Lynch learned the details from Captain Kelle and nodded slightly, "I see."
He fell into a brief contemplation, as the clues about the "Hourglass of Time" gradually linked together in his mind. He wasn't hearing of this Rule Magic Tool for the first time. During his years studying in Fran, he occasionally captured snippets about it from the ancient secrets mentioned by his mentor Gulwige.
According to legends, this "Hourglass of Time" was not originally from this Plane, its true origin tracing back to when the first Wizards arrived in this world aboard interplanar giant Flying Aircraft.
Originally, it was one of the key components used to stabilize the core chambers and balance the structure of Space and Time aboard the Flying Aircraft.
However, the ark carrying hope and knowledge eventually met an unfortunate end, and its wreckage along with countless precision parts scattered across the world, buried within. Parts of those fragments fell into this vast and mysterious Ancient Forest.
Later, the brilliant Akadiga civilization rose. Some Wizards discovered these fragments imbued with Otherworld rules, and used them as core fuses to arrange a series of grand and precise Magic Arrays within the Ancient Forest.
Their initial intention was to construct this place as an important frontier base for the expansion and continuation of the Akadiga civilization, and even as a new cradle for Wizard Civilization.
Sadly, plans couldn't keep up with the unforeseen. The grand Akadiga civilization itself couldn't escape the fate of obliteration, crumbling with a roar. This yet-to-be-completely-constructed extension naturally lost its significance and support for further development.
Those ancient Magic Arrays, painstakingly arranged, were abandoned, gradually decaying and burying over the long years.
Later, new Wizard family forces began to take root and grow on this land. They discovered these ancient ruins and the hidden powers within.
Ultimately, these legacies were mostly inherited and controlled by the pure-blood Wizard families of the Ancient Ruins, who occupied this place at the time and prided themselves on their noble Bloodline. The "Hourglass of Time" must have fallen into the hands of the ancestor of the Tavendish family during that period, becoming their secret heritage treasure.
Lynch stood quietly in front of the force field refracting twisted light, his gray eyes focused on the constantly changing, irregular Space-Time ripples at its edge.
A moment later, his thoughts shifted slightly, and the pure, vast Time Domain power began to carefully extend towards the edge of the force field, trying to analyze and integrate into its operational rules.
However,
the instant his Domain power touched the twisted boundary, it was not repelled, but instantly assimilated, decomposed, and submerged by a more ancient, more chaotic, yet fundamentally higher power!
Not even a sliver of effective feedback returned before it completely dissipated.
Lynch's brows furrowed almost imperceptibly, muttering under his breath, "It truly is Rule Power..."
From that brief contact, the fragmented information fed back by the Domain clearly pointed to one fact: the power constructing this twisted area indeed belonged to the category of Time Rules, transcending Domain.
The rumors about the "Hourglass of Time" being a Rule Magic Tool seemed not unfounded.
Refusing to give in, he raised his hand again, constructing a high-level Detection Spell with a sophisticated structure, glowing with arcane luminance, like an invisible Perception probe cautiously aimed at the force field.
The result remained the same.
The spell's radiance was erased the instant it touched the twisted force field, as if wiped away by an invisible hand, without leaving even a ripple, disappearing completely, severing the Spiritual Link with Lynch.
It seems entering is necessary...
Lynch turned around, his gaze falling on Captain Kelle, who had been watching him tensely the whole time. His tone was calm but carried an unquestionable meaning:
"I have a rough understanding of the situation. This area is distorted by powerful Time Rules, external means are ineffective."
"I need to go in and take a look."
Wizard Keller's face changed rapidly upon hearing, stepping forward anxiously, his tone urging and stopping him: "Mr. Lynch, absolutely not! The power inside is unclaimed Rule Level energy, chaotic and violent. If you go in recklessly, I'm afraid..."
His words remained unfinished, but the meaning was crystal clear. He knew well that the man before him was no longer the former apprentice, but the Lord of Emerald, the key support for the remnants of the Tavendish family and all forces opposing the Freemasonry Church trying to make a comeback.
If anything happened to Lynch at this site, the hope they glimpsed would instantly crumble.
Shirley also stepped forward quickly, worry etched on her beautiful face: "Master, the situation inside is unknown, is there... any other safer way to think?"
Other Tavendish Wizards around echoed her sentiments, speaking sincerely, all hoping Lynch would reconsider carefully and not take risks lightly.
Facing everyone's discouragement, Lynch simply shook his head calmly, his tone mild yet carried unyielding determination: "No need to worry about me."
After saying this, he slowly closed his eyes. When he opened them again, a certain kind of indescribable, fundamental Ascension seemed to have occurred in his demeanor.
And right at the center of his forehead, a mysterious, complex, blue mark seemingly composed of countless flowing Time runes slowly emerged.
That mark exuded an indescribable majesty; it was not just a simple aggregation of energy, but seemed more like the manifestation of a supreme Law.
The instant it appeared, the surrounding air seemed to solidify, light twisted accordingly, an invisible rule suppression shallower than everything proliferated like mercury spill.
"Rule Mark!"
Someone in the crowd exclaimed in surprise, the voice altered by extreme shock.
All Wizards present, including Kelle and Shirley, were momentarily struck by thunder, shaking violently! They stared wide-eyed, unwaveringly at the bright blue mark on Lynch's forehead, their faces filled with overwhelming astonishment and disbelief.
Keller trembled violently, extending a finger pointing at Lynch, his lips quivering, using great effort to squeeze out a few words from his throat, shattered by extreme shock:
"You... you... you've already... advanced to a Rule Wizard!!!"
Lynch simply nodded casually, indifferent to Keller's thunderous shout.
The next moment, before everyone could recover from the extreme shock brought by the Rule Mark, his figure blurred, merging effortlessly into that bizarrely distorted Forest governed by chaotic Time Rules.
His entry did not stir up any ripples, did not cause any anticipated violent conflict or energy explosion.
The Time power chaotic enough to instantly obliterate a Mystical Wizard, in his presence, transformed into tamed water, naturally paving an unseen path for him.
What remained was a group of dumbfounded Tavendish Wizards, their minds almost halted.
Keller remained in his pose with the fingertip pointing, contorting incredulously, as if he was transformed into a sculpture.
Shirley's mouth stayed slightly open, her eyes casting shadows of concern, yet further layered by solemn awe.
As for the rest of the Wizards, they exchanged helpless looks, seeing in each other's eyes a bafflement and shock akin to witnessing a miracle.
In the air,
only the discordant humming of the twisted Forest persisted, alongside the rough, chaotic breaths of the crowd.
Rule Wizard...
He had indeed become a Rule Wizard!
This realization echoed like thunder within their blank minds and the desolate forest, incessantly resonating, enduring.
