Prince of Gluttony: Born from Betrayal

Chapter 111: The Fox's Kiss

The hunger was gone. Or at the very least, it had been sated. Without it, Kiyomi actually felt a bit empty. The pain had been a constant companion, something that had been there with her for so long that it felt weird to be without.

However, she still felt like this was still worth celebrating. She actually felt a bit giddy. Even if she became a host to some weird pink fog that called itself a skill, it had only benefitted her and she could probably say the same rang true for Maris and Mira.

But keeping her emotions in check, she slowly walked towards Cain who was quietly observing her, checking to see if he could see any problems with her after taking in Lust. When she was practically toe to toe, Cain sensed something was odd with Kiyomi but whatever it was, it wasn't malicious in nature.

"Cain. I know Mira said that she could kiss you....I am going to kiss you!" Kiyomi declared as she reached up and grabbed his collar. Before anyone coould react, she grabbed his collar, tugging his head down a bit so she could lean up and plant her lips directly against his.

The fur on Jayden's tail and ears bristled immediately in shock and anger while her mouth fell open in a wordless shout. That Fox bitch was making a move on her man!

Cain did not move when Kiyomi kissed him.

The three-tailed fox stood on her toes, lips pressed firmly to his as though daring anyone to stop her. For one brief moment, there was nothing else in the world but the feel of her mouth against his.

A faint heat rolled through Cain's body like liquid fire, coiling low in his stomach. It was sharp, sudden, and wrong. He realized almost immediately that the surge of arousal did not belong to him alone. It was the work of Lust, the strange presence Kiyomi had accepted.

His eyes narrowed slightly, the violet glow behind them sharpening as he fought to keep his head clear.

Kiyomi, however, felt nothing but warmth. Not just warmth—life. The kiss filled her in a way she had never experienced before, as though she had been starving without knowing it. Something unseen surged into her body, a river of vitality that left her feeling alive in every nerve, every breath, every heartbeat. Her three tails flared out behind her, swaying slowly as she held onto him for a few precious seconds longer.

Then she let go, stepping back with a faint smirk on her lips, ears twitching.

"There," she said softly. "I did it."

Cain stared down at her, his face unreadable. Inside, though, he was sorting through the odd mixture of sensations now settling in his veins. The echo of Lust was fading, leaving him coldly aware of how easily it had slipped through his guard. He did not like that feeling.

Before he could speak, a sharp shout cut through the air.

"You—what was that?!"

Jayden's voice cracked like a whip across the training ground. Her tail bristled, the fur along her ears standing on end. Her crimson eyes blazed as she pointed a trembling finger at Kiyomi, mouth open in disbelief.

"You kissed him? Just like that?!"

Kiyomi turned slowly, the corner of her mouth curling upward. "That is what it looked like, yes."

Jayden's face turned scarlet. "You...You can't just...He's—"

Maris leaned lazily against a nearby post, watching with clear amusement. "Oh, this is much better than the last time we trained here. I was wondering how long it would take before someone tried that."

"Maris, shut up!" Jayden snapped, spinning on her.

Maris grinned. "What? I am only enjoying the show."

Mira, standing just behind them, still looked like she was processing what she had seen. "Did she really just…?" she muttered, more to herself than anyone else.

"She did," Maris confirmed brightly.

Jayden's tail lashed furiously behind her. "And you just let her?!" she shouted at Cain, eyes blazing.

Cain finally spoke, his tone calm and level. "I did not expect it."

"Not expect—" Jayden sputtered, completely losing track of her words for a moment before finally throwing her hands in the air. "Unbelievable!"

Kiyomi folded her arms across her chest, three tails swishing lazily behind her as she met Jayden's glare without a trace of fear. "You look upset," she said smoothly. "Jealous, maybe?"

Jayden froze. Her mouth opened and closed before she managed to snap back, "I am not jealous! I just—You can't go around kissing people like that!"

Kiyomi tilted her head, her ears twitching faintly. "Why not? It is not like he stopped me."

That earned a sharp look from Cain, but he said nothing.

Jayden looked like she was about to explode again when Cain finally cut through the noise.

"Enough."

The single word carried the weight of steel slamming into stone. The training ground fell silent at once. Even Maris straightened slightly, though Kiyomi's smirk did not vanish.

Cain let out a sigh before he turned his head away from Kiyomi to explain what had happened to them.

"While I was in the Abyss, I happened to awaken the true nature of my skill. What was once called Consume was actually Gluttony: One of the Seven Skills in the Sin Series Skill line."

Mira and Maris frowned while Kiyomi's eyes betrayed a sense of skepticism. Her senses were telling her that Cain wasn't telling them the whole truth but she let it slide for now.

"From a mentor at the school I was able to learn a small amount of information about what the Sin Skills are. First: There are only 7 wielders of the Sin series at any given time. So there can only ever be one Gluttony, Pride, Lust, Wrath or Envy."

His gaze flickered between the gazes of the girls whose enthusiasm at gaining a new power had died down slightly at the information Cain was sharing with them.

"However, this mentor didn't tell me that the skills could be fragmented. Someone found and extracted the fragments of these skills and most likely killed the original hosts. I found the fragment of the respective Sins that i gave to each of you inside of Abel when I killed him in the Life and Death Duel. Someone had given him a makeshift skill."

Maris who had been struggling to follow along raised her hand as if she was in some sort of classroom and not a training ground in the middle of the night. Cain noticing the awkward behavior tilted his head and said "Yes, Maris?"

Maris put her hand down and asked the question that had popped up into her mind the moment she heard him say that he had gained these fragments from the corpse of someone he killed.

"How did you get these fragments? You said you got it from a man you killed?"

Cain's smile was wry as he realized there was no way he could hide the effect of Gluttony any longer.

"Gluttony is a skill that allows me to eat anything and gain power from it."

Seeing the girls confusion at why he brought that up now.

"By anything, I mean anything. That includes skills too."

Mira had a look of shock on her face as she realized what he was implying.

"Are you saying that if you bit and ate someones ice magic, you would be able to learn it?!"

Cain nodded his head in affirmation.

"If you ate someones weapon, you would gain the abilities of said weapon?!" Maris blurted out in shock.

Once again Cain nodded his head in affirmation. However this time, Jayden was the one frowning. The sword her father had forged that had been broken by Cain. He had broken it with his teeth....That meant he had eaten it, no?!

She wondered why she couldn't find the shattered blade anywhere: Cain had consumed it!

She was going to have a very hard time explaining that to her father when she saaw him again
