Wizard: Start with Biological Transformation to Grind Experience

Chapter 36: Rules

"For the glory of the Empire! Purge this blasphemer!" The commander clad in golden armor roared as he swung his sword.

"He cannot be allowed to live any longer! He has devoured too much of the world's essence!" An elderly legendary wizard brandished his magic wand, summoning a meteor fire rain.

"Form the array! Seal him at all costs!" Countless priests chanted sacred spells, as a massive light canopy attempted to press down.

Slaughter, endless slaughter. Battle, ceaseless battle.

The man was expressionless, or rather, all his emotions had long been worn away through endless betrayal, exploitation, imprisonment, and war. He simply waved his hand mechanically, and the space collapsed in large swaths, swallowing thousands of troops into the void;

Wherever his gaze reached, laws were rewritten, and powerful wizards, along with their protective magic, ignited, froze, or turned to stone. He resembled the most efficient harvesting machine; life withered in his path, mountains and rivers changed course, and the world altered its colors.

However, the enemies were too many, too strong, and unending. They used information about his weaknesses, provided by those who were once his "allies," employed forbidden arrays he had once helped perfect, using the essence accumulated over millennia by an entire world and... fear.

Cracks began to form on the runes covering his body, bleeding energy like lava. For the first time, his aura wavered.

Attacks came from all directions like an unending storm, trapping him firmly in the center. The "creators" who once cheered around him now hid behind battle formations, trying to completely annihilate this "failed creation" with the most venomous curses and spells.

Finally, after enduring a fatal strike from some hidden entity, he staggered backward, surveying his surroundings. All he could see were enemies, destruction, and a denial of his existence.

He slowly raised his head, looking at the sky disturbed into chaos by his power. In those deep eyes, the last glimmer of "Al's" humanity extinguished completely, replaced by absolute, all-encompassing silence.

He spread his arms, no longer defending, letting the attacks rain upon him. The runes all over his body flickered and spun frantically at unprecedented speed, until finally... they shattered completely!

All the broken rune pieces, along with his accumulated boundless strength, endless resentment, twisted creative desire, and that utter hopelessness toward the entire world, were forcibly compressed and ignited in an act of self-destruction at this moment—

"..."

There was no sound.

Or rather, sound had lost its meaning before the extreme light and heat.

Centered on him, an indescribable beam of light, dazzling enough to make the stars pale, silently and rapidly expanded outward. It was not an explosive shockwave but more like an absolute erasure of "existence."

Where the beam passed, space itself evaporated, time flow shattered, matter, energy, soul... everything foundational to the world, upon contact with this beam, returned to the primal "void."

Towns, villages, mountains, rivers, battling armies, spell-casting wizards, massive war machines... even those splendid capitals and serene pastures far away from the battle were reduced to nothingness before the erasing circle of light, as pencil drawings erased with a rubber, inch by inch collapsing into invisibility.

The final frame of memory was that destructive circle of light spreading to the horizon, engulfing the entire world in pure white. Then, everything returned to eternal silence and darkness.

Lynch gasped sharply, breaking free from this fragment of memory bearing the end of the world, a fine cold sweat seeping from his forehead. Even just the echo of memory, that world-crushing despair and force reducing all to nothing, still made his soul tremble as never before.

In the isolated island constructed by the Time Domain, perhaps only a fleeting moment had passed outside, but for Lynch, it was as if he had lived through cycles of countless different lives.

The shattered memories of the Truth Wizard Al — childhood innocence, the agony of change, torture of experiments, the twisted "deification," and ultimately destructive despair and vengeance — those fragments containing extreme emotions and soul imprints, like ceaseless tides, washed and baptized Lynch's core of consciousness time and again.

The system prompts had long transformed from clear broadcasts into a continuous background hum, signifying the exp points accumulating and swelling at an unprecedented speed.

The barriers of the soul were breached again and again, then reshaped at a higher level each time. The essence of Lynch's soul, like divine iron that has been forged a thousand times, was approaching the realm of theoretical "perfection," swiftly upon absorbing nearly the entire life insights and soul essence of another truth existence.

Finally, when the sands of time flowed to a critical point—

[Ding——!]

A clear ringing that transcended the concept of sound, seemingly originating directly from the rule base, pierced through Lynch's soul.

[Soul Law Experience Points Maxed.]

[Soul Law Level: lv100 (Max)]

[Detected that the host's soul essence has reached theoretical perfection at the current dimension…]

[Life Level Meets the Transition Conditions…]

[Beginning Upgrading…]

"Boom!!!"

The feeling at this moment defied accurate description by any language.

It was like the first ray of light at the dawn of the universe, yet also the last sigh of everything returning to nothingness.

Lynch felt his very "existence" shattered completely at that moment, then reconstructed in a way surpassing all previous understanding.

His soul was no longer just the core of consciousness; it seemed to become innumerable minuscule particles of rule, eternally glowing, melding closely with his physical body, his energy, his everything, indistinguishable.

An unprecedented feeling of "completeness" and "clarity" emerged, as if he was always meant to be this way, and all previous experiences were but a long and ignorant sleep.

At the same time, the Time Law that he was renowned for underwent a monumental transformation.

Previously, when he deployed the Time Domain, it was more like "driving" or "influencing" the flow of time through formidable power, akin to a skillful navigator laboriously steering through the river of time.

But now,

"Time" seemed to become a natural extension of his body, as instinctive as breathing. He no longer needed to deliberately "drive" it; with a mere flicker of thought, the surrounding time rules danced and reshaped at his will.

He was no longer the "navigator" of the river of time, but transformed into this stream's… "master."

He could clearly "see" the myriad branches and possibilities of the nearby timeline, sense the birth and demise trajectories of everything within the temporal dimension. A sweeping feeling of power, presiding over the rise and fall of all things, surged from the depths of his soul.

This is the Rule Level!

Not merely an increase in power, but a fundamental ascension in the form of life, a world-shattering leap from "using rules" to "embodying rules"!

The system prompt surfaced again, yet the text bore an unprecedented solemnity and simplicity:

[Life Level Transition Complete.]

[Current Rank: Fourth Tier·Rule Level (Time)]

[Rule Base: Soul (Perfection)]

[Warning: Detected barriers to higher-level truths, insufficient data to parse…]

Lynch slowly opened his eyes.

It was still that broken space, still that slowly rotating black soul vortex. But in his perception now, the world was entirely different. All things presented their internal time trajectories and rule frameworks before his eyes, and a sense of mastery over everything filled his mind.

He, Lynch Valen, at this place, finally became the rule!
