Chapter 520: Will You Be My Wife?

Jason walked into the cave with two subordinates following behind him. Evon had a large bundle of wet firewood in her hand, and Alpha was carrying a large deer-like creature that they had hunted. Jason told them to put the firewood and deer in the center of the cave, and they did before they bowed to Jason and fell into the shadows to go and join the other Legion subordinates in patrolling for enemies. The rain was still pouring heavily outside the cave, and Gina enjoyed the sound of the heavy downpour as she watched Jason crouch beside the firewood and begin arranging them properly. Jason and Gina were superhumans, so they didn't even need any firewood to remain warm in the cold weather, but Jason had insisted that he wanted to make a proper barbecue since they were going to be resting for the next few hours, and even though he could've simply told his subordinates to do it for him, Jason wanted to do it himself. Gina thought it was silly, but she didn't even try to stop him! They had been running for so long, and Gina knew that Jason needed something to take his mind off their situation for now!

Jason managed to dry all the firewood using one of his fire skills, and he then organised them and snapped his fingers to light them up! The fire glowed with a dull orange light that brightened the cave, and Jason turned to see Gina watching him with a smile. Jason raised a brow at her and asked her what was on her mind, but Gina just shook her head and told him to keep going! Jason laughed lightly before he continued arranging the deer properly. He cut out one of the legs, and he then put it over the fire with an elevated stick so it would cook slowly!

Woosh!

Jason blinked when a sudden wind flowed through the cave, and Jason watched as the wind carried all the smoke from the fire towards the cave exit. Jason smiled and thanked Gina, and Gina just shrugged before she put her hand out to Jason! Jason was done with the fire, so it was time for him to rest!

"Come here, you need to lie down for a moment."

"You're treating me like a baby."

"You're my baby. Now come here."

Jason just chuckled again, and he walked over and went to one knee to kiss Gina softly before he finally sat down on the cave wall beside her! But Gina was adamant about bringing him down, and Jason eventually allowed her to pull his head into her lap, and she smiled down at him! Gina's lap was soft and more comfortable than any pillow Jason had ever used. Both Jason and Gina had just taken their bath in a forest pond in the world that they were in, so Gina smelled like forest trees and rain. Jason let out a calm sigh as he fell deeper into her embrace, and Gina began to run her hand through Jason's hair softly. The two lovers had a million things that they were both thinking about. They were worried about the safety of their world, they were worried about the safety of Radagan, and also about whether or not the Machina army was close by. But at this moment, when they were together, there was nothing they needed to concern themselves with other than each other! They just enjoyed their company without caring about the rest of the world.

Gina looked down at Jason's peaceful face. Jason was looking up at the ceiling, and Gina took advantage of his absentmindedness to memorize every curve and line of his face. Gina didn't even know why she did it, because she could likely draw Jason with her eyes closed if she wanted, but she just couldn't help herself. Gina ran a hand through Jason's hair and then down his jaw, and his neck, and Jason closed his eyes and smiled as Gina spoke softly.

"I really love you, Jason."

Jason's eyes opened slowly, and he looked over at Gina when she said this. There was no amusement or playfulness on Gina's face at all at that moment. She had spoken those words with the conviction of a woman who had just discovered the truth of the universe, and Jason could see in her eyes that she meant every single word of it. Jason raised his hand up to the back of Gina's head, and he brought her down for a soft kiss that drove the breath from her lungs! The two of them kissed for a few seconds before Jason finally pulled back, and he smiled.

"I love you too, Gina. I always have. I always will."

Gina felt her own face split into a smile as well when she heard this, and she raised a brow when she saw Jason move off her lap. Jason moved to sit down in front of Gina calmly, and Gina looked at his face and saw that he had suddenly turned serious. There was a tension in his body and Gina could almost feel his tension bleeding into her as well. What was he doing? Jason ran a hand through his hair, and he sighed to the side with a smile on his face. Jason wasn't really used to stuff like this, so he had no idea how to do it. But Jason also knew that anything he did here would be perfect for them, so he didn't let his nerves get to him as he spoke calmly.

"Gina, I know that things haven't been easy for a long time now. We've both been through a lot together, and we both could've died many times during those battles. We've fought, suffered, and laughed for many reasons, and no matter what, we've always done it together, like a family—"

"Jason, what…?"

"Just… let me finish, alright. I'm not used to this, so just let me finish."

Gina stopped what she was going to say, and she nodded to Jason to allow him to go on. Jason took in another calming breath and continued.

"Through all the ups and downs, you've been there with me, and you've supported me more than anyone else in my life. You've been my rock, my partner. My Queen."

Jason reached to the side, and his hand vanished into his Alternate Dimension, and Gina felt her eyes widen when she saw Jason bring out a small red velvet box! Jason brought the box forward, and Gina could almost feel her heart beating out of her chest from the thought running through her head! Gina had never in her wildest dreams thought that something like this would happen here! Jason smiled when he saw Gina's reaction, and he knew that she already figured out what he was about to do, but Jason didn't allow that to ruin the moment. Instead, he simply brought the box forward and opened it calmly. And the moment Gina saw what was inside, she began to cry. It was a ring. The most beautiful ring that Gina had ever seen in her life. The ring band was made from a black metal that had various silver runes etched into the material, and at the top of the ring, there was a blood red ruby that shone with a golden light as it reflected the fire beside them.

"Gina, I can't promise you the most peaceful life, and I can't promise that we'll never have any problems. But what I can promise is that I'll love you till the day breath leaves my lungs and even beyond. So will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?"

It was almost like Gina's brain had stopped functioning! Gina's hands were over her mouth, and her face was squeezed in a look of ecstatic anguish as the tears fell freely! Gina couldn't believe Jason would do something like this! Both of them were in the middle of a life-threatening situation that could see them either killed or imprisoned at any moment and they were hiding in a cave in the middle of another world surrounded by the echoes of heavy rainfall, and Jason had decided that this was the moment he would make her cry like this!
