiment of Vadorra's life energy, was being severely corroded by the potent decaying power from the Bone Eroding Worm in this area, akin to intense poison undermining her essence.
"Isie, it's enough to stop here," Lynch said calmly, "The decay power here harms you too greatly; I'll proceed on alone."
Isie stopped weakly, leaning on a relatively intact part of the cave wall, her face showing apology and worry: "I'm sorry, Lord Saphiro, I... I can no longer advance. Please be extremely careful; follow this main path to its deepest point, and you'll reach the core nest of that loathsome worm."
Lynch nodded: "Don't worry, leave it to me."
Parting ways with Isie, Lynch continued alone into the deeper reaches of the tree hole. The energy shield surrounding him glowed slightly, isolating the increasingly dense decayed spores and odorous air. The "ground" underfoot became even more sticky and slippery, with necrotic, vein-like networks twisting like black blood vessels on the surrounding walls, pulsating with an uncomfortable weak energy.
After proceeding silently for about several hundred meters, an unusual sound suddenly came from the darkness ahead—
"Hisssss... Sssssssss..."
The sound was dense and sticky, like thousands of venomous snakes hissing simultaneously, or some soft-bodied creature rapidly crawling on a slick surface, echoing and amplifying in the closed tree-hole environment, sending shivers down one's spine.
Soon after, Lynch witnessed a chilling scene—
From the depths of the tunnel ahead, like a breached flood, swarmed a multitude of long worms!
Each as thick as an arm, their bodies were a translucent gray-white, with visible internal organs writhing and streams of dark corrosive energy.
They had no eyes, only a suction-cup-shaped mouth at the front, which continuously opened and closed, filled with layers upon layers of ring-shaped sharp teeth, producing a tooth-grinding "hiss".
These were clearly the offspring bred or controlled by the Bone Eroding Worm Mother, surging towards Lynch like a white tidal wave of death, instantly filling the entire passageway!
The battle, about to erupt!
